I appreciate this video a bunch. My church wants more pictures of the congregation, but our church is low lit and painted all black so I have to use a speed lite. People on stage have no issues with the flash, but its congregation that doesn't always find it pleasant. I also refuse to disturb prayer just for a picture. This video has definently given me solutions to problems. Thank you!

Our fellowship uses various community rooms for meetings and the lighting and set ups are quite different which is a challenge in itself! I like your idea of having a basic preset as that would help streamline the editing process and offer some consistency of style.

Useful, informative video on how to shoot and post process both secular and religious stage performances. ISO, f-stop, and time settings are provided . Equally useful and informative is the sequence shown for doing post processing. My only question is whether it is better to first reduce noise before sharpening?. This is a good, well planned and articulated tutorial on stage shooting. Well done!

Thanks for the kind words. personally I use lightroom and the everything is linear so I havent seen a difference when doing one vs the other. Maybe Photoshop makes a difference because of different layers

Just started doing church photography and I love it but need more lenes, using the Canon R5 and man you can bump the iso to 6400 and no problems, using my wildlife lens the 100-500 for now trying to decide between the 70-200 2.8 or the 24-70 2.8 for my next lens. I have the 15-35 2.8 for group shots which works great.

The 24-70 is the goat. Between that and my 70-200 I mostly shoot church content on those. 2.8 is a must because we run pretty dark during worship.

Question, do you take any photos of the audience? If so, if you want to use the photo online, are you asking people to sign waivers or do you post any kind of 'notice of filming' warnings at the entrance of the sanctuary? Thx.

You ever use flash on church events? I recently photographed our church anniv. And do you watermark your photos for the church?

ChillVibes _ I never use flash for church or wedding ceremonies. The main goal is to never be a distraction. I stoped watermarking my stuff a long time ago. It’s pointless. I just embed all of my copyright in the metadata. For church stuff, I’m not doing it for the recognition. Just part of the job.
