I am shocked you would miss out the White Lions of Chrace, Sabretusks and the Khemrian Warsphinx. I'll let the Kislevite Frost Leopard slide since it's technically a concoction of Creative Assembly, even if GW did have a hand in it. Good video!
Oh my gosh, I had never seen this before - what a precious mini! Completely by accident the other day researching something else I also stumbled upon a lovely little cat familiar from the FS33 Witches Items set. So, this is far from a comprehensive list, sadly. I guess they leave me room for volume 2!

In Warhammer Age of Sigmar mentioned a lot of cats! You can read about them in Soul Wars (book by Josh Reynolds, 2018) and Soulbound adventures. Some fan facts: - Cats are born with natural Witch-Sight, which allows them to perceive ethereal or otherworldly beings. - The people of Glymmsforge place such value on the creatures, that the image of a mouser is even incorporated in the amethyst-and-sable heraldry of the city in recognition of their importance to the city defences. - The Mother of All Cats is said to be an ancient god, who was the mother of the first cats of the Mortal Realms. It is said she escaped the Ruinous Powers, slipping into a crack in the Realms that even they dare not enter.
Bet the Great Horned Rat and his skaven followers are just super thrilled to have a cat deity wandering around on the loose. :) Need a centerpiece "miniature" of her that scales out to the size of a barn. GW can get some crossover sales to the Scandinavian/Icelandic market, the Yule Cat's pretty popular over there.
12:15 The cat-man-mutant on the cover of Ignorant Armies is the main character's brother. IIRC he was kidnapped by Chaos marauders as a child, our hero eventually tracks them down and by the time he does so the kid's gone pretty far down the path of the chaos champion with extensive mutations. They wind up fighting each other, the loyal family retainer who's been playing support through the whole book blocks a killing blow for the hero and his spilled blood fulfills some prophecy that redeems the soul of the lost brother and reverts him to human form and his original state of innocence. So bad end for faithful Vukotich, but both the brothers wind up all right in the end. Decent read, at least in my hazy nostalgic memory of it.

@@jordansorceryThe book itself is an anthology of eight stories, the one I'm describing is the only one I can recall the details of offhand. I don't think it's been collected in a more modern printing anywhere like the Orfeo and Konrad trilogies were, but I might be wrong. Probably not too hard to find used, although I wouldn't overpay for it.
@@jordansorcery It did, although some of that is probably because it was the cover story and that Blanche illo of it immediately brings at least some of the details to mind. Also there was a WD article statting up the characters in it for WFRP, something they did for Drachenfels and at least one of teh Orfeo novels as well.
This is right - the story is the one that lends it's name to the anthology. It's by Jack Yeovil, a.k.a Kim Newman. In the story the monster is supposed to look more like a wolf than a cat though - the younger brother's name was Wolfgang von Mecklenberg, and I remember a line about him resembling "the beast that shared his name" or something.
Didn't have a table big enough for crossbows and catapults so we played on the floor, if the dog ran through and knocked something over we called it an act of dog and that unit was dead.

Back in the 90s there was a local WFB player who put an enormous amount of work into writing up his own cat-person army book for the game, using pretty much every felinoid figure he could find on the market. The last time I saw him he'd gotten the rules pretty well polished and had a draft copy of the book that was actually looking pretty professional, decent artwork and all, could've mistaken it for areal army book if it had been bound. He pestered GW about making it canon for years, and when they refused and told him he couldn't self-publish it I think he planned to release it online free. Don't know if ever did so, but it might be out there somewhere if you hunt for it.
Aw, I really expected that story to end with an "and that player was..." and it turned out they now work at GW! A whole cat man army, fantastic! Gotta respect that level of passion and commitment!
@@jordansorcery Sadly, no. I can't even remember his name, he was just one of those guys at the FLGS and I was more of a 40K and Full Thrust player in those days than WFB so he was kind of on the periphery of my circle of usual opponents. Sure did love talking about his project though, and I remember consulting with him about what kinds of cat-person minis were out there.
I have a 1980s Ork Runtherd riding the cat named Max from the 1987 GI Joe Spearhead action figure in my army. the scale changed turns him from a shin-scratcher to a maneater.
@@jordansorcery Mine seem to have a real beef with the dice, more so than minis. I have to fish them out of the heating ducts around here pretty regularly.
you missed the lahmian vampire 1 mounted and on foot from WHFB 6th edition. the mounted version had a cat sitting in her lap and the on foot version had it standing between her feet. some of GWs best vapire sculpts
One of the old Mordheim studio terrain pieces has a little black cat wearing some sort of devil mask hidden in one corner. It's visible in one of the WD battle reports

Small correction on the Phyrr Cats. Well, either correction, or pointing out of a different, older background. Anyway, Phyrr Cats were first (at least to my knowledge) mentioned in the Dark Heresy sourcebook Creatures Anathema. They are native to the forests of the death world Phyrr. Aside from their considerable size, some growing as big as a small pony, and prowess in stealth, they are notable for two things. Like any living being on Phyrr, plant or animal, they are lethally toxic to humans. In addition to this they have some natural psychic abilities they use when hunting and the presence of a human psyker to them is as if they were constantly poked. Which, I am sure you can imagine, usually results in savage attacks from Phyrr Cats. Rogue Traders some times will travel to Phyrr to capture them so they can sell them to nobles, either as exotic additions to game reserves or as protection against pyskers, which is how they found their way to Necromunda. I've really liked those ever since I first read about them :) Also, Felinids were first mentioned in the 6th edition rulebook as a stable strain of abhumans also called Homo Sapien Hirsutus, hailing from a planet called of Carlos McConnell. WolfdawgArt on twitter has draw a lot of excellent art of Felinids and done a couple of conversions as well. Not really important to the subject, but worth mentioning, I thought.
It just so happened that you did not mention my favorites : the frost sabres from the Ogre Kingdoms/Ogor Mawtribes. The dumb looking ones from the original release of the army (who look like Diego in Ice Age) and the good looking one from Warhammer Underworld recenty released.
@@jordansorcery That being said your video is great fun and I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work. I wouldn't rule out Diego being used as a reference as the original Ogre Kingdoms were not devoid of animated influences (the Ogre Bulls in particular look a lot like the huns of Mulan which may or may not be incidental).
Nice idea for a video and you did a very good job. Looking forward to see more. As you mentioned the roleplaying game I think it is a little mistake to not include the god Ranald and his cat-connection.
There are so many wonderfully characterful minis from the early days, I love them! I think recent ranges for Warcry, Underworlds, and Necromunda have been really good though - lots of unique heroes and villains in there too!
Always wanted a Gyrinx. Those Escher cats are scary. There was a creepy diseased feline in an Underworlds Nurgle pack with 2 Blight Kings and a bloated sorceress. I like those frostcats the Ogres have.. stealing the idea from the Wood Elves if you ask me. So far the only cats from GW in my miniature collection are the C22 Weretiger, my Wood Elf Animal Handlers big cats and cats attached to witches and sorceress miniatures from Night Horrors and early Citadel wizards. Fun vid, good to know I wasnt the only one with a subscription to the Hammerhal Herald .. dont find it on my doorstep anymore though, maybe those thieving goblins steal it along with the milk bottles.
Great shout, I’d completely forgotten about that Nurgle catling! Sounds like you’ve got a good clowder of citadel cats in your collection already! I miss the Herald, it was so fun!
@@jordansorcery Wilbur the Warlock would surely nod with the wise conviction accumilated from many years dealing with the complexity of magick and the mysterious threads of fate, confirming you probably do. And of course if Sir Hector had feline friends, then imagine the horror when the Quest party awake to find themselves turned into cats where the only cure for the curse can be found in the dungeon objective room .. Meowhammer Quest, the prrrfect game for any occasion.
Im not sure if its cannon but isnt there a race of cat people in the 40k universe, i know theres been alot of memes and japes about them looking like furries and even made an appearance in the emporers text to speech by bruva Alfabusas, i miss Kitten
