To people getting error messages and / or can't find their file when importing the heightmap: Here's my solution: Copy all the numbers on screen at 0:22, don't rotate the PNG as was said, then increase the resolution from 1081 x 1081 to 4096 x 4096, and put that PNG file into your "AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II\Heightmaps"
@@_1MAP0TAT0_ then, you're doing it wrong, if the folder or path doesn't exist, then you'll either need to create them yourself manually, or you can create a dummy height map via the in game editor to create the necessary paths and folders.
you need to make a folder in Appdata/LocalLow/CollosalOrder/Cityskylines II and then call the folder exactly "Heightmaps" if you spell it differently it wont work, the heightmaps you want to use must be 16 bit and 4096 x 4096
@@bend911games man this mod gave me hope to try out this game again, but nope collosal order wants more toxicity by preventing us from doing things we want to do...
Yes, solved this yesterday! You have to go to: %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II\ Then create a folder named Maps and then a subfolder inside Maps named Heighmaps. After that you can go to editor and see your files but maybe an error will occur and I'm stucked at this point. That's the problem to solve today 😂
I already did it and i keep getting error. Looks like the map website was for CS1 and not compatible with cs2. we'll have to wait i guess. Theres a much complicated way doing it so its not worth trying imo@@ELPasqua95

For anyone still having problems with this like I was. I was able to trick the game. Export the heightmap from the map editor, you dont even need to make any changes, just name it and hit export. When you go to upload in-game, place it in AppData\LocalLow\CollosolOrder\Cities Skylines II\HeighMaps. There is now two files, a png of your height map and a cid file. Place your desired heightmap in the folder, delete the .png of the games exported heightmap, and rename yours to be what the previous export was. Go back to the game, close the export menu and reopen it and youll be able to import it properly
My game doesn't even give me the option to go into my files when i try to import the height map. It just stays in game and tries to give me the nonexistent maps I have in game already.
Increase the resolution from 1081 x 1081 to 4096 x 4096, and put that PNG file into your "AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II\Heightmaps" you should find it there then
Did you have any issues with it saying "Incorrect format. must be a 4096x4096 grayscale 16bit channel depth" Changed the size of the image to 4096 in MS paint and photoshop and tried a few different formats too but always end up with that error@@brtnik2457
you can speed up the water simulation speed developer tool -> simulation -> water. i usually set water simulation speed to 32x and game simulation to 8x. game can crash if you turn it up to high.
@@Deectator It's called "Heightmaps" It'll be in your appdata cs2 folder after the export. You put your new heightmaps there. You next error is solved in a comment above^^
As of 15 January, this procedure is not working. As soon as you start typing in the IMPORT field, the LOAD button at the bottom right of the screen should immediately highlight. It does not. I don't know if the last update changed things.
I also cant import the heightmap. I changed the size to 4096x4096 pixels but it still doesnt work. Does anyone have an idea how to change size without changing bit depth? My picture has 32 bit instead of 16 and i can only change down to 8 bit with my apps. But with 8 it also doesnt work.
Use GIMP. "heigthmap.skydark" gives you 16 bit png, and if you scale it to 4096x4096 in GIMP and save it as png, you save it as 16 bit. The point where I have a problem is importing worldmap and heightmap with the correct size. There are altitude differences between the playable area and the worldmap. I download the heightmap by setting it to 14,352km. How many km should I set the worldmap to? If you have any knowledge about this, can you help me?
@@alexlopez23_ how did you do it? the game just doesnt see my heightmap, i changed it to 4096x4096 and did the same settings as he did and i put it in the right folder
