There were allegations of sexual and emotional abuse against him by his ex-girlfriend. After an investigation (in which said ex refused to participate) by AMC during which he was removed from their show, he was eventually reinstated since nothing indicated that these claims were true. His previous partners and his current wife vouched for him, saying they were never mistreated in any way by him, and while some claim that they could associate emotional abuse with his character, they were anonymous claims that didn't really lead anywhere. Some accused him of blacklisting his ex and those that cross him, but I doubt it's anything serious. Another thing that later came up was the fact that his ex was cheating on him, leading to him breaking up with her, giving her a motive. As for Critical Role, the character was pronounced officially dead due to the whole ordeal and they didn't associate themselves with him anymore which I find pretty sad. I personally believe he's innocent, he's a funny, energetic guy who knows how to build a good character. But hey, what can you do, it's all in the past now and there's nothing we can do about him.

His mother was battling cancer, and my understanding is she finally passed just before episode C1 45. While he is a master of role play, I imagine he channeled much of that through his actual grief.

I would be epic, though understandable if they don't do that since managing upwards to 13 plus characters would be difficult, plus a large cast of NPC's.

I really want that too! Being a DM I understand it would be terribly chaotic having that many people but I thought there could be a doubling up system of some sort. Split everyone up in groups of three and have them add their initiative rolls together. The group acts on the same turn with a time limit to help things move along. If anyone can make it work Matt Mercer is the DM to do it.

That sounds like it could work. I'm not a DM or a D&D player (though this series makes me want to give it a shot), so I don't know what playing a game is actually like, but I agree. Mercer has proven himself to be a DM of the highest caliber.

This would be a good dual DM opportunity, Chris Perkins for Group A and Matthew Mercer for Group B. Totally doable, I think this would be amazing. Matthew Mercer, make it happen!

For the sake of simplicity, almost every fire effect in D&D specifies that it doesn't ignite flammable items/clothes if worn or carried. There's just too much fire in the game to keep track of all that without it getting R rated.

@@JollyGreenWizard Solely for gunpowder, speaking as someone who has always enjoyed flintlock fantasy type settings, I generally do not use this rule for environmental fire/evolutionary fire. Evolutionary is like a creature that naturally breathes fire (this includes red dragons of course) or fire elementals. If a wizard is casting fireball, yeah I'm willing to fiat/handwave a level of "I'm not trying to cause an explosion beyond the one I am in direct control of here." Though if the PCs want to open that door and start trying to use gunpowder that way with their own fire spells, I'll let them, but warn them that the gloves are off at that point. You've decided you want the world to work that way, you have to live with the consequences.

As a DM of 20+ years myself, matt is a very Gentle DM, these guys would of TPK'ed 5 times over if i was their DM, just from running their mouths at NPC's lol.

I know I am really late but it’s funny in an interview I saw Taliesin said that at one point in his life he was “the guy you know” he had in his truck something for any and all occasions. No matter what you need everyone “knows a guy for that” and at one point he was that guy. Kinda made me wish even harder that I knew him man lol I could use that guy you know about now.

Yeah It would of been better if Scanlan had cast the spell rather than Vax using the cloak that way Vax would still have the cloak as that cloak has the Dimension Door spell enchanted in it which is very useful since for the most part the only person Scanlan can take with him in Dimension Door is Pike while Vax can take anyone except for maybe Grog and Trinket

As a DM, here's a secret: When we utter these sacred words, it is only in circumstances of great hilarity to our species, to watch the character flounder in a half-baked attempt. In non-fantasy talk, we only say that if we know they're going to fail, and it's hilarious. Eg the time my dragonborn monk tried to tame a chimera, HTTYD style. The only reason he still has both hands is the artificer using one of his invocations on Replicate Magic Item: Prosthetic Limb.

@@alessandrofioletti6099 I don't know what kind of funky math you're doing where 66 gallons of water spread over a 5 ft. x 5 ft. space would somehow be 10 ft. tall. The math is incredibly simple. 5 ft x 5ft x 10 ft. is 250 sq ft. There is 7.48 gallons/sq ft. How exactly does that add up to 66?

@@datmanydocris A tiny fix, but 5ft x 5ft x 10 ft is cubic ft, not sq ft. For the same reason, there can't be 7 gallons per sq foot, liquid's not measured that way.

Just google 3000 cubic ft to gallons... it's 22,441.xxx gallons - an insane amount

@@MidgetPally521 -- Yep. Caught-up on Campaign two, and wanted to revisit Campaign one. I'm split. I like some things about the Mighty Nein's campaign more than the first, but I like the characters -- mostly -- better in Vox Machina. I love Grog's wizarding prowess. :) For example. But I like Jester much more than Vex. Vax over Caleb. Split on Scanlon vs Nott. I miss Percy, not a fan of Molly *or* Caduceus. Split on Pike vs Yasha. Fjord's Barbarian-ness, or the lack thereof, is entertaining. I feel a little resentful of Blindspot because of the interference with developing Yasha more. Pike had time to develop before they hit Twitch/RU-vid . . . Yasha, not as much. She doesn't feel 'lived-in' as a character yet. Heh heh. Long, needless answer for a simple 'Hey'. :D One of those days.

Also, I thought Vax was supposed to be the thief....

Jordan Barkley Vax is a rogue, you don't have to steal to be a rogue. the only reason vex is seeming to be the main thief of the group so far is because 1, her greed, 2, she really likes to fly....

All the anti Keyleth "She never does anything useful in battle" seem to be silent all of a sudden now that she wiped out half the baddies on her own. Now they're attacking her being fine with undead LOL. If she had forced Gern to get rid of the undead they'd say "she's being melodramatic just to be the centre of attention" and disrupting the party. LOL hilarious.

Can you explain why it's so awesome? It's up to 1 3rd lvl spell, which you have store beforehand using a spell slot.

From the description here, it sounds like it could be used by a non-spellcaster. The spells could be stored on days when the slots were not used before a long rest.

So you could have Grog run into a room full of enemies and cast fireball (using Scanlan's insane DC of 20) before finishing each of them off by himself

DAMN dude. You found a sleeping giant in their possession and it just goes unused. This is arguably as good as or better than Craven's Edge. At least equal in standing considering he could have ANY spell in that his party has available.

Spell storing items are almost always underutilized which is good because the moment people realize it gets really annoying quickly by how op it it. 3rd levels to non spell casters. There's even some decent 2nd and 1ST level spells that are nice. Free spell slots even low level isn't bad either. Imagine a 3rd level cure wounds or healing word on a non healer that's free hp pots stored during downtime. 3 lvl 1 healing spells is basically 3 revives
