Love how y’all say “ask your tobacconist”, nothing but class towards the industry and the local shops. But in reality y’all are my tobacconist! Appreciate all you do, keep it coming!
I tend to buy cigars in terms of smoking time... I like to have an assortment of sizes.... Typically 36 to 52.. And yes totally agree how blends change relevant to size.. I think at the end of the day, just enjoy the blend for what it is and experiment.... Great video guys. 💯👍👍👍
My choice of size depends on how much time I have to smoke. During the week, if I have only 45min to an hour, I will smoke a Robusto. During the weekend when I have a good 2 hours to smoke and relax, I love to smoke a Toro in a 54 ring gauge or a Churchill in a 50 ring gauge or a Lancero in a 40 ring gauge.
La Aroma De Cuba Connecticut El Jefe is my absolute favorite cigar. The creamines is delicious! I am almost at the end of my first box and ready to order another one.
Finally someone tells it like it is! Great video and education. I also find that often times the smaller ring gauges (32-48) are more elegant in flavors, and can highlight the wrapper even more. I do agree that blending and finding the right ring gauge to make the blend is critical. It is true artistry.
One of my favorite cigars is the regular San Cristobal. I get a very prevalent dark cherry note that I love in the smaller ring gauges, but that amazing note is very muted in the large ring gauges. Which sucks cause I enjoy 58-60 ring gauges the most. But that made me start going thru every cigar size of a line before I make a judgement. If there's ONE thing you really like in a cigar, but not the rest, try a different size. High chance another size will have that flavor highlighted.
Future videos might be how does natural and madero come into play when choosing the size of the cigar, and even what beverage pairs well with different sizes and natural vs madero formats
Yeah I usually hang around that size as well. Sometimes I’m a sl*t and go for a gordo haha when I was at the beach I wanted the bigger cigars because I had a lot more time but definitely a toro size fan for time and flavor
Totally agree with this. I am not a big ring-gauge smoker, but I ended-up with some EPC INCH cigars after purchasing a box of Encore Black. I end-up watering the lawn one evening and said, “f-it, I’m gonna try it with an open mind.” Holy cow. Just being outside, standing up, and in an environment where I’m less-likely to be critical, it just made such a difference. Doesn’t mean I gravitate to larger ring-gauge cigars now, but I certainly respect what it takes to make that blend compared to a more traditional format/like cigar. Cheers.
I like the Fuente Curly Head in maduro. 43 x 6.5. Even though it's a narrower ring gauge I still get an hour and a half smoke time out of it and I enjoy an easy smoke. Somewhat woody, nutty with a little soil flavor note and even a very light cream. For a budget stick the Curly Head really is an easy go-to. Fuente is probably my favorite though I also enjoy Aroma de Cuba, Padron and Rocky Patel. When I want to spice things up I do so with a Partagas Black Label. Thank you, gentlemen. I always get some helpful info from your videos.
I prefer the corona or lancero actually, for flavor... Fach said it! But I don't have a problem smoking a Gordo if it's a little stronger of a smoke. Always good advice my good chums...
Great wisdom from these two experts ! That ole Ted dude that is after Fauch's job probably would have not taught me near this much about cigar size and nuances of the components of such.
Great video. The cappuccino reference really made me understand it as well. Love to explore different cigars but now it's nice to know the same should be done with the size of the cigar.
Lets start listing our favourite cigars for a couple occasions. I'll start: 1. Matilde Serena robusto - very mild cigar for a sunny morning 2. Avo classic No. 2 Toro - tasty cigar for every occasion 3. Paradiso Coloso - the big boy of my collection if you want to spend a bit more time 4. Adventura Kings Gold robusto - a strong cigar after a good dinner and to end the day. Combines beautifully with coffee. I'd love to get to know yours for the different situations
I only smoke about three per week, usually on weekends, but my two favorites are My Father Las Antilles during the day, and Montecristo #2 on Sunday nights with a glass of bourbon
I am a new smoker and I want to thank you for the advice in this channel for beginners I went and I said to the tobacconist that I am a beginner and I want something mild and for short smoke and asked if he has ashton classic he said it is too strong for beginner and youtube reviewers are not good and it was not available which I didn't like however he recommended 708 cigars Connecticut which I though it was spicy and bit strong when I smoked it and didn't like it much also gave me Joya de Nicaragua clasico original which was amazing experience overall however my interaction with the tobacconist was meh he could have said that he disagrees without dissing others
I tried the LADC Conn in Monarch and didn’t like it. Moved to Robusto and liked it better, and the Corona I liked the best. It’s smaller than I would want ideally, but the flavor I like the best.
Yes, size always matters. At first, I was intimidated by bigger cigar sizes. Once you foubd your 3-4 cigars for every occasion, you always have something to go back when you're not feeling like experimenting around.
My sweet spot is a 5.5x52. The time it takes to smoke the flavors that it gives. has been more then ideal. Although some blends are amazing in the Lonsdale size. The lonsdale Cedrus blew me away. Anything over a 54 isn't really up my ally.
Yes, the great big fatties are less enjoyable for me. 54 is my max but I gravitate to a 50 size. Now to my question, how are cigars shipped? Are they humidified during shipment? Are the temperatures consistent? Some say that you can take a dried out cigar and re-humidify it, others say once the oils have evaporated its doa. I’m very new to cigars and have learned so much from your channel and I thank you. I was surprised to have already been unsubscribed by RU-vid. I just resubscribed. My favorites so far are the lot 23 Perdomo with the sun grown wrapper. The Fuente reserve is wonderful as well but very pricey so it’s not a daily smoker………
Maybe I missed it on the page, but could you do a video with the terminology for the basic cigars, cause even though I have been a smoker for a few years, I have no idea what the difference is.
RU-vid doesn't allow us to link in the comments, but we have a video about that called "Cigar Slang 101: Essential Terms Every Aficionado Should Know". It sounds like exactly what you're looking for
Hi Anthony i have a question for you. Im 20 years and live in germany and im about to go study Engineering. But i would Love to work in the Gigant Business. I smoke cigars since 3 years i tried a lot so what would you recomend to study or lern.
They're both cheeseburgers, but the amount of hamburger patties affects the amount of time it takes to eat the burger and the beef-to-bun ratio will affect how they taste 😂 Not a bad analogy
