What is the purpose of renaming such major historical landmarks and using only hindi names. The present English names are also mentioned in Hindi and known to all ..in Hindi too. India is not only a Hindu populated country and its freedom and upliftment..involved people from all religions. Removing names does not change the historical fact that the British were present in India and were instrumental in India's identification as a united nation, its progress and its infrastructural foundations on many fronts. Also renaming the railway stations for sake of wiping out the British presence ... is absurd ..when the structural monuments of the railway stations and other amenities built by British ..still stand as testimony. ..besides the train coaches themselves. This is another example of how taxpayers money is being misused on frivolous matters.
Highly Appreciated the decision taken by this Govt. C D Deshmukh was first union Finance Minister . Also, Mumbai Central Stn should be renamed as Lata Mangeshkar stn, Bandra as Balasaheh Thakare, Marine LINE as Jagannath( Nana) Shankar Shet, Curry Road as Lalbaug, Sea Link as Ratan Tata

Names of places should be niche and specific to it, so as to why it became what it is. We aren't ashamed of our history, infact we take pride in it, from where we all have struggled and fought for freedom despite the diversity in cultures. Changing names now? Is absolutely stupid of our government. More important things should be changed, like our response to emergency situations or potholes or our drainage systems during the heavy rains. Name change of stations? Seriously? What good is it gonna do and for whom?😂😂😂 This is why literate people should be elected at the government. Not those who will drag the nation down😂😂😂

It could have equally been changed to the name of his second wife D. Deshmukh and I feel she would have approved the change away from it's British origins though not necessarily to Deshmukh🤭
I agree with changing of names like Bombay, Elphinstone and all but why Churchgate just because it refers a church, the famous St Thomas Cathedral, which it is associated with as its near to the station?
