In remembrance of the 80th anniversary of the 1944 Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Hartford circus fire, this episode of Circus History Live! features 86-year-old circus fire survivor: Nancy Savin. On July 6, 1944, six-year-old Nancy was sitting near the top of the bleacher section (the "blues") to the right of the bandstand when the fire broke out. She and her family escaped by going to the top row of seats and sliding down the side poles and ropes.
