I was on the Chevron Oregon years ago after overhauling its GE gas turbine main engine in Portland. The ride down the Columbia River was astounding. After it got past Astoria and was at sea, one of the Officers invited me to try the helm. I tried to keep the compass heading....but it was darned near impossible! It was like standing on a 2x4 on an ice patch. Whatever you did on the helm showed up 30 seconds later. I tried to keep the bow pointed toward a cloud on the horizon. Impossible! They used the bow thruster a lot going down the Columbia. I had no clue as to how difficult that journey was. Your excellent video brought back memories. Thank you!
