A lot of stuff for console/vanilla players to be excited about, for modded PC players it is more of a convenience to have not to manage so many mods anymore. The expanded map out of the box is of course the biggest plus (of course PC players had the 81 tile mode since forever and an 81 tile map is larger than the new maps... so there's that). The management aspect of a city has been changed quite a bit, so that is most likely the biggest challenge for every player to get used to. The biggest downer is of course that the out of the box game is pretty bare bone, e.g. no biking, airports, campuses, parks. Universities or airports are down to a few selectable buildings (though introducing the concept of modular buildings is exciting, that is something to build upon in the future).

I can't agree more. Some of these are already in the modded gameplay. Although this is a big plus to vanilla players particularly console players. I'm sensing some feature will be reserved for DLC's. And let's see what the workshop can come up with this new game. Thanks for the insight.

The only thing that irritates me is the road wear mechanic. The more a road is worn, the darker it gets due to tire adhesion. It just looks odd when the wear is lighter

Noticed that since the trailer. Hopefully its something you can tweak in the game or maybe a patch update in the future.

I think the roads in good condition could be darker (like new asphalt), and the ones in bad condition could be lighter and maybe a tiny bit redder depending on the map (red roads are caused by materials in the asphalt used). It’d also be nice if they could add cracks and/or potholes to damaged roads as well (bonus points if the potholes are 3D). This would be a lot more realistic. As someone who loves roads a lot in real life and Cities Skylines, I think the way CS II changes the road colors with damage is the opposite of what it should be, despite the fact that I haven’t even noticed that.

With all these new tools etc it’s gonna be interesting to see what little tricks you come up with like you did in cs1. I am curious to find out what the controller layout is for console as they say we’re getting the same ui etc as pc but is it exactly the same though?

Thanks. Yeah, I can't wait. I feel the same too, all hints from few instructions are mentioning mouse and keyboard. Perhaps a better mouse and keyboard support on console, to match the functions of PC's.

You're right, all the demos, beta, instructions are all PCs. It's all about keyboard and mouse. Never ever mentioned about X button or A button. It could be because the devs are using PC, the one who did the trailer city used PC. Our only proof is they say it's for PS5 and XBoxSX also. And they are accepting pre-order for console too. So don't worry.

I had the impression that we would be able to change lane arrows. Is this true or not? It's a big let down if not.

You will be able to control turns with “no left turn” and “no right turn” signs, but I think this is segment-based, not lane-based. It’s a step forward though nonetheless.

@GamingBren is right, it will be limited to restricted turns only, not necessarily changing the lane arrows.
