This might be the best FX routine I’ve seen her do. She has some nice sticks, hits all of her tumbling without sizable errors, and her tumbling and choreo match the music perfectly. It’s a shame she couldn’t be rewarded for her performance that day, she really was such an wonderful gymnast.
She was actually hit pretty solidly- both on beam and on floor- for artistry. There were some big empty spots in her floor routine where she basically just went to the corner, took a couple of breaths then tumbled. That was actually a deductable move in that code. As much as she was excellent in this competition, there were just enough places where she had easily avoidable issues that ultimately cost her a medal. Not saying I necessarily agree with those things, just what has been stated by those who were in the know. Her vault was her big downfall- a full twist in the AA at the Olympic Games is a big point tally to give to your competitors. I know she was pretty sick at the outset of the games, which didn’t help. I was hoping she’d continue and be able to have another shot without being under the weather… but alas.

I am not experienced enough to say which one is a better gymnast between Aliya and Chunsong but I just want to say this Lets remember that Chunsong was very ill at the start of these Olympics thus her performance was affected that being said the fact that despite that she came in 4th in the World with being sick is nothing to sneeze at and she is an amazing gymnast . Why people have to be so critical about gymnasts is beyond me, gymnasts of all countries are able to do things that are beyond my skill and expertise to do even when I was doing gymnastics when I was very little.
ugh i wish she had gotten that quad spin all the way around. that would've been enough for her to beat mustafina. that said, she was so underscored. her and aly raisman's beam got the same score.
Brenda Tovar, I love Mustafina and her gymnastics - in fact, she is one of my favorite gymnasts ever. However, I don't think she should have gotten bronze here. Why do you think Mustafina deserved the bronze here over Chunsong?
With how petite she is, you never think she would be this powerful, especially knowing that the Chinese has a history of being weak on vault and floor. I love Aliya, but I thought Shang deserved the AA bronze, she was underscored on beam and floor. Her 2015 Worlds scored 0.333 higher (14.933, 6.4 D-score) with the same underrotation of the Gomez, yet the Rio AA one had better landings with 2 being stuck cold)
She is so nice, innovative, precise. And underscored at the same time. She would deserve a medal for sure. I read that she sents all the monet earned with gymnastic to her family. She would eventually stop gymnastic cause all the effort, amazing skills and tumbling and her precision does are not worth a medal. Congrats to the judges!
I think a lot of people would be happier if shang chunsong have at least tied for bronze with mustafina like the floor in barcelona 1992. Imo, it is a lot better than if its just one of them.
The 2013-2016 quad should be named "Let's see how many time the judges can sneak in bronze for Mustafina". Painful to see her rob other more deserving gymnasts such as ChunSong just because she is Mustafina. Chunsong had the meet of her life whereas Mustafina was a total flop that day. And the judges still underscored ChunSong enough to give Mustafina the bronze. SMH.
She does not win her medals "just because she is Mustafina". In 2013, she won her two bronze medals (AA and bars final) fair and square. In 2014, she earned and deserved that bronze medal on floor. She upgraded her difficulty and gave it her all, and that effort resulted in a bronze medal for her. The only bronze medal I agree she did not deserve in the past quad was the beam one at the 2014 worlds. Other than that, all her bronze medals have been well-deserved. It's fine if you don't like Aliya, but to undermine her work and imply she's less deserving is just wrong and very immature on your part. Aliya works just as hard as every other gymnast present at the olympics and is just as deserving.

let's be real the reason she was underscored is bc the judges dislike her body. She's not your typical gymnast. Her legs and arms look different when doing split leaps and spins. She grew up very poor and malnourished, something out of her control. Mustafina has the "gymnast look". It's sad and unfair.
I really really really love gymnastics but the same time I hate it because it's so SUBJECTIVE in terms of E score. Judges can favor one gymnast and "hate" the other by manipulating E score. She truly deserved All-Around medal here. Yes Aliya did really great on uneven bars but Chunsong did well on uneven bars, floor, and even beam. Isn't the point of AA is to see which gymnasts masters as many apparatus instead of gymnasts that specialize in one apparatus and suck in others?? 😤😭
I think there was something very wrong with the beam judging at this competition. Shang was completely screwed over on beam, and at the same time Mustafina gets bronze even after missing her ONLY acrobatic connection
One of her best floors ever and I really think she should have won Bronze...I love Mustafina so much but there was some bias in her judging...She had a DTY and great bars, but her beam and floor were not good. Whereas Shang had a weak vault but everything was good.
Stupid judges ! Chunsong was underscored on every event (except on floor). For me Chunsong was very underscored and deserved better scores, but I think she was underscored on her execution, unlikely Aliya who was underscored on her difficulty. For me : Why Chunsong was underscored ? - on beam : for me her D score was correct because her layout his always a little bit piked, but the judges always give it to her a low execution score. - on vault : yes her FTY wasn't high and a little bit piked, but she deserved 14.033 and not 13.833 because she stuck (which is quite rare on the WAG). - on uneven bars : unfortunately I didn't see her routine, but I know that she is always underscored (whether in qualifications, in team final and in event final). This is so sad !
Yes I know, she is very unlucky in her life....Apparently she was paying massages for her brother, but unfortunately the establishment in which he was massaging, closed before the Games, it's really sad.... And for the correction "she was really sick" and not "she is really sick" ! XD
1. Her beam has lots of form and technique problems, she bent her knees, lots of pauses, change leg half, etc etc etc, culminating on the under-rotated awful dismount. 2. Height -0.3, Length -0.3, Piked -0.3 that's already 0.9 3. Her UB was never clean. Lots of tiny adjustments, low on the geinger, awful half turn at the very end. She deserves the score that she's been getting. It is pitiful but she doesn't have what it takes. Sorry
@@Chen-eh1hc Sorry, she scored fairly outside Rio. She scored 8.7+ for well executed beam routines in 2013 ~ 2015 worlds. The "specific deductions for Chinese" was specific to Rio.
good routine, but I think she needs to work on her execution, she has plenty of deductions, especially because all the twisting elements are under rotated.

@@DaniloRodrigues-je6eh Não foram com a cara dela, só pode. As acrobacias foram bem executadas acho que só pesou mesmo a expressão corporal na música o que não justifica a nota baixa.
Um fato é que os juízes sempre puxam p americanas. Tudo bem q são de outro nível. Mas eles sempre tendem mais p elas. E isso faz uma diferença grande afinal os décimos fazem a diferença.
@@DaniloRodrigues-je6eh a maioria das acrobacias tem um desconto pequeno e quando somam isso tudo vira um grande desconto. Nas piruetas, por exemplo, ela perde alguns décimos em todas pela postura das pernas, as pernas não podem cruzar, mais acredito que perdeu mais ponto no último giro ( duplo giro na posição Kosovo). A série é espetacular. Muito difícil. Ela merecia o bronze no AA
@@lonelyhorse5313 aly doesn't twist that much and her floor form is still ok i guess but aliya's form on floor is horrible. But if we're talking about bars then yes aly's form is horrible and she is overscored. Fan had a lower e score than her there smh
Lebronze Blackrose I think the strategy was to get the full credit for the two hardest and most important bonus combos at the beginning, but that was why she switched pass 3 (2.5-front half) and the double pike in her floor this last year.
Everyone crying about her being underscored... are you just going to ignore how underrotated her 3.5 was? Please slow down the speed and pause at around .31 when she hit the floor.. I think she got away with it because of the piked punch front, but she didn't even get 3.25 around let alone 3.5. If the judges actually caught that and scored accordingly, her D-score and E-score would've taken huge hits from downgrading the elements and from repeating elements (two triples).
A lot people said Shang deserves a bronze. But I can tell that she has a lot problems on floor. She always lack some degrees of angle to completed her twists. All of them are deductions in the eyes of strict judges.
