One of the best decisions of my life was to ask Arsentiy to write a piece for me! It's dark and passionate and free...it's so easy to lose yourself in this music, which makes it SO fulfilling to play! At the end of it I really feel like I've been on a journey.

Bravo Cicely. A dark piece as you rightly say but what a satisfying and challenging piece - even for the listener; never mind the performer. You played beautifully as always; majestic is the word that comes to mind; so expressive and oh so difficult. Beautifully performed. What a wonderful performance, what a wonderful sound. Would that be the same cello I heard Leslie Parnas play an unforgettable Arpeggione on in Amsterdam in the 50's/60's? We talked about that performance for many days to come. A friend actually recorded it. I wish you the best of luck, and hope to hear you play for real soon, even if I have to cross the Atlantic again. You have a lot to say, your music has real meaning to it. can someone tell me exactly what she is doing at 0:13 when she puts her palm flat fingers down over the fingerboard? I have never seen this before.. I wish to learn..

Those two notes are far apart on the fingerboard, so I'm actually playing one note with my thumb and stretching my hand almost as far as I can to reach the other one!

Wow! of all the people who could have answered.. Hi! Well, that's cool.. reminds me of, well, I have played guitar for years and just started cello, reminds me of when you use your thumb on the 6th or even 5th string and play the upper registers normally.. I like tricks.. Just because it is harder to play doesn't mean it is better, ya..?
