Smoking since 1985, I was on the ropes about this meter. Once I figured it out, it has changed everything for me. Great for checking incoming and great for finding my sweet spot. I know it's an overused term but this has become a real game changer for me.

Whats your prefered number on maduros and connecticut?

Just got mine today. I bought it to check and evaluate the cigars I order online since a lot of them ship without any humidification. Ex: I received two 5-packs today and one pack was at 71 rf and the other at 60 rf according to this device. That kinda of info is valuable.

@@cigarmedicsinc.-1416 why didnt this guy say anything about the guidelines you recommend meaning how much humidity the cigar should be at?
@gigi9467
@gigi9467 3 года назад
Yup and according to cigar medica anything between 60-70% its good to smoke

This is really helpful Charlie. I have been weighing buying one and I think you have helped me make a decision....

I like this device, the only problem is that a lot of the cigar foots have pretty loose leaves so the reading is always lower. They need to be quite tightly packed to get an accurate reading. I know there are recommendations to press down on foot in the scenario of a loose foot but then you can crack the wrapper and often it doesn’t make a huge difference 😂

I own one of these cigar medic humidmeter and noticed the reading begin high or in the right range to smoke but drops quickly also I'm using it at foot of my cigars but after seeing your video I'll use at the cap of my cigars. Well made video.

@cigarmedicsinc.-1416 3 года назад
Thank you for using the product Andre! As far as the dropping, the meter is calculating humidity level but we recommend not to go beyond 10 seconds. Only use readings between 5-10 seconds as instructed. Hope this helps.

Great video. I just wish you would've shown how to calibrate it, if you find that the calibration is off a little

It can't be calibrated.

Great review Charlie. The only thing you don't mention is the temperature, that device is calibrated to 70F. So the result in an environment with a different temperature is going to be false.
@cigarmedicsinc.-1416
@cigarmedicsinc.-1416 4 года назад
Great observation. A ten degree difference only swings the numbers by couple of points but we will actually be launching another model with a third probe for temperature for those aficionados that really want extra fine tuning. It will be around 60 dollars and will be available in the near future. Thank you

you can also use a paper towel wet one half touch the probe to the dry part should read Zero, then touch the wet side should read high 80+%. shows that the device works only.

What you have not addressed is what is the ideal range to smoke the cigar after measuring the RH. Can you advise? Is it between 60-70 or 55-65 .. etc..
@cigarmedicsinc.-1416
@cigarmedicsinc.-1416 3 года назад
We recommend 60-70% but that depends on your preference as well.

I’m putting cigars into an acrylic humidor with Boveda packs at 65% RH. When I use my humidimeter the reading is at 57%… I’m using a lubinski humidimeter . I just don’t understand why the humidity isn’t changing. Any thoughts?
@mycryptojourney69
@mycryptojourney69 10 месяцев назад
you need to calibrate your humidifier using the salt test to determine if its showing acurately or not to begin with. Some of the humidifiers that come from the market are wildly inacurate and need to be calibrated

How do you know, When a cigar is already not good to save and smoke for later? What humidity would that be?

Why did u never mention the guidelines that cigarmedics state on the package? Which is that if the cigar shows 60-70% its in perfect shape to smoke and anything over 70% i over humidified and anything under 60% is to dry?????

Why not just display moisture content? Thermometers don't depend on hypothetical formulas. External thermometers measure the environment, internal the meat (or whatever). The hygrometer gives you the air. The new information that this still won't provide is the moisture content.
@jasonrawls6959
@jasonrawls6959 4 года назад
To be honest I'd rather it just give me the actual moisture content rather than converting to RH. Most cigar smokers are smart enough to understand the difference. After all, setting the RH in your humidor is just the means to an and to achieve the ideal moisture in the cigar. Just tell me what the ideal moisture content is supposed to be and I'll take it from there.
@cigarmedicsinc.-1416
@cigarmedicsinc.-1416 3 года назад
You're right Jason but when we asked a study group before launching the meter, 49 of the 50 people we asked preferred Rh only because it was a number they could relate to.

I have one of these and it is way out whack. I have my cigars in 3 different humidors all set and constant at 69-70%. This thing tells me my sticks are almost all at 62%. Sorry, it's just not accurate.

Mike, Here are a few tips. Make sure it is fully inserted into the foot and/or cap as the cap does show higher most of the time. Clean tips with a little alcohol peridically. Allow cigar to plank from meter so weight of cigar keeps pressure on tips AND you may also gently squeeze foot over the probes for better contact especially on a looser packed cigar. Hope this helps.
