I keep asking people to identify the instrument by sound. no one has gotten it yet. It's amazing what the style of music will do to the sound of the instrument.
1st jig is "Seanamach Tubestation" written by John Carthy - great version on Cathal Hayden's solo album Not sure of the 2nd 3rd is "Feed the Ducks" written by Cork banjo player Kieran Leahy - on Liz Doherty's album Last Orders
Tenor banjo and Mandolin tuning are the same in Irish music though some like to tune up their G string to A. here hes just tuned all the strings a semitone sharper...
Cillian, could you please tell me what tuning you are using here? I have just got a tenor banjo and tuned it to mandolin tuning but your tenor sounds like it is higher in tone. Are you using Tenor banjo tuning or mandolin tuning? Thanks in advance.
I can guarantee u cillian didn’t play like this a few years ago, too busy lad, go back to when u played it sweet please, blunders everywhere lad, too much going on, 😔♥️👍☘️☘️🇮🇪🇮🇪

that is the right way to hold the plac. my sister has the same technique and it was his technique that helped him win aswell being a brill player!!!. . .which he obvioulsly is.
i think he plays too fast but with no feeling; great player, but needs to play from the heart; just trying to go at wharp speed - listen to Gerry O'Connor or Sully
I dunno bout you but this gets my feet stompin, the second song made me wish I was at a carnival/festival just so I could learn how to dance to it. He can play very good for a minor imo
when you have an all ireland medal then u can talk,, Cillian is a gent of a lad who wouldn't stoop so low as to slander another player, i thought music was all about enjoyment?? obviously not!? haters gonna hate ,
Ye very capable cillian is , but way overplayed ,,too much ornamentations, it’s falling to pieces, like we hear all these banjo players playing mad fast,, even comes across too rushed , and loads of blunders in there too, , anyway, that’s what I feel about it, we all defer to what’s sweet to our ears, but it’s not for me, ,,😔
It's a banjo full stop. Unless they change the name to something else I will call it a banjo. Best of luck to you tryin to change it. I will be keepin eye out on your progress. And no I don't understand logic
