If CHVRCHES made a covers album, I would buy the shit out of it. Their covers are consistently some of their best songs. Like HOW??

THIS is how you do a cover. So different that it’s almost unrecognizable, yet it still keeps the message and emotion of the original. Absolutely outstanding. Chvrches never disappoints with their covers.

This is such an uplifting take on a great song. Lauren’s voice has gone to the next level in the last couple of years.

It’s awesome to watch Lauren when she is feeling a song and breaks out into a few quick dance moves. Her voice is amazing and the band does a great job of adapting covers and writing their own music to highlight her vocal strengths. Her vocal ability has improved steadily over time showing her dedication to practicing and perfecting her craft. They keep getting better as their music adds complexity and her voice becomes more angelic!!!

Usually indie covers of rap songs strip all the passion out, but this is beautiful. A more than worthy tribute to the original.

It's very subtle but I love that moment at like 1:20 when Lauren sort of roles her eyes. Even though this isn't "her song" you can see the connection she's making with this song and it turns into something new. Like how when Trent Reznor talked about hearing Johnny Cash's version of Hurt. That's really what makes a great cover and songs in general I guess.

They've peeled their elbows and knees to master their own sound, to add their own soul and style to synthpop, they continue to grow and grow, unrelentlessly, each single step they take, and I just don't see them failing any time soon. CHVRCHES are the real deal.

Damn Lauren can belt now! I’ll be honest, despite listening to CHRVCHES for a long time now, and being impressed with their covers in the past, I had a bit of doubt for this, it is Kendrick after all. But god damn, as always, they each made it their own and put the churches spin on it. Some may not like it, but you can’t deny that they executed it fantastically.
