Listening to these hits again after so many years, it makes me realize how LITTLE he actually shreds. He spends so much time building the chord progressions, outlining the themes, building tension, and he keeps coming back to them. What a consummate artist.
I'm proud to say I have the original cd with the alien on the cover & saw him live listen to a song called all my friends are here for you progression loved this guy since he first hit the seen & he's going out with Sammy & the circle as a tribute to Eddie who else could do it maybe Nuno but I'll take Joe Satch
Totally. Joe creates and plays musical art of the highest level His songs are created to convey emotions and ideas in a very particular way. The number of notes and difficulty of the passages have no bearing on why Joe includes them in his artistic sonic arrangements
This guy is an absolute beast, we love what he plays and how he plays.. but he loves it even more, it looks so easy and smooth..... To note he's 67 years old showing he is the 7 stars General of the music.
Joe is the best of all the instrumental players. His songs and melodies stick with you forever. His shredding is also melodically strong and memorable. There are lots of great players out there but none do it like Joe.
I was just listening to this album yesterday and man, what a scorcher of a tune! Not only that, but his subtle use of the wah pedal is outstanding. He reslly gets more out of it by using it so minimally.
Après tant d'années à jouer, on sent bien qu'il y prend toujours autant de plaisir : balancement avec le tempo, gestuelle empreinte de feeling, sourires etc... Un plaisir communicatif . Un grand musicien
Thank You so much for posting this Stephen.. a Legendary show for sure in the most unbelievably intimate of "Venues". I can only hope that Joe may do a Official video (DVD / Blu Ray) for this at some point.. maybe as a Bonus Disc for a release or as a stand alone Release. Amazing 🤘😎🤘
If he can still play this well at 67 there is hope for all of us, myself included. Granted so few of us will ever make it as an instrumentalist I can impress my friends lol.
Que bonita musica has creado Joe!
Circles was the beginning of the contemplative aspects of Surfing With The Alien's B side. Preceded by the barbarian opera of Hill Of The Skull, and leading into the eastern psychedelia of Lords Of Karma, Circles reveals hidden truths of Satriani; Less is more, but more is still more.
It’s been years since I’ve listened to Surfing w/the Aliens album. Soon as Joe switched over I knew it immediately. One of my faves and got me hooked on Joe Satch.
I'd much prefer to see Joe in this setting with backing track vs a live setting. The vantage would be amazing and he wouldn't be distracted by everything going on live. Thanks for these vids!
I’m such a fender Jazzmaster freak, but my affinity for Joe’s excellent taste in taking postmodern replicative media production and using it in a similar way that Lichtenstein did by using techniques that were designed for mass production for one of a kind renditions makes my experience and upper education in contemporary art super appreciative. but I’ve always had a spot for Ibanez after seeing a pair of 1980s Roadstars in blue and red - first electric guitars I ever saw in person. I was hooked from that day onward at around 8-10 yo. Loving all of the renditions and finishes I’ve seen so far. My own visual arts would translate very well to guitars - just wish I had the $ to do it.
