Harmonica in video: key of A. Purchase Looping Blues Riffs on sale for $9. www.harmonica123.com/product/... This lesson is similar to what I'm showing you here.
Wow, I've been wondering for a while or blues soloists played notes in riffs so rapidly and this explains it really well. It also really helped me understand improv. and soloing much better. thanks so much!
Hey Ronnie! I know I'm a little late on this one but this video just flipped the light switch in my head I believe. What a great video. Thank you so much. You're the man. You always respond to my emails within a couple hours or less which must be tough so bless you Ronnie. You are a great help and must be a great person. Keep Harpin' brother
That 'beam of light' may be 'a sign'... hah! Anyway... that was a perfect description of what 'the solo' is all about. I mean if a performer, in rock or blues or funk... or whatever, can get by without playing a triplet 'loop' (I like to call 'em) that is way above my sensibilities - everybody - I mean EVERYBODY plays those!! Tri-pul-et - Tri-pul-et - Tripul-et!!! Some guys get lost in the 'loop' while they're making 'plans'... on where to go next! You nailed it for me, man! Perfect description on the bends, the routines, explanation, demonstration... BOOM! In... a... nutshell! I have enough info to keep me working for a WEEK! Thanks a lot! - jef G
Thanks. First day of this video. I did great. Im gonna estch this vifeo every morning at 7am until i master every technical thing. You do i have the first part down , im gonna see if i can master evertjing in this video in month. And then im gonna post video of me playing. Thanks for your time and help.
Dude thanks so much for sharing this...you're a great player....charismatic...charming....intelligent....and your love of the instrument is infectious....
Thanks for this. I'm a beginner struggling with triplets and this was helpful. I really like what you said about soloing and where does the music lead you, music is a surprising and beautiful thing.
Learning your bent blues licks right now. I am excited to test out a few at a Casino gig tonight. If folks want to learn the harp, hang out with Ronnie Shellist and he will get you some great material.
I just let things flow when I play, never really thinking about where the riff is going. Playing from the heart has made me a better player as I have gotten older.
I wanted to go to the harmonica event you and gussow, but tickets? im really far away in Lancaster California but I have a car and I love the harmonica and I would like to see you guys play that would be really neat and exciting to me.
Love this. Can you focus a lesson in the high octaves in 1st position? You touched on it here. Hard to find lessons on that. That's where I am weakest. Safe to say tons of harp players are weak up there. Thanks, man
That little riff around 2:55 is something I kinda picked up from Aerosmith's "Pink" haha just moved up to the 4 and 5. Gives me something good to practice. I can get these but mine still sound kinda...... squeaky haha
i may not write tabs out but I often call them out in my videos. put the time in and develop your ear. that's the best way to begin writing your own tablature.
You are a wonderful musician, I don't know how you don't use Marine Bands, You really deserve a better tone! Those jap harps are beaultiful but sounds dead compared with a Hohner.
