Such a class act. I love that he doesn't care about fame but the art. He lives in Ireland with his family. He isn't showy and picks films that he knows that he can bring something to. He isn't worried if the film ends up being the best. He also isn't upset that he is the side guy. He knows that the side character is some times almost as important as the main character. He is very good at what he does and hopefully now that he is becoming more main stream to others they will say his name correctly and continue to let him live in peace in Ireland.
It’s not all about box office numbers. I guarantee every role he has chosen to play he did because he felt he could portray that character the best; and had a real connection to them. From interviews I’ve seen he seems a very shy person and not looking for fame. He’s just doing what he loves. 😊
Lol, Cillian was well known before Peaky Blinders. He had completed 28 days later, Batman Begins, Inception and The wind that Shakes the Barley before P.Blinders.
I think it depends on how familiar you are with British and Irish cinema. We have always had an eye on him but hollywood hasn't because he is well known for not enjoying press tours or doing the usual celebrity pomp and circumstance.
There are lots of us Cillian fans who discovered him many many years ago and have eagerly sought out his movies. Would love to have seen him on stage. So happy he is finally receiving the recognition, (even though he loathes being in the spotlight) he so richly deserves. Glad the world is finally discovering him, although he is best left alone as he so desires in his lovely Ireland.
Nolan and Boyle always knew about Cilian's skills and even in low performing movies he always shone. He has always been a star, it's just that he has never gone out of his way to bend the knee to hollywood. Something that two legendary British directors have in common.
Truly an amazing person he is! He doesn't care that much about fame and only care about the work he does. He is exceptional in portraying the most grey area which lies deep within human minds. In Oppenheimer this guy really outdone himself. That is one of the most dangerous acting I have ever saw in movie screen. I am sure that work will remain as a timeless work in cinama history.

Cillian Murphy is one of my favorite actors, I've watched many films with him, I've enjoyed Red Eye, Watching The Detectives, Inception, and even his short film 'All Of This Unreal Time'. Peaky Blinders is one of my favorite shows eevr, and he's sinply phenomenal in that show. My favorite role by him is actually Dr. Jonathan Crane from Batman Begins/The Dark Knight Trilogy. These roles are all quite interesting. Murphy is also an actor who I'm so happy has finally gotten more recognition, especially since Oppenheimer. It's clear that people are seeing how talented he is in the film, giving one of the greatest performances ever. Now... People can see that he's just one of the best actors of our generation.
He wasn’t born in Dublin, as the text on screen says. He was born to a family living in Douglas, a suburb of Cork city. And please stop calling him Sillian. It’s Cillian, with a hard C.
Obviously I don't know the man, but from what I gather I don't think he wants to win any awards. I agree he probably will and should, but the guy HATES attention and press tours and practically breaks out into hives when he gets compliments. He literally just wants to do a good job at work and spend time with his family
As someone who came to know about Cillian after Peaky blinders, i gotta say, whenever wherever i see him in a movie, i see a glimpse of Thomas Shelby, I mean infact many people might as well just know him as Tommy Shelby, who knows! Phenomenal actor for sure 👌🏼
The wild thing is that a lot of the movies that didn't perform well, or received mostly negative reviews, aren't actually bad movies. Most of them are very enjoyable, and often quite thought provoking. Some of the poorly received movies have actually turned out to be some of my favourites of his (Sunburn is a delight, as is On The Edge, Anthropoid, and The Party. Red Lights was also a movie that, while very flawed at times, was really interesting and kept me invested throughout). Another thing, to the credit of Cillian Murphy, is that his performance is always a highlight of the movies he's in. He's been in some movies that made me go "eh, not that great" but I can't think of a single time I thought that about his acting. Even in low budget or lackluster movies he always knocks it out of the park. Such as In Time, where his character is literally the only interesting thing on screen, and The Edge of Love. I think he acts his ass off in everything he's in, and it shows.
It’s been so long and I know the franchise is dead, but I really need a Scarecrow movie with Cillian set in the dark knight universe. It doesn’t even have to have Batman in it. Just the story of scarecrow being wild and unhinged around Gotham while Batman was chasing around Joker and Bane.
I was his fan since much earlier too, but he surely wasn´t that big star before Peaky Blinders. However, consider that Peaky Blinders was released on 2013... 10 years ago already.
I remember him from The Wind that Shakes the Barley and Sunshine. IMHO, Murphy is really becoming the main character in every film where he performs. I have rarely a wish to visit both films running in the cinema, but Barbie and Oppenheimer - there is no chance to choose between them. Another top actor with so many sides of his versatile talent, the same as Leo DiCaprio, he is getting just better with time. I will never get tired of watching his films.
At one point you said his career wasn't in the best shape. But he was sought out by famous directors, Boyle and Nolan, who both continue to want to work with him. He even managed to convince directors who were planning to cast someone else to cast him. That's a status few actors can claim. The number of lead roles in a big box office is simply not a good way to measure the success of an actor, of a "movie star" maybe. Christ Pratt is doing amazingly well with big box office movies but I doubt anybody on Earth thinks he's a better actor than Cillian.
You are completely right. It's just that there might be a kind of scale anyway. Daniel Day-Lewis had long pauses between acting. You can't valorate his career during the years he didn't act, even being welcomed to any movie in the world.
I'm trying to understand... it is a positive critic or a negative critic 🤔 The truth is that I spend a huge amount of time thinking about the thumbnail. Sometimes, there are some absolutely outstanding ideas, but sometimes my mind is empty. What do you think about other thumbnails from the channel?
@@Filmosophy-kino mate that was a positive critic. Looks so cool. the way you seamlessly combine the faces in your thumbnail is just amazing. Just one thing, all Ur thumbnails have warm colours. Maybe try cooler colours depending on whats the video is about?
James Gandolfini = Cillian Murphy in my opinion, 🤷🏽♂️. Not the show or story but the way they portrayed a similar gangster style with the subtleties. Top 5 fav shows. Don’t get me going on “breaking bad. “ Whomever wants to discuss/ blindly argue, remember I mean as a lead actor portraying an everyday person in a particular role. I’m open to some new shows that pay off. Nowadays it’s quantity over quality.
Oh, that's right! I omitted many movies bacause it's impossible to talk about all of them in a short video, but Tron Legacy I just didn't noticed and mised it. Thanks
I'm watching this on August 3rd. Almost 2 weeks since Oppenheimer debut. So far it is scratching 420 mil. Will be way over 500 mil. Great movie. Seen it twice. Imax is way better
It is spelled Cillian and is pronounced with a hard C (like Killian). It is an Irish name. In the Irish language, there is no K in the alphabet. The letter C is used to produce that sound. The letter S is used to produce a soft S or soft C sound.
@@gerardacronin334 Thats not the way everyone pronounces it. Ive often heard "Sillian". Hes the first one calling him "Killian". Thats why Iam asking. But whos wrong now?
@@Enigma_Real Well, whatever “everyone” says, I’m Irish, and Cillian is an old Irish name. There was a Saint Cillian. Sometimes his name is Anglicized to Killian. But the Irish spelling is Cillian, and in Irish, C is a hard C. Furthermore, if you search for it, you can find a short video of an interview that Cillian Murphy gave in which he demonstrates how to pronounce his name.
