Hit her sets cold especially in TF, but occasionally stutters like in the team final in Rotterdam and at the Japan Cup on the dismount... Original upload by Mostepanovafan
I agree with the OP; Sui Lu is definitely my favorite beam-worker of all time. Regarding the follow-up posts, wasn't her performance in the London EF *slightly* better? I don't recall any checks or hesitations, but she did have a small step forward on her landing at the Olympics (if I remember correctly) 🤔
All I could say is WOW. In my opinion, I think she should've won gold in London. I normally don't agree with people saying this gymnast or that gymnast is robbed but she definitely was robbed in London. Deng may have had a slightly higher difficulty but she had the superior routine.
Unfortunately she had a small step after back pike and didn’t do her full L-turn + full turn connection. Deng was not as clean (sui lu’s front pike is way better executed), but she had no errors and did an extra connection
Sui Lu (CHN) is amazing, she is very pretty , beautiful but also very gifted at the beam plus she knows very well dancing like the dance floor I really like his routine that I find very beautiful to look if she is really very versatile and has several medal win money and it's very good for her , she well deserved , it like Sui Lu (CHN) . She is amazing .
Thomas Kroon I noticed that too. Really it just comes down to that. And she missed the full turn out of the Horz. turn connection. But I miss her exquiste work.
No they're not. Sui Lu and Yao Jinnan have the same coach (same coaching group), He Kexin and Tan Sixin are in another coaching group, Huang Qiushuang is in another. Jiang Yuyuan is in yet another (along with Deng Linlin). The Chinese girls are all close as teammates because they live in dormitories and share lives together but in training, they are in different coaching groups thereby under different coaches. Wu Liufang, who was the alternate, is in the same coaching group as Huang Qiushuang.
Sui is AMAZING, no doubt about that and I'm so happy she never gave up and finally won this gold. But to be honest I miss the choreography and artistry the chinese used to have in the past.
@ChainChomp2 and her set in chinese nationals (EF) in 2011 is one of the best one in my opinion. she even stuck her double pike dismount.^^ just awesome. and usually her sets in nationals are as good as this one from 2010.
OP: I know you're responding to someone's comment, but I don't know which one. It's crazy to me that her crying is even mentioned. I thought she handled narrowly-missing an Olympic medal quite well.
@j3ennif3r While watching this on my computer I was reminded so much of Fan Ye who I had the opportunity to spectate her in person win her gold medal back in Anaheim in 2003! She too seemed like she only didn't want to hurt the team but instead destroyed her competition!
I agree too! Sui Lu is an amazing gymnast and she worked very hard to get there, but there are sometimes when I don't like her sportmanship. And yes, Deng had 0.1 more in difficulty and the same E-score (9.000) than Sui Lu.
I love sui lu she murdered the beam right here!! But she could have been a better sport to her teammates especially to deng in london. Deng's first tumbling pass in that olympic bb final is beyond!! And she executed briliiantly!! Sui had a few balance checks and a low landing on her dismount!! I love her but i have to call it like i see it!!! Here is absolutely flawless tho!!!
If you watched the Olympics then you'd see that Aly goes and congratulate everyone for every event. I thought she went overboard with it. So you can't base it on just on competition. Her coach was congrating Catalina Ponor as well.
im chinese and i was thinking - was there a need to be that spot on perfect?!?! like 0 deduction there!! she could have got the gold easily enough even if she had a minor fault!!
Okay? Sure Wieber is world champion, and sure Geddart congratulates the gymnasts from other countries...what makes them related or relevant to each other? I didn't know world championship titles were given based on attitude...
The only thing I don’t like about Sui Lu is how she looks back to see the end of the beam. It seems like a bad habit she never got rid of... other gymnasts tap the end to feel out where they are.
@AndreitaAngels that's so weird.. i guess it is the cross racial identification problem...in china or even in asia...sui lu seems kinda mature already. so many ppl had questioned deng linlin's age back in 2008 and she hasnt really changed for all these yrs. that;s just how they look like. seriously, sui lu looks a lot more mature than most of the juniors or seniors in my school. and it's a typical high school in china.
