My top 5 are 1) Jalsaghar :- Satyajit Ray ji directed Bengali movie 2) Do bigha zameen :- Balraj sahni ji was main lead in this. 3) Piyasa :- guru dutt's masterpiece 4) Thapad :- tapsee pannu as main lead 5) apu sansar :- again Satyajit ray's bengali iconic movie . A recent example of a South Indian movie creating waves everywhere is Aavesham, it’s a phenomenal movie. I don’t understand Malayalam but I loved that movie. That’s the power of soft imagining that’s benefiting India so much but unfortunately we never used our cinema like that the recent example is rise of Korean culture in world.

Me being from Southern part of India, I can say more than the commercial South Indian Movies, the story oriented low budget South movies are much better and they make you feel, think and cry if you watch them in the local language (if one can understand) instead of watching the dubbed or remake versions.

Bitter reality is - Since Film making is gone into hands of Islamists/Muslims, Bollywood which used to see Silver, Platinum Diamond jubilee now relies heavily on PR stunts and bears heavy losses. The contents has gone bad to worst. Nudity, Gaali etc has become normal and funny part is Pakistani(which came into being on the name of Islam) enjoy such contents. Most of Indian/Bollywood viewers are in Pakistan, Bangladesh. Article 370 is good movie. It might not have done good on moneywise but It entertained us a lot.

I don't know why not allow Indian movies. Same way The Legend of Moula Jutt had higher ticket and people paid, we can put 200 rupees tax on big budget movies (be it Superhero or Khan's movies) and use that money to give loans to local producers to make movies.

He did not talk about the art movies of Malayalam, Tamil industries nor did he talk much about the slice of life, heavily influenced by literary works of old Bangali movies. He has not talked about the parallel cinemas of Govind Nihalani, Shyam Benegal, Ritwik Ghatak, Adoor Gopalkrishnan, Girish Karnad, Mrinal Sen, B Narsing Rao, Nagesh Kukunoor, Balu Mahender etc etc. The new wave of realistic movies seen both in Bollywood, Kollywood, Tollywood(less but it is changing) and the ever present ever pleasing, Malayalam movies, the new Assamese entrants like The Village Rockstars ( i read that Assamese have made some beautiful movies since 60's). All he could talk was of Sholay, Ramesh Sippy and SRK... tch tch tch. Ever watched the mythological movies made in Telugu which was considered as the power house and preeminent centre if Hindu Mythological Movies in India, the source of inspiration for Rajamouli? Iqbal saab, you still have a long way to go about Indian cinema...

Kashmir files and kerala story worked becoz they were based on genuine people related stuff who suffered from atrocities in reality and there is enough proof of it confirm it .Kashmir files worked becoz a movie named shikara was made to show the exodus of kashmiri pandits in late 80s but the community itself cursed it and then vivek agnihotri made a proper movie on them .While there is a netflix series named Caliphate which revolves almost on the same lines as kerala story how innocents are framed into joining ISIS using islam ,only difference is in india non muslim girls were on the radar of ISIS recruiters.
