Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a bit of an emotional video this week.
As you know, Cindy the baboon is a very important part of our family, she has been with my parents even longer than I have! She is my big sister.
Not long ago, she didn’t seem herself, she had a bit of a cough and would breathe heavily at night. We know she’s an old lady, 30 years of age, which is an amazing age for a chacma baboon, their life expectancy is a lot less in the wild, but we wanted to get her checked by a vet to see if there were any issues.
When they x-rayed her lungs they found white spots, which could be cancer, but we didn’t want to share the news with anyone at this point, as the vets weren’t sure and we didn’t want to upset anyone, as we know how loved she is. We were obviously shocked ourselves and so very worried but we were advised to get her scanned again.
In the meantime, my mother was giving her natural supplements, we gave her a super healthy diet and kept her extra warm with her sleeping inside. We also prayed that she would be with us for a long time yet.
In this video the vets come back to the farm to do another checkup and we wait in anticipation for the news the next day on what the scans have shown.
