Rob thanks for sharing, helped me get a quick understanding of the some the DCI config differences. I have a build that is entirely eBGP based and the only benefit it that advertising the border gateways is the same as the other pairings . Wondering if you know any good resources for converged border leaves .
Hi Rob, I'm actually building a greenfield network myself and we're going with BGPEVPN. Can you provide some documentation and/or a book you recommend that describes exactly this architecture in detail?
I followed your steps for Multisite Connectvity. I am receiving routes for vni 10010 on Leaf3 in AS65002 from AS65001. Also my BGW1 and BGW3 can see each other via ebgp and receiving all evpn routes but I can't ping from one site to the other. is there anything we have to do on DCI router.? Please assist.
Hi Rob, I have two bgw in each site. Can I make the connection only between the remote sites or do I need to interconnect the bgw also within each site ?
You could, I don't believe it's a best practice but if you needed to setup a spine to terminate a VTEP, you could. To my knowledge, ACI multisite does exactly that. There's no Border Gateway in ACI multisite, to my knowledge. However, technically there's nothing stopping you from doing it. I don't know if it would work, never tested it out.
I noticed that you didn’t use any cast vtep in this video. I can’t seem to get it to work with any cast vtep. I’m going to try just normal VPC with vxlan and see if I can replicate this.
Hi Rob, is it possible to combine BGW under Spine. is there any reverence configuration for that because , I only find configuration multisite 3 tier desing BGW, SPINE, LEAF.
There might be, but I followed the CVD for it. Config wise I would presume it to be similar to the BGW configuration. When I get some time, I'll lab it up and see if it's possible.
Hey Rob Thanks for this video. In real world implementation do we use border gateways as separate devices connected to spines like other leafs or do we use border leafs as border gateways as well?
You can do either, the BGW is a leaf terminating a DCI connection, you can use a converged leaf terminating external connections (border leaf), DCI (border gateway) and endpoints
@@RobRikerTechChannel Thanks Rob Is it possible for you to share configs for border leafs. Also which nxos 9000v version you are using in this lab for border gateway
hi rob another question does the vn segments need to match between vnis across dcs ? i understand multicast group doesnt need to match as between sites we use ingress replication?
Hello Rob. I was trying to do multisite in pnet but have the problem with IR where arp is not working. If I configured static arp on both hosts the ping between them is working fine but without static arp ping is not working. I captured the arp traffic on fabric site interface on bgw but dont see this traffic replicated on dc site of BGW. The BGW is directly connected. Did you have this type of problem? What version of n9000v do you use?
@@RobRikerTechChannel thanks Rob for your answer. I will try using 9.2.2 and check if the problem persist. Right now i was using 9.3.4 and 9.3.8 in bgw.
@@khiz5755 i think that it is important because the rewrite is based on RT what is based on VNI number so you have to configured same vni on both sides.
