You should listen to their cover of “don’t call me angel” Cora (the beat boxer) literally beat boxes while singing at the same time it’s pretty sick, also kaedi is crazy on bass on that song
Lovely reaction to them! From left to right they are: Cora (beatboxer), Nina (soprano), Hannah, (mezzo, who just left the group sadly 😢), Kaylah (alto), and Kaedi (bass). They have a great mix of both acappella covers and non-acappella originals! Please continue to check them out! 💕
Wikipedia entry starts "Citizen Queen is an a cappella girl group consisting of vocalists Kaedi Dalley, Cora Isabel, Nina Nelson, and Kaylah Sharve’. The group was formed in 2018 under the auspices of RCA Records, with mentorship from Pentatonix member Scott Hoying." Hannah Mrozak was also part of the group when this was recorded and released. One of their early videos was a remake of Never Enough ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jBtdRpW9tck.html; starting at 3:27 they introduce the individual members.
Roberta Flack would be proud! First time hearing them; I'll have to check out their other music. Great analysis as always. I assume we'll see more of them here also.
Hi Jennifer, it was hilarious to watch you keep up with all 5 different voices. It almost looked like you was in a stock exchange sell out. Great job... Citizen Queen were great. Love how they were in sync.
Great reaction Jen! If you're interested, Scott from Pentatonix also founded a group called Acapop Kids. Definitely start with their mashup of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and Somebody to Love. I'd be interested to hear your take on kid singers (they're all younger than 16). Although I'll go ahead and give you a heads up that the redheaded beatboxer Nolan died a couple of years ago at just 15. (He died in his sleep and no official cause was ever given). Still, it would be a great next stop as far as a capella groups go.
IMHO the best acappella group out there right now. I think way better than the acappella group that so-say "discovered" them (Pentatonix). Kaedi is just amazing.
Great analysis! You noticed so much. But you didn't tell us the bass notes. How low did she go? You told us the high notes and some in the middle, and you were impressed by the lower notes. I am, too, and want to know what they are. Otherwise, I love that you pointed out so many aspects. Thank you!
oo yes Citizen Queen. Love your reactions Jen! would love if you would check out either The Big Push or Nothing But Thieves! They are two great UK based bands
For reasons which I haven't been able to pinpoint, I am not attracted to female voices usually. I think it is probably to do with the amazingly bad, screechy sopranos encountered in local talent contests in my younger years. Even so, these women are amazing. I am a committed Home Fry and about halfway through I started thinking "I wonder what would happen if you put these ladies in a room with HF?" Just imagine the bass line and the beatboxing! Whoo! Great reaction.
I can't even put in words how different this take on the song as Jessie J's version in the Singer in 2018. (Live singing, live band, pro environment) When she took the risk as a famous singer to participate in that knockout competition against super talented singers like Dimash... well she had to do 115%.. and boy she did, presented Western singers flawlessly: Jessie J《Killing me softly with his song》- 个人精华《歌手2018》第3期 Singer2018【歌手官方频道】 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Kpq6Xu1_rB8.html and for me her mastercall in stage performance and singing: Jessie J《Ain't Nobody》 "Singer 2018" Episode 5【Singer Official Channel】 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vuw2voslDbE.html might someday make it to Jennifer's reaction list. :) As for this performance lovely reaction as always, unique singing! Cheers from Hungary!
Hi there jen, nice reaction. I'm your new subs here. Hope you're doing fine everyday. If you may, please do the "DEN - MOMENTS I HAD" video reaction on your next project. I'm sure you're not gonna be dissapointed. Big thx and Godblessed you, Jen.
I enjoyed the great singing and the, as usual, great reacting and analysis. But what I found myself thinking about is how the vocabulary describing a capella groups is male-centric. That is not an accusation of men trying to exclude women, just an observation. If I had to ascribe a cause, I believe that the "male-centric" descriptions are due to the success of the first, mostly or all male, a capella groups. That seems to me to be, if not accidental or random, the result of something similar, and NOT the result of overt sexism. What's needed is a better vocabulary, nothing more.
I love the signing but for poopsake why the beatboxing.... just get a proper instrument.... yes that's just me, I know... that's why I don't listen to this music 🙂
