Served with Karen a number of years ago. Very proud of her for her principled stand. Had a couple of back to back tours with State Department and “Political Section” down range, what I observed sickened me. Left military service upon my return.
Thanks Ray, Karen and the other man there - from Aotearoa New Zealand. Speak the truth eh. My dad flew under American command in WW2, the only NZ squadron to do so (Dauntless dive bombers up in the Solomon Islands). He became a socialist after the war. His twin brother died, also air force, serving in Europe. He had a high regard for the USA until the Vietnam War. My dad was an athiest but he knew right from wrong. And spoke out. The motto of his squadron was Kia Kaha - which translates along the lines of - be strong, be brave, be courageous. He, as a father should be, was and is an inspiration to me - and you folks and the church that gives you voice also inspire. All power to you.
Karen is spot on. I have lived this too. People need to realize they are capable of doing many different things and they should do things that make them happy. I did and my health is great too.

Ray is right, where are roman catholics,.different protestant Christian denominations for peace ?. As a Catholic I feel we're not doing enough to be a voice for justice and human rights.

Is a law that all homes in Israel have to have bomb shelters. Why is that? Do Americans have to build bomb shelters when building new homes, why is that ?
I think one huge problem is that people chase careers instead of skills, and the government career people need to learn about their transferable skills, how they can slot into different working environments that allign with their values. Unfortunately, as in Ray's and many other government employee cases, the employer changes its values, which requires the employee to make a career change so they can fit more comfortably into their work environment. Over the years, I have learned that if you have skills and proof of those skills, you can choose your employer and demand a good salary.
