Love the "You're going to love the future" comment in reference to The Doctor being President of Earth.

If no one has already mentioned it... the new Daleks are called "The New Paradigm Daleks"

To explain a few things about the Dalek redsign. Size: The gold daleks of the Eccelston/Tennant era were designed to match the eyeline of Bille Piper, since in Dalek, Rose was the main character interacting with the Dalek. These Daleks were designed to match the eyeline of Matt Smith who is noticably taller. Colour: The Daleks being colourful was suggested as being inspired by Dr Who and the Daleks, the Peter Cushing film, where the Daleks were also seen as more colourful than typically seen, the 5 different colours were also supposed to represent their rank, with the White Dalek being the Supreme, the Orange one beimg the Scientist, the Yellow One being the Eternal, the Blue on being the Strategist, and the Red one being the Drone.

I forgot to mention in my other comment "I am Your Soldier!" was a call back to previous story in 1966 called "The Power of the Daleks" which was the very first story of Patrick Troughton as The Second Doctor to which they were in a similiar situation where The Daleks pretend their serving the humans which they say in that story "I am Your Servant!".

The reason for the new Daleks is because of Amy. You see when the recreated the Daleks for the season one episode Dalek, they decided to make it tall enough to be eye to eye with Rose. They stayed Rose Tyler's height for Martha and Donna because they were similar height. Amy is much taller at around 5'10". So they made the huge Daleks to be eye to eye with Amy. When she is to leave the show, they will return to ones that were Rose Tyler's height

The comment about Doctor being President of the World is the mosty amazing irony

As you can probably tell, the Skittles Daleks are the product of the BBC marketing department. Got to sell more toys!

There is a TV show that I watched back in the 90s. TV Offal. They had a segment called "Gay Daleks".

A fierce Scottish girl as a companion? Ofcourse Amy is perfect for this. As Garrett seems to be 'over the Daleks', I understand, I was over them in the eighties (they scared the 'chips' out of a 10-year-old-me), still I have to put up with them. But don't worry, there are a few surprisingly good Dalek stories in future series/seasons to come (not saying when, you'll notice when you've seen a good Dalek story).

I think I remember reading at the time that something had gone wrong in production and the NP daleks were painted matte instead of gloss, hence power rangers. They might have looked cool Probably not, but they might have!

While i love the Daleks and Dalek stories i hated those power ranger Daleks. I thought the jets flying into space because of it being set in the 1940's was abit over the top they would not have had the possible technology to do it Doctor Who was always a weird show which i love the show for but that was just silly. Ian McNeice great actor and i thought he did a superb job as Winston Churchill. In the Big Finish audio drama The Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) has met Winston Churchill previously if you count Big Finish as canon.

This incarnation of the Daleks is known as the New Dalek Paradigm. I’d tell you more, but best kept secret …. Spoilers!

Definitely not the strongest Dalek story, and in my view one of the weakest links of Series 5, BUT, Matt Smith continues to demonstrate his grasp of the character and, yeah, Karen does a great job as Amelia.

I absolutely HATE the power ranger Daleks! They just look ridiculous!
