Hi everyone,
Welcome to my channel.
Here's another video about my amazing sister Cindy the baboon, this time all about how she's the Mother to all the animals on the farm and has a special bond with them, especially Jerry the meerkat, who she picks up a lot!
Even though she can look like she is being a bit rough with him and hanging him upside down by his tail, she has no intention of scaring or hurting him as she loves him very much and this is her sign of affection. Jerry knows this and is around her a lot.
Cindy never had babies of her own so the other species on the farm are her world.

Ruben, I am a very old woman, confined to my big chair, most of the day. Since I was in my early twenties I have lived in very rural mountains. Southwestern, Colorado, where the 13 and 14 thousand foot mountains surround my valley. My family and I had to be a veterinarian many times. I raised and rescued chickens, ducks, geese, and any water fowl. I got very good at stitching-up dogs, baby raccoons, etc. Travel, was my main goal in life and I have many, African friends. Most from the north, Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia, Fr. Morocco. etc. I cannot tell you how much enjoyment your videos bring to me! You so very good with animals and people. I wish joy and happiness for you and all in, Namibia!

They love each other! The meerkats tail is super strong, so when she's holding him by the tail, you'll notice Jerry just looking at her lovingly at times & he'll come right back for a snuggle! If Cindy wanted to hurry Jerry, she could rip him to pieces in seconds!🤣

The meerkats make that growling sound when they eat near each other, too. They sound vicious but you'll rarely see blood or injuries. Check out Zoey the banded mongoose, too! She's a love!

Cindy brought another smile to me. Isn’t it amazing how an elderly, blind baboon can bring so much happiness into my life and the lives of thousands of others the world over? I’m not sure if Cindy can smile, but she doesn’t have to, her beautiful lip smacking says everything!😊God bless her, and you for caring for her. If you have an e-reader or maybe find it in a book sale read this book: The Soul of the Ape by Eugene Marais. The title uses poetic license, its about the psych, not the soul, of the baboon witch is a monkey not an ape.

edit: old world monkeys like Cindy ; their world revolves around butts. butts tell them everything they need to know: are you sick? where have you been? are you dehydrated? what have you been eating? the constant butt play is extremely important Old world monkeys will foster a brick if given the chance. they are excellent mothers and love love love babies… well babies and whatever they think are babies 🥰🥰

@@heatherstephens9295 describing the opposite is easier- new world monkeys are all the guys in south and central america (capuchins, howlers, tamarins, marmosets, wooly, etc) old world monkeys are everyone else- africa, asia, SE asia - all the macaques, baboons, langurs, etc

In South Africa they are quite destructive to homes within their habitat. We are warned not to feed them and to take any left over takeaways from the area. I don't blame them, their lives are difficult enough without humans wanting to invade their migratory patterns. I can't understand why people knowingly live in close proximity and then complain endlessly when they become aggressive 😒. The females are very protective of their babies, but the males are the ones you need to be extra wary of. When they get to a certain age they get chucked out (they fight for dominance - it's the natural order of their cycle of life). They have been known to attack domestic pets, but some people are too dumb to just follow the rules posted clearly everywhere.

It's cool that you're explaining the behaviours, because a lot of people aren't familiar with these animals. I don't know very much about these animals myself, but I do know that animals in general (including humans) will not keep putting themselves into positions to get hurt, so I was not concerned about Jerry, you can see that he's happy to interact with her. Obviously with some exceptions, a very hungry animal might risk harm for food, but still try to avoid pain. Also an animal with a psychological or neurological condition may repeat behaviours that cause pain. I'm so happy you've extended your videos to RU-vid, your animals are a joy to watch and I really like learning about them! ❤

I just love Rubens videos and clips. It's amazing how love can make the wild animals tamed and communicating. It must be such a treat to interact with them all daily. All of them are so adorable. Watched all the clips and sometimes re-watch them. We need more. Cindy is special and I think the rest of the animals as well. I live in Botrivier in Western Cape and here is a farm call Cornelskop. They do more Big cat's and other wild animals as well. Most are resqued. It's just amazing how these wild animals respond to human love and affection. More purer love you won't find, not even in humans. You're blessed as well as your Mom. Thank you for sharing with us this beautiful privilege and love your family have for resqued animals. Thank you Ruben for explaining, I was somtimes feel sorry for Jerry! that he mabe wasn't alway fun of being pick-up by Cindy. But I didn't think Cindy would hurt him.
