Thanks a lot for the video. You saved the day. Friend of mine with C4 visited us yesterday and he told me his car had the issue for the last 3 months and could not use the boot. So i went on RU-vid and spotted your video. Rang the local junkyard and collected the switch today. 1hr later... Problem solved! He is happy i fixed it for him and am happy you uploaded the video. Thank you
Great Video .. I have replaced one recently after watching this video , just one advise , please note there are two types of micro switches , round type and square type , so order correct one after checking which switch you may need ....
Great Video! Had a look at mine and the trim was loose so managed to wiggle the button assembly out and disconnect it all. Took it in the house and the little black ‘joystick’ looking bit had broken and as I pressed it, it snapped/fell out. My button has been dodgy anyway because the plastic resistance arm inside had snapped too. Anyway, left the button assembly off and reconnected the micro switch without the little black joystick part. I used an iPhone sim card removal pin to press into the tiny micro switch hole and it opened the boot!!! Then, I have somehow managed to poke it so that the micro switch thinks it’s constantly in the open position. So, when I unlock the car with the fob…the boot mechanism automatically opens without me having to press or poke anything. I’ve accidentally made my car better! It still shuts and locks like usual. Just got to remember that it opens every time you unlock the car, therefore, the fob wont lock the car unless you pull up the boot and slam it back down. But it’s definitely better than having to poke a SIM card remover into the micro switch in the rain! I might not even bother ordering a new switch and button. It’s like having a posh car now😂
I've got the same problem on my 2008 C4GP so this video was quite helpful. I believe those Torx screws are T20. Most of the interior trim is secured with them. I'll be dong my own video when I come to tackle this job. The trim has been loose for several months which I think could be related to the problem. I'm hoping for a an NPR fix but forewarned is forearmed. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for this. But on mine the switch was working fine, even when in the assembly. I tested with multimeter and it works as expected, yet, the boot won't open. According to the manual there is no fuse for the boot so maybe the whole locking mechanism is broken? Anyone know what it may be?
Isaac Bolton you just need to line up the poppers with the holes and give them a bang with your fist, also make sure you follow the instructions in video in reverse order
How much of a nightmare is it to replace the entire boot lid? Would the boot lock also need replaced for my original remote key being able to open the replacement? Regards, John
I have the same problem with my C3 Picasso. The garage has 'adjusted' it once but it's started doing the same thing again. I've booked it in for Thursday and they mentioned something about changing the hinges. Does this sound right?
so my button works makes a noise tries to move the lock mechanism but the boot is jammed shut i tried a screwdriver in the manual open and nothing feels glued shut.
