If you don't have an atomic signal in your country, you can download Clock Wave on iOS or JJYEmulator on Android. Just set your phone to Japan and your watch timezone to Tokyo (TYO) then just change it back once it's done.
Great point about gifting a maintenance free quartz vs mechanical to a non-watch person. Also very true about obtaining a steel bracelet afterwards as more expensive. I like the black, white, and yellow color combo on the dial. Citizen is a brand most of us are familiar with. Nice review as usual.
+whatsonthewrist thanks 😊 I have experienced first hand the bulging eyes on a person when they found out they have to pay $120 for a service of their mechanical watch they didn't expect. The person bought a mechanical for the brand image and actually thought it will be maintenance free because it "doesn't need a battery replacement" 😂😂 I guess part of the fault goes to sellers who never mention the need and cost of a service
Thanks I was worried I was going to have to service it I’ve had it only about 4 months bought on eBay so really not happy but it worked!! Probably gonna sell it as I have a Skyhawks titanium also and to be honest I prefer mechanical watches these days but I’ll keep the Skyhawk it keeps impeccable time as does this watch. It’s amazing having both these watches in your hand everything time wise is the same including the seconds matching perfectly truly a great brand and I set my mechanicals to these as I know they’re incredibly accurate. Good point about giving gift watches that are quartz rather than mechanical. However, I've given my son three mechanical watches over the years as gifts, and he is only 19-years old. My purpose was to teach him that fine things require care and knowledgeable use.
Terrific and quite honest review of a nice looking watch with a serious flaw: non-lumed hour markers !?!? Reasonable arguments pro et contra "Gift Watch" ! Well done !
+MrVoayer thanks, and yes the biggest flaw is the lack of lume on the dial, however even that is better then having lume on the dial and no lume on the hands, as I have seen even watches like that 😂
For reference with regard to the perpetual calendar: "Leap years occur in years exactly divisible by four, except that years ending in 00 are leap years only if they are divisible by 400. So, 1700, 1800, 1900, 2100, and 2200 are not leap years. But 1600, 2000, and 2400 are leap years. The calendar in this watch leaves out the 400 year part of the rule, so the owner of the watch must correct the date on 1 March 2100, as it will display 29 February 2100. I have this watch, and compared with my atomic G-shocks, this watch is more consistent in synchronizing with the atomic clock. I've had days where the G-shocks don't sync and this one just keeps displaying OK when I check if it ever synced during early morning.

Druze Watch Geek , pronasao sam da ovdje u Australija di zivem , vise nema atomiski transmitter. Jedino mozes dobiti signal u Brisbane od Japana ali ja zivem u Sidinju pa nema prilke dobiti taj signal. Otrag 10 godine drzava su skinuli to. To je jebeno jer taj Citizen ima dobra cjena. You say the color-coding of the dials is done incorrectly? Just curious where you based that statement from? Is there a standard or a style guide that's supposed to be followed by every watch manufacturer as far as the dials' colors are concerned? Also, thank you very much for this video. I just got my watch today (at8124-83e) and this video helped me in getting it up and running quickly. 2 years after and this watch still costs about $200+. I consider it a bargain for what it's worth. I just have a hard time seeing the day because it's so small. Also, unfortunately, there is no radio signal in my country. I guess I'll be able to test it when I go to Japan in a few months.
I know this watch isn't ISO 6425 (diver's 200m) certified, but it's supposed to be water resistant up to 200 meters. Would you engage in water sports with this watch? Or is it better to get the Bn0151 for water action?

Can you please help me with the date?? So I realised that the number for the date doesn’t change at 0000 it changes at random times, so I then decided to set the time on exactly 0000 but I just checked my watch and it changed date and it hasn’t even been 24hrs, I checked my battery and it’s full and the radio control is off as there is non reception where I’m from, thanks

+Edgardo Amado if I get my hands on one I will do a review but I don't have it available at the moment. When it comes to the differences, other than the alight difference in case shape, the ONLY difference is that the PRW3500/3510 have atomic function, meaning they are self adjusting. If you live within the coverage of six towers it is a cool tech to have. If you live outside of the coverage area than they are the same, as the atomic function will not work. I would pick whichever I liked the LOOKS of more, as the functions won't be used that much after some time, you will just be wearing it for timekeeping and for that you want the one you find prettier 😉
BTW, since I got this watch from an online marketplace with a considerable discount, I was sort of worried that I might have gotten a fake. However, all the functions work (which is why I was able to set up my watch following your video); so does that mean I should rest assured that it's legit?

Anytime! Your videos are very clear and informative. :) Btw I have a quick question for you. I recently purchased a Citizen AT8020 - 03L (H800 Caliber) at Amazon. Last evening I meddled with it and tried adjusting the timezone between various cities. (It worked as expected) However, finally when I set it to NYC, a little while after when the Hour, Minute and 24H hands were positioning themselves the Seconds hand also started moving in increments of 2. Then after awhile I pressed the crown to its 'closed' position. But this still went on for about an hour or so. (while this was happening none of the buttons in any crown position worked) However I could I reset it. But still this issue was reproducible while changing the timezone. Do you have any idea as to what could have caused this? Thank you.
+Anushka De Silva when the seconds hand moves in 2 second increments it means the battery is low, my advise is to try to charge it for a few days by placing it on a window sill facing outside. It might be that when you change the tine zone it stresses the battery so it goes into low battery mode but when you exit it has enough charge to tick normally.

VERY HARD TO GET AN AFTER-MARKET STRAP FOR A CITIZEN WATCH THAT IS MADE FOR A BRACELETS. THE FIRST "LINK" IS YU-USUALLY PART OF THE CASE, SO YOU NEED TO CUSTOMAIZE A STRAP BU CUTTING AWATY PART OF THE STRAP ENDS. I NEVER HEARD OR READ THAT THERE ARE "COLOR CODING" RULES. WHO ISSUES THESE RULES? THE ANALOG HANDS COLOR CODING TSAR?
Citizen and most mid to lower $$ Japanese brands come with cheap bracelets. They are far from “forever”. Nicer aftermarket bracelets are only 30-50 bucks.
I was become a fan of this watch until you showed this complicated menu and etc of reset and time zone. I am wondering I should stick to basic watch or completely go to smart watch.
you're probably better off with a smart watch or a basic watch if you can't be bothered to do this. just remember, you only need to do this once, and it practically will run itself until the year 2100 where you will need to manually adjust it again.
When it comes to solar longevity I have more faith in Citizen as I have NEVER had problems with one while I heard of certain Casio models having them so I would advise on Citizen
