Love the honest review! I was really intrigued by Cirque's theme for this collection, but I find a lot of these shades quite unflattering. However, they did a pretty good job translating the concept of certain fabrics and materials into polishes... I just wish they were prettier 🙈
I totally get what you mean! like the gold, pearl and bar glitter are ones I would be like.. ew lol. BUT I see the vision, and it makes me appreciate them more! maybe except the gold, that specific shade of yellow just doesnt do it for me personally but I think it would’ve been nice it to have a little more oomph too..
LOL i’m sorry!!! 🙈 it’s especially apparent in certain angles where you don’t see the holo sparkle, and they look like these dark pieces lmao. I even joked with my partner that it also looks like the sink after he shaves 🤣
Would be curious to see how Mother of pearl would look if the first layer wasn't magnetized. I had high hopes for this one, but I've been bitten before with Cirque's jelly magnetics =/
I can try and share that on my stories later, you know the clip where its velvet next to no effect? I’m showing 2 coats so the first coat basically looks like that but with a little more nail line lol so very pearlescent and shimmery but sheer :)
@@PolishedYogiYeah, I think I can kind of imagine it. I'm guessing that's how they got the look on the product page because it DEFINTELY doesn't look that opaque and pearly with JUST the cat-eye effect!
Oooh love your Shibori art. Lovely swatches as usual! I realized my favorite Cirque finish is actually their milky jellies (not their standard jellies), so I’ll wait for another collection like that though these are cute!
thank you so much! I ended up loving it soo much more than I thought I would haha their jellies are amazing for those smoky looks! and yeah I think I mighttt prefer those milky jellies too, I love the versatility of having it sheer or building it up in a few coats.
They posted a photo of Gold Lamé on a darker skintone and I thought it looked really pretty, but I think for those of us with pink-y undertones, it's def a miss. And that Serpentine looks like the green version of the new Do Good polish, Brightside, both are gorgeous!! I'm also lowkey loving Mother of Pearl, I bet over white or even something like Linen would really give it a chance to shine
oh i missed that swatch pic! yeah i can def see it popping against deeper skin tones. and omg you’re right about Serpentine being the green version of Brightside!! i love that finish, it reminds me of their old Bon Bon collection and i would love to see those revisited in more shades! ✨✨ and omggg wait you’re a genius! layering Mother of Pearl over Linen would look amazing 🤯 but i’m still shocked i’m into it even on its own!
youre so right about the bar glitters! my first thought was porcupine quills but hair shavings is so accurate lol. i usually dont even mind bar glitters in combination with other glitters but.... 🙈 haha
I can see that! maybe if they were matte and colorful I would like them more, in certain angles when you dont see the shine thats where it looks more like hair to me 🤣 but yess Serpentine is a stunner! 🐍
Amazing review as always! Like you said, I think I am most excited for the tortoise shell set! The collection is super fun, but the only shade that really called out to me was the blue one…thankfully I have Zero Degrees, so glad you used that for a comparison polish😊🙂
thank you so much friend! 🥰 yess the tortoise set is probably one of the most exciting things cirque has released this year for me lol like finallyyy!! and yeah while I do loveee Blue Velvet, I don’t think it tops my love for Zero Degrees hehe 🤩 so happy you found the comparison helpful! 💙
oo yeah I can see that!! I was thinking of just using a blurring base coat or something in case whatever cream base alters the color, but it really could be the best way to go for this shade!
I tend to not bother with magnetics, but I do love the velvet effect whenever I see it. However, I’ve never really gotten it to work for me, but how you describe Cirque & ILNP makes sense why theirs do work. I want the torty set & im tempted by the blue magnetic. On, and I wonder if mixing cocoa or mahogany with Marsala and then the silver magnetic as a sandwich would get the ‘cherry mocha’ you were trying? Maybe a tiny bit of cherry if that’s not red enough?
yeah magnetics can definitely be tricky! even the magnets can have an effect where some aren’t as strong as others apparently? I don’t think i’ve had that experience though. but yeah if you go back to see my other swatches of their magnetics from earlier this year they pretty much all looked incredible with a velvet effect! but yess so happy about the tortie set coming back!! 🐢 and ooh yeah I wonder if trying Mahogany instead of Cocoa would help, I was even thinking I might need to try Lucky Jelly for more color, and maybe one of the browns over it ? Marsala was pretty but I think too muted 🍒
Lol omg I must be a rare member of the bar glitter fanclub because I hard *LOVE* Twinkle Tweed! 😆 I picked up this one and Serpentine which is also s t u n n i n g. Cirque does the best job at their iridescent-flakies-in-a-jelly formula imo.
lol i knoww Twinkle Tweed was one of those love it or hate it kind of polishes 😝 I’m glad you love it though!! and yess Serpentine was SO gorgeous too, I def would love to see more colors in that formula tbh 🤩
Thank you for swatching these Stefanie. I really didn't care for many of these. I haven't purchased anything from Cirque in a long time. I just do not like what they have been coming out with lately. The only thing I look forward to are the Vice Collections...
of course! 🥰 and aw yeah I think a lot of people haven’t loved Cirque’s collections this year or even last year. yeah their Vice shades are super iconic, I think at this point more people look forward to their re releases rather than their new shades though.. 😅
So i think the Indigo jelly is named after the dye that comes from the indigo plant (a deep blue with a little green) rather than the rainbow indigo (which leans purple) - at least this is my theory as to why it's named as such 😅
oooh that makes so much sense, I can’t believe I completely overlooked that when mentioning shibori uses indigo as a dye LOL 🙈 so embarrassing, thank you for this! 💙
Haha I know the price points are 😩😩 but they are doing a Black Friday sale! I think they posted about it today, it’s 20% off with a Gift with Purchase over $80 !
I don't have any bar glitter polishes, so i don't know enough to say if I like them or not, but... your description of them being hairs are absolutely OMG. 🤣 probably means I shouldn't entertain that!
lmaoo i’m sorry if I ruined it for you! 🙈 I think they can be cute, but as like an accent with other glitters lol, its just when the light doesn’t hit it directly and it looks super dark that it reminds me of hair 🤣
Also, I've only tried a jelly once and not from Cirque, but it was a dark brown jelly. I found out I really dislike jellies on me cus the only time I'll ever allow visible nail line for myself are deliberate neutral/pink/sheer white palette cleansers. 🥲
Thanks for the quick swatches and the honest review! I picked up the tortoiseshell set, cosplay lamé, blue velvet, and mother of pearl. Usually I love cirques magnetic formula, and I’m hoping that the gold shade works well on me since I have a warmer undertone. I’m kinda nervous about that one now! Hopefully if it’s unflattering I can still use it for nail art!
of course, so happy to hear you picked up a few shades!! I think the gold will suit warmer undertones and skin tones a lot better, but keep us updated! yeah either way I think it’s a nice gold for nail art, especially for the holiday season! 🎁
Excited about the tortoise colors. I thought the blonde one gave cow hide vibes. Bar glitters seem like a fun concept but just don’t work. I’m not as excited about this collection as I was for the Far, Far Away collection. I still have to save up for that one. I might pick up Blue Velvet. No one is doing a blue-based red right now. It’s a classic for a reason.
haha yeah I mentioned the blonde tortie kind of looking like cow print in my last vid lol! I can see it 🐮 and yeah I think bar glitters on their own don’t work but I’m really curious to try them in a glitter gradient so its like these little accents, I think that would look better. oh yeah this def pales compared to Far Far Away lol that was stunning!! you'll love those, hopefully they’ll have a good sale this year!
aw I mean I know there’s a lot of people who will buy magnetics and use them with no effect, idk if i’d say its worth doing it with Cirque polishes but this one is definitely a pretty shade!
I LOVE jellies too! If I have a specific color in mind that I want, I usually try to get a jelly version rather than a creme. Do you know how mustard jelly compares to saffron jelly?
Yess I haven’t experimented much with layering jellies but I’ve seen some gorgeous combos!! I really should do it more often. And I shared a quick bottle comparison of those + a few others in my IG stories, planning to do swatch comps tomorrow! ☺️
You looked gorgeous! I love the hair!!💕 Cosplay Lame, Blue Velvet (I like it without the magnetic effect), Serpentine , Indigo Jelly, Mustard Jelly (lolol I think it’s so pretty) Cobalt of the Shibori set are my favorites! Your tortoise shell design was pretty! Ugh I do not like Bar glitter 😬 The comparison of Red Bttms and MC Moondust and Lucky Jelly was fantastic! They were practically identical! Fun video 💃🏿
aw thank you so much!! 🥰 hehe so glad you pretty much liked these except for Twinkle Tweed, I figured that would be a divisive polish 😂 oh yeah Cobalt is intense!! and yay thank you, I definitely think doing a traditional tortie design just looks better haha I’m really excited to try it again! and right! I really thought Lucky Jelly was going to be too dark, but it was near perfect! I’m glad I was able to recreate Red Bttms with those, I feel like a lot of people might already have those 2 shades or something similar!
Blue Velvet and Serpentine are definitely the standouts in this collection! I'm kinda curious how Serpentine compares to Mooncat T-Hex, I just got it in their lunar sale and now I'm wondering if I need both 😅 (as a die hard green polish lover). I wish Cirque also brought back their amethyst set, that one was so beautiful from all the pics I've seen online.
totally agree, those are two of my top 3 bc I also like red bttms even if its basic 😝 and omggg i completely forgot about that shade! Even tho they’re both green flakie bombs, I think they’re different enough that you can justify having both esp as a green lover, maybe for others one of them would be enough lol I can share a comp in my stories later today though! and ugh yess the amethyst set was soo pretty! 😩💜
I think I am still too new to nail polish. Why does everyone hate bar glitters? I am wearing Holo Taco Bring Me the Teal topped with Sally Hansen Glitter Glam, which is a blue-green bar iridescent bar glitter. It is so pretty! It looks like I have pine needles on my nails.
What an interesting collection this is. I am so with you on the bar glitters. 😆 I just cannot help but think they look like hairs! I do really like Blue Velvet, Red Bttms, and of course Serpentine! And I feel like I will kick myself if I don’t pick up the jelly’s. But…I don’t know how I feel about mahogany and mustard.
hahah i’m so glad you see it too 😅 and yeah those are my top 3 shades from this collection too, I don’t think I stressed enough how much I liked Serpentine! I know we get a lot of flakie jellies but this one was soo so pretty, I wouldn’t mind seeing it in other colors 👀 and im pretty sure the jellies are permanent this time! so maybe you can wait to see how it looks on more people before buying, so you dont regret it lol. I can see Mustard being the most divisive one, like i get it for the set but its also kindaaa ugly 🤣
Man I was really hoping to see nail swatches of the blues, especially since I alresdy own cobelt jelly. I remember watching cirque try to recreate the velvet effect with blue velvet on insta but they held the wand perpendicular to the nail and it ended up looking like nothing, just some faint sparkle lol. Looks super pretty when the velvet effect is done correctly tho
sorry, I didn’t think swatches were necessary with how wildly different they look! maybe I can see them looking similar on the first coat where it’s super sheer, but you’d still be able to tell them apart (and obviously even more so with the more coats you do bc it intensifies the color). I can try and do some swatches of this this weekend on my stories! and yeah that was actually my friend who did that swatch, idk if Cirque told her to do it that way? but it definitely was a super faint sparkle with that technique 😅 which who knows maybe some people actually prefer!
Your leg hair isn't holographic!? 🤣I don't mind a bar glitter as long as it's a smaller bar. And I agree with you that the tortoise release seems...a little too late. But these are still super pretty!
omg i WISH, I def wouldn’t shave nearly as often!! 😂 oh yeah I can see smaller bar glitters being a bit more wearable. & okay i’m glad its not just me! I guess it didn’t make sense to launch them earlier alongside the previous collections which didn’t match or were the collabs, it makes sense to do it with this one. but wish I had more time with them 🥲
yeah Cirque’s jelly range is insaaane! I think its the only thing they really have over other brands. They’re pricey, but great if you’re into jellies!
@@PolishedYogi I think getting a few jellies and a mix of flakie toppers will unlock so many combinations, I'm into flakies and so many look very pretty but I don't have the budget to buy all of them! I also tried out putting jellies on top of creams, and it works very well too!
Oop… I bought Mother of Pearl yesterday and now I’m thinking I should’ve waited for your video 😅 BUT I went back today to get the tortoiseshell set today. I’ve been thinning out my original bottles for the last couple of years and they’re just not the same anymore.
aw yikes, I mean I think it has some potential lol 🙈 but yay for getting the tortoise set!!! ugh yeah I can imagine too much thinner would be a bad thing, they really were making people suffer not bringing these back sooner lol 😩
I thought I would love all things holo. It seems that doesn’t extend quite as far as wearing hair shavings on my nails 😂 Thank you as always for your very honest and transparent reviews. You know I love Cirque but this, like a few of their recent releases, just isn’t ticking the boxes. I was anticipating a big purchase so I’m a little sad…but relieved too!😅 Do you have Lucky Jelly, any of the yellow or orange jellies to compare with Rust and Mustard? Thank you! ❤
LOL I’m sorry if I’ve ruined bar glitters for you now 😝 and yeah I totally understand you Claire!! I kind of have felt the same honestly, where I was a huge Cirque lover but the collections in the last year and a half have mainly been misses 😣 but yeah definitely relieving lol! And I can definitely compare those in my stories tomorrow!! ❤️
I feel like I’m in a toxic relationship with magnetic polishes. I want it to work so badly but inevitably, I always smudge it on the last coat… Maybe Blue Velvet will be different lmaooo I think I’m gonna pass on the rest of the collection. I might pick up some of the jellies tho
LOL nooo ugh the pain of smudgin freshly painted nails 😩 I mean if you work in thinner coats they’ll dry down faster! thick coats generally do take longer to dry but I find that especially true with jellies, you really need to have patience with application 🙈
hey we always love skipping on a collection because that means more money for something else 🤣 but thank you so much for watching & enjoying my review videos!! I really appreciate it 🥰🫶🏼
Another collection that's not for me. I'm trying to remember the last time I was excited for a Cirque release, and man, it's been A WHILE. I've bought only two polishes from them this year and that was back in spring. I don't care much for the returning jellies either and anyway I feel like jellies should be priced way lower.
I definitely agree with thinking their jellies should be priced lower! 😬 that’s crazy you’ve only liked 2 out of everything they released this year! What finishes/colors were they? They definitely have seemed to lost their groove since last year, even if I generally liked a lot of their releases this year. I totally get it though!
@@PolishedYogi They were two shimmers from the Surfer's Crush collection. I've been automatically more critical because of their prices and it's made me realize I could get something better from another brand. I hope they have less releases next year and put more work into cohesive collections with consistently good formulas.
I think mother of pearl is absolutely begging to be used as a topper over a different color. And bar glitter? Nah, you mean hair glitter. I just love it so much when my nails look like I need to shave them 🤢
yeah I can def agree with that esp if using a cat eye effect! but I think it kinda holds up on its own too lol. and LOL i’m so glad you get it about the bar glitters 🤣🙈
This collection is really underwhelming I have to say. I have to say that I found Cirque’s collections this year have been quite boring - the last collection was the first that I actually liked! I was hoping that the holiday collection would be better too…but yea… 😅
I can totally see that and generally agree about their launches this year too, like I personally liked a lot of them but its because they were a lot of shimmers and jellies lol 🙈 yeah the Far, Far Away collection was beautifuuul! and ahh yeah like I think I would’ve been happy with this being the holiday collection bc I like it soo much more than last years, but if they’re planning to release something else in December, then I’m kinda nervous lol 😬 what are you hoping for them to release?
