Circuit Mono Station VS Circuit // Which is right for you. 

Novation shot themselves in the foot with naming that unruly analog beast "circuit mono station." While I get it's supposed to be a bass station controlled by a circuit sequencer, the name just ends up being confusing. The Mono Station couldn't be more different than the Circuit. It's an analog 2-part synth, the Circuit is a groovebox. The Station is an IO-handy bulky rig synth, the Circuit is a minimal portablism unit.

Being as a beginner, i can say i almost wanted to buy the mono before the circuit but im glad i got the circuit. Looks are deceiving

So I already own an SP 404 and I have a pretty large library of One Shots in my external hard drive.... I’m looking for something where I can create sounds and sequences without a DAW. Maybe the Mono Station is for me in this case? I would absolutely add those tracks to my DAW afterwards to beef it up, but in the creative phase I would like to do it whenever whiteout having to use my MIDI Keyboard and a Laptop.

I think you prefer the circuit, I watched a few of your videos and ive never seen you use the station once !

so the Mono Station does send MIDI information but does it send what analog information with it as well? How does that work?

would the mono station be better for synth work and sequencing the sp404sx? Seems to me that everything the circuit lacks I can essentially replace with the sp404 because Ill likely be using the sp for drums and samples which would then be sequenced on the mono station. And from there I will be able to sequence the synth and the sp404 at the same time? Sorry if this was confusing but I am really trying to figure this all out especially since the circuit is almost impossible to get right now and the mono station seems to fit my needs and its available. Please if anyone could help me I would be greatly appreciative.

Hey, so with the novation circuit i can basically have 2 x 8 pattern sequencer with each 6 voice Polyphonic, im right? I also would use it for midi. Plus i have my sampled drums covered. For me this sound like a no brainer, for less than 200 Euro

Can i control both of this from roli seaboard midi keyboard?

I have a question Ricky, can I upload samples I record like from movies or fake news to add flavor sound like ebm industrial musick in any novation circuits? I use the octatrack to record clips samples from external signal audio like my computer or synths can this do that, or at least can samples clips from the MacBook Logic Pro / live Ableton be added to the sd card and use it in this novations

Man, I have a possibly silly question - can you get pad sounds out of the Mono Station? Or is it just a bass synth? All the videos I've found have been using it for basslines. I have bass and drums covered, but I'm lacking in hardware that can do pads and also need something to sequence my gear with more than 16 steps.

Can I control both with a Keystep? I have a Circuit and I know it connects, haven’t yet worked out how to use it fully with it. Went and ordered a Mono Station so am wondering how well that’d work. What about connecting them to things like a Monologue, Minilogue or Volcas?

thx for the comparison mate. towards the end you said, that you would use the circuit's synth sequenzer for external gear via midi (having turned the internal synth down) and then use the drum section... would it be possible to do something similar with the mono station? ...like use one of the synths to generate internal sound and use the other sequenzer (2nd synth turned down) to adress external gear (like novation peak for instance)? my idea is to ude the mono station's sequenzer for peak but still have it running it's own sound... hope I could explain clearly what I mean... appreciate your help!

It's not portability, I HAVE to have hardware sampling. I'll go crazy man lol hopefully one day they'll have both oscillating and sampling. NO DEAL

I use Circuit all the time, for three years now, Monostation I've never heard a video which makes me go wow! I suppose I have analogue synths covered with two Moog Mother 32's but Monostation just doesn't attract me.
