It was mostly asians that did the fighting why do you think Pakistanis are the largest ethnic minority in the UK! Think about it.. Pakistani's are natural fighters and that's a Fact!
Ali Ditta that’s not racism that’s war. Hard decisions have to be made, much harder than anyone would want to have to make. It’s weighing up loses. How many people would have died if Hitler had won? It would be worse than Mao, hundreds of millions, including many more in India than actually died.
Thank You So Much. And It's Not Just The UK. The Soviet Union And United States Also Won The War. USSR Pushed To Berlin. And Canada , USA , UK Pushed Into The Country As Well. We Are Still The 3 Super Powers. And I Hope Germany Have Learned Their Lesson Over The Years And Join The Allied Powers When WW3 Comes Around. Against Iran , North Korea , Russia , Syria , Pakistan , Etc. We All Learned That Land Will NOT Give You Happiness. That Attack On Poland In 1939 Was In Fact Devastating. And Your German Leader Or Chancellor Is Amazing. She Is A Great Leader And Leads Germany The Right Way. I Hope There Will Be No More Evil And Furious Leaders Of Germany. And We Will Be The Greatest Friends. We Are All On This World Together And We Need The Same Credit. Have A Good Day, Hugs From Great Britain.
I suppose the symbolism of that footage - overlaid with audio of the victory speech given by the very man in whose honour that statue was made - flew right over you.
He introduced a raft of social reforms, prepared the navy for ww1, warned against appeasement before anyone else, alerted the country against the communist threat and was crucial to our morale in winning ww2. The greatest ever Briton, may he rest in peace forever.
@@arjunghanekar6140 Actually, the war ended not because of a military defeat but because the Royal Navy blockaded Germany from getting food imported which led to the population revolting and the Kaiser abdicating. So yes Germany was defeated irrespective of the US contribution.
@@arjunghanekar6140 Either way, both times America didn't join just because Britain wanted them to... you sound like the Allies asked them to join🤣 WW1, the main reasons why they joined was because of U Boats attacking and sinking merchant and civilian ships, along with a transmission from Germany to Mexico asking them to invade America, I don't see Britain asking for help there?? WW2, well..... Pearl Harbour... Number one main reason why America declared war on Japan was because of that, they only joined the war on Europe because Hitler was that stupid he decided to declare war on them when he shouldn't have.. So tell me, where in any of these scenarios is Britain asking for help??? Enlighten, because both times they joined was due to the opposition committing military aggression towards America, and in order to protect your interests, you have to declare war, which is what they did.
As portuguese and remembering our oldest friendship I want to express the depp admiration i have for British people, British history. And you’re warmth. I recently went to uk and you guys have always a smile on your face and a sincere desire to help. See you soon ❤xxx
@@MarkHarrison733 as you should know , Salazar was a nationalist dictator. He tried to supply both sides in order to increase Portugal economy. It was not a Portuguese people’s decision, it was not our choice.
@@RichARock Polish intelligence cracked the engima code which was a key part of the Allied success. The fighters which fled before Poland capitulated also played a huge part in the battle for Britain and the battle of France. Don't disrespect the Poles which gave their lives fighting
@@MidgeCat that ain't true it was British people who cracked the enigma code instead it was broke in 1942 The lead was a guy called Alan turning he was the one who made the machine which could break the codes not Poland the help Poland gave helped but was useless hence why they couldn't break it in 1939 The planes Poland gave didn't really help to win as they were mostly using hurricanes and spitfires Poland was occupied incredibly quickly and they lost the war I don't know how they can be considered winners when their country got captured and occupied But Polish people did go to Britain and France it wasn't in high numbers as obviously they had border control The Polish defence though although they fell quickly it was because they were between 2 strong powers and they didn't go down without a fight Edit: my opinions over the last 1month have changed massively Poland never stopped fighting in World war Two they wouldn't of agreed to peace if they wasn't forced too even though they agreed to peace and occupation (because they were forced too) they never stopped fighting and I have a lot of respect for the Polish if they weren't inbetween 2 super powers who hated eachother, had a higher population and better war equipment they wouldn't of surrendered I'm not going to delete the comment because it shows how people most of the time only remember the Soviet Union, United Kingdom and the United States war effort
@@louisemitchell3418 since last month I've actually looked in to Polish, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, China etc and I take back some stuff what I said about Poland I still stand by what I said about the German code as although Poland were the first ones to crack it Alan Turing was the first one to break the improved version and any updates do the code Poland's defeat was a guarantee they were in the middle of 2 super powers who hated each other However the Polish never fully surrendered it was the Polish Government which had no choice but to surrender the people never stopped fighting going to allied countries and fighting in Poland I wouldn't say Poland was a main power in World War Two like the Soviet Union, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, India, Australia, New Zealand etc however if they had better equipment and a higher population they would of been But you're right it isn't a competition we shouldn't forget the main nations war effort however World War Two was won by the allies not a single nation
@Mr Spoon hmm conspiracy theories have been around for a long time. In fact some actually believe coronavirus is a hoax. Personally I believe God has true authority over the earth so whatever happens He will always be in control :)
@Mr Spoon I see. For such a confident man who was unafraid of controversy something definitely turned. He faced a lot of criticism in parliament for advocating for Jews during the war, I think something about immigration etc. What's your background (career, studies)?! You seem well versed in history
One of the greatest men this country has ever seen and likely will ever see again. They don't make them like him any more, when the entire parliament wanted to strike a deal of surrender with the Nazis he was the only one who dared fight back, if anyone else had been in charge we'd be under Nazi rule right now. A hero in every sense, we salute you Winston.
Gallipoli too, oof... we need to recognise bull-headedness as a strength only under certain circumstances The real greatest men that ever lived were the ones doing the dirty work, the calm headed, intelligent, hard-working sacrificial men who put everything at risk to fight on the frontlines
Well now we have moronic college kids who idolise Stalin, who no doubt will pop up their ungrateful hateful little minds in these comments eventually, so looks like we'd end up in the same situation either way. War is not black and white, you take losses with the win, the British Empire began to be broken up to help subsidise the economic damage the war took on us. Fact is nobody other than him could have guided us to victory in that war because nobody but him wanted to win that war. And I'd rather a famine than be under Nazi rule, consequences of war are real. There's a reason the entire country voted him in unanimously, him and the soldiers who fought for him are the reason we're all alive today.
On 've day just one word to all veterans and the many who never came back, fighting a war so we could be free and getting rid of Hitler.thankyou.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
@Rudi Eva & The Baron. How is Zionism real? When people hear News about the Middle East and everything Else; they Instantly point their Fingers to Israel and America! Why?!? If you mention anti-Zionism, It's a mask of Anti-Semitisim! The latter being a FRAUD! As said by Erich von dem Bach-Zewlewsky; a Nazi leader: "I am the only living witness but I must say the truth. Contrary to the opinion of the National Socialists, that the Jews were a highly organized group, the appalling fact was that they had no organization whatsoever. The mass of the Jewish people were taken complete by surprise. They did not know at all what to do; they had no directives or slogans as to how they should act. This is the greatest lie of anti-Semitism because it gives the lie to that old slogan that the Jews are conspiring to dominate the world and that they are so highly organized. In reality, they had no organization of their own at all, not even an information service. If they had had some sort of organization, these people could have been saved by the millions, but instead, they were taken completely by surprise. Never before has a people gone as unsuspectingly to its disaster. Nothing was prepared. Absolutely nothing."
The most magnificent act of selflessness from those WW II heroes , many of whom lost everything to forge a safe and prosperous future for us all ! THANK YOU . We will Never Forget .
Absolutely disgraceful. Such a great man being destroyed by leftists. Once more our nations history has been struck and we are being told to apologise for it. Utter filth
We All Probably Wouldn’t be Alive if it wasn’t for Churchill and the men in the army. Imagine Waking up in the middle of the night and having to go underground or to bomb shelter! Or being in a army plane and crashing down to the ground! I’m crying of happiness and pride.
Same here I'm so proud of this country. I know my dad chose the right country Great Britain when he came to Southcoast England from Pakistan in The 1950s. I read The Koran this morning and watched the speeches this afternoon and am wearing a union jack flag on the streets of Bradford, West Yorkshire at the local takeaway educating the young who don't even understand this VE day.
Shanjan Usman thank you. I’m a Jain of Indian origin and I’m so happy to find someone of Pakistani origin whose family moved here in the old days and is proud to be British. God bless 🏴🇬🇧.
I grew up listening to these things, watching on the newsreels at the pictures and so on. I was born a few weeks before VE day. Post war England was MY England. I wish in many ways it was still like that. Not the damage of course but the people all so friendly, pulling together, so close. It's simply not the same anymore as I found out when I went back there in 2014. I never dreamt it could come down to what it has now. We need Churchill back so much.
Much respect Winston our friend. And bless ALL that lost their lives in the great atrocities in ALL WARS . BRAVE WERE THEY. SO MANY. NO WE SHALL NEVER EVER FORGET THEM. 💟💜🌹✌👏👏👏👏👏👏
Seeing the Red Arrows brought chills and feeling of immense gratitude to all those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice for protect our shared values of freedom, democracy, and peace.
As an American living in a deeply divided nation lacking in cohesive leadership, this brought tears to my eyes. I am envious of the national pride and unity that underscored British life during WW II and continues today. If America was able to achieve something even close to this, we'd be much better citizens of the world and friends to each other.
We had phenomenal leadership during WW II, under Roosevelt. Unfortunately, that is no longer true today, and both America and the world are worse because of it. I can remember when I was proud to be an American - and I'm not anymore. It's been a sad loss.
The US is an equally great country but I have to suggest that UK’s unity may be attributable to the fact that its constitutional monarchy allows the country to stay loyal to HM the Queen and what she represents no matter how politics has changed. Sir Winston is HM the Queen’s first PM and BJ the 14th. At the end of the day, the British spirits lie in the cause of freedom and democracy and this is something above party politics.
Well Franklin Roosevelt was truly selfless considering he still led his nation whilst dying from polio, and MLK Junior was the face of the civil rights movement who delivered the famous “I have a dream” speech
Churchill was one of the great of the great he wouldntlet britian fall under communist or antifa hands under no circonstance he didn't led Nazi rule Britain he wouldn't let them
Brooke Williams I’m British also. And i think every state has the right to be proud of their country. Whether you’re french, german, Spanish, Italian etc etc. Not nasty nationalism, but a nationalism that lets you freely feel pride in your country. 🏴🇬🇧
James Henderson both Australia and Great Britain have the same system of government. The Westminster system so technically we still are a British colony just independent
Can you just imagine sitting at home and listening to Churchill after enduring 6 years of war ? You can understand people going mad with joy ! By the way will people for goodness sake stop trying to bismurch his reputation. We all might not be here but for him
It is amazing that the English people held out for a year against the german bombing assault. Many nations would have waved the white flag long before. Their island was their fortress and they defended it courageously and admirably. My grandfather was stationed at RAF Watton with the 8th Air Force US Army Air Corps. He had nothing but good things to say about the RAF, Royal Army, and English people. The hospitality he said was just like home in Alabama. Most families from the town he grew up in were of early 19th century English extraction so i can see why. God Bless the UK and the US, may we remain friends and allies forever.
Thank you Sir. I am English, from London. My city took an awful pounding during WW2. My Mum told me that one night she was supposed to attend her friend's birthday party in the local pub, but her Mother (my Gran), had a bad feeling about it and she begged my Mum not to go, so my Mum stayed home instead. That night the pub took a direct hit from a German bomber and every person in it was killed......my Mum would have been one of the casualties if she had not heeded my Gran's warning. When WW2 finally ended, on VE day, my Mum met my Dad, who had been serving in The Navy, and the rest is history!
We owe so much to the heroes who sacrificed their lives in defence of a free and just world. Wish all totalitarian dictators like Chinese Communist Party fall in our generation. Advance Britannia! Long live the cause of freedom! God Save the Queen! This is from a proud Overseas British National from Hong Kong 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
How could anyone British not be proud of our heritage? We stood up alone for a long time before being joined by the allies, to the worst tyranny this world has ever seen and emerged victorious. I am proud to call myself British.
