Heij, I absolutely love Evaporust. Yes, citric acid is cheaper but Evaporust is near magic. You just dunk Your rusty crap into it but the part needs to be "clean" with no oil or grease on it. Then You dunk it and in just hours (You can watch the stuff work) the rust is completely gone. Just gone. Magic. It creeps between slidy things and into threads between bolts, it is awsome. When You got an ultrasonic cleaner it works even faster, it works best at 25-30C. I don´t talk down at Your method at all, I watched it work. But I recommend the magic soup, it´s water based so evaporated volume can be replaced with destilled water. I mostly do small stuff, I work on bycicles but friends of mine built a thing to put in whole frames at once, it´s a treat. Put in an ugly duck and take out a ready to paint swan. Have a good time, Your method is environment friendly and not so messy, Evaporust can´t go straight into the drain. But for a lazy ass like me it´s perfect. ...Aaand now I´m down the rust away rabbit hole. See You on the other side.

For guards I use molasses same results and it will unseize an engine block

Citric Acid is great I use it as well, all the rust from years of outside in the elements is cleaned off really well, treat with converter and paint I buy in ten kilo buckets called cafetto

What ratio is it mixed with hot water. How many parts water to parts citric acid? And what is the baking Soda but about? Neutralising? Is that also mixed with water? How much?

I use white vinegar Graham, from the supermarket its about 60 cents a litre but im sure in 20 litre drums its a lot cheaper! I did try citric acid but found vinegar is better! Try it, and yes, make sure you neutralise it after!😅

This stuff is the extreme opposite to Sunday School cordial. The cordial is one part orange per billion.

Just did a boot skin and rear window to boot panel and the panel under that in a $30 kids pool worked mint boot skin took a day left the other panels in for 3 no scrubbing required

The acid works well, but have u tried elctrolysis? A packet of Lectric washing powder from the corner shop , a battery charger and a garbage bin with water. And u don't have to neutralise it : )
