Solo due parole: Grandissimo Gerry!! Spero un giorno di vederti suonare dal vivo, sei un vero mago del banjo!! Saluti a tutti i fan di Gerry dalla piccola Svizzera.
I remember the first time I saw Gerry play on RU-vid in my college dorm room. I was blown away. Been following em ever since. What an unbelievable talent and great guy. hope to see him play in person one day. Cheers Gerry
We are so lucky to have known Gerry before he became famous. He was always an outstanding musician and used to play in my mum & dad's pub in Garrykennedy, Portroe in Co Tipperary. We are all so proud of his achievements. Well done Gerry.
Phantastic! First class performance! Unfortunately I have never been in Ireland, but I suppose this is the best Irish Banjo player. I enjoy to hear and see this very, very much!
What a few tunes, riproaring stuff, brilliant to hear and watch such good musicians thanks for the wonderful music and the enjoyment ye get out of it and thanks for giving so much enjoyment to so many people, keep up playing
The guy you replied so nicely to was actually commenting on how well the audience reacted to Gerry. The performance is at Celtic Connections in Scotland so get your facts straight before mouthing off on the internet you keyboard warrior.
Heard "Old Joe's" and "The Cordal" as jigs and "Billy In The Low Ground" and "The Temperance" as reels. So could you change "Tom Billy's Jigs" to "Tom Billy's Jigs and Reels"?
Quiet as a mouse peein' on cotton. Now that's the kind of audience you don't mind playing for. I wonder if this concert was in the U.S. Bet it wasn't. No one is yelling, clapping off beat, and stamping their feet or screaming, "Duelin' Banjos" like they do here in the states when somebody plays banjo. .
Barney McKenna was a beautiful person and a great musician, but Gerry is a million miles a better banjo player. To see him stuck behind and playing second fiddle to that arch-charlatan Sharon Shannon is heart-breaking. She's not fit to lace his boots.
well, I like Sharon's playing, don't know what you talk about. Agree with the comment about Barney, never quite understood the hype about his playing, Gerry and plenty young lads do a better job on banjo. Barney deserves credit for popularizing ITM and banjo though.
@@shambles7ful Well, I am not joking. I even gave Barney another chance after your reply and I am not able to find a recording, where he was not making mistakes and where he was tight/precise in rhythm and ornaments. I am open to discussion, so please point me to a good recording and I can re-evaluate my opinion, just please be fair in discussion and don't blame me of joking. Kieran's playing is nice, I used to be a fan, but I prefer Enda Scahill or Stevie Dunne.
Barney is no Gerry and Gerry is no Barney. Barney and Gerry are no Kieran and Kieran is no Gerry...or Barney. Get my Point? Each of these banjo players are great in their own way and cannot be compared or duplicated. Your ear will decide what you enjoy listening to.
+Kevin J it had been thought the Africans adapted the gourd banjo from the arabs. But there are many banjo like instruments in Africa like a jola akonting and kora.
Hmm, I think US audiences are pretty well-behaved over all. But then I live in Turkey where people tend to leave their cellphones on in concert halls....;)
