I have owned this car for 13 years, it has been amazingly reliable (been changing only bulbs). I am very surprised with your seating position as I am 186 cm and I still have plenty of space to move back my seat. Honestly I think there is something wrong with your seating position. I confirm that the interior quality is great (much better than my almost 45k brand new Cupra Leon Hybrid), has lasted amazingly good 13 years in the very high temperatures in Greece. The automatic gearbox is the worst I have driven ever (especially if you compare it with the brand new 7 DSG I am driving), the fact that it is not creeping means that your car has not had the latest update as Citroen updated the software sometime in 2014 I think. This car saved my live when I was driving at 150 km per hour on a very rainy day and the ESC, ESP intervened and literally saved my life. It is a car that it is not meant to be driven fast definately but i havent seen a better cruiser yet thatn this one. When I bought it I managed 1400 kilometers in one (60 lt) tank. The boot is amazing , I have managed to squeeze in there a whole sofa! Rear axle is paleolithic and very noisy in potholes but does not cause any problems at all. The chassis is amazing sturdy and I think it was the first car in the category with double gazing windows and fully robots laser wielded roof and chassis (there is no seamline on the roof). For Motorway driving it is one of the best cars you can drive for longer ranges and the economy for the 1.6 ehdi car I am driving is enormous. Very quiet car needs some time to heat up this oldie but goodie diesel engine. Amazing equipment for the time it was sold and in Greece as Citroen didnt have a good name at the time it was 30% cheaper that any other competitor and it has lasted much longer and better that any of them! If you find a well maintained one do yourself a favor and go grab one!
I've owned the manual 1.6vti for roughly 5 months now, it's a nice car. Although i would say that the gears are really short on the manual. I can drive comfortably 50kph in 5th gear at like 1.5k rpm and it will hold its ground even at 25kph in 5th gear which is funny. Based on how little gear changing you can get away with you might aswell just get the manual lol
I have a 91Bhp 1.6 DCI. Absolutely amazing reliable car. More than enough grip. No issue with seating position. Very comfy. Not under steered at all. 😂. Very smooth gearbox. Far more reliable engine than my previous cars( vectra C, Ford focus, Insignia, Renault Clio) Only complain is there are no light above the back seats
@@mkondotemwanharawa1308 Yes! It is common with this model of EGS gearbox, i have adapted my driving style to allow for a smoother drive. It is one of the flaws of this car.
Spent an long time trying to figure that out. Turns out it was just a bug in the latest software update of premiere Pro. Sorted now but I didn't have time to redo this video.
I've been a fan of your Conquer Driving channel for some time. I knew you also had a car review channel but have only just found it and shall subscribe. I sold the Nissan Note DIG-S CVT as it was too high a spec for me. I now have a Citroen C1 Flair ETG automatic.
Just found your channel and enjoying your detailed information about the cars you tested. I had a C4 1.6 Hdi auto for 2 years and it never let me down and was as you say very comfortable and did 60 mph on a run. The automated gearbox was not perfect but if you lifted your foot as you did it was ok and even smoother using the paddles.
@@RichardFanders thanks unfortunately it is in French managed to google some, how.about gear box oil, and how long does it take to change it, and what quantity should it be?
this car not for you as you can't seam to drive it i have had three of these gearboxes and if they start to have a bad clutch take up you need to have the gearbox reset and the clutch bit needs to be seset
Well Matt Watson makes so much better reviews 😂 he said that front space is okay but back seats a bit tight 😂 I’m 6 foot tall, went to see one yesterday and had to move the seat closer as I felt too far away from pedals and steering wheel
Thinking of getting one of these next but as I'm 6ft2 would you say definitely not enough room? Maybe the later model's have more legroom. Great review btw Richard 👍
I am 190cm and quite overweight, I think that the c4 is quite comfy, it’s more comfortable and spacious than other cars in my opinion, the auto gear box is rubbish but it gets its job done. Mine is a left hand drive, maybe it’s because of that? I don’t know…
How does it compare to the Peugeot 308 mk1? I have the 308 with the 2.0 hdi engine and its a perfect car for me. Now we need a second car in the family and I am thinking of getting another 308, or go with the C4 mk2(the mk2 308 is out of my price range, otherwise that would be the choice). Anyone had expirience with both the 308 mk1 and the C4 mk2?
My other half has done 12,000 miles in it now. I really don't like it but she still likes it. I would much rather a Golf, Leon or A3 ect as they drive better.
I don't think this child is old enough to have driven and mainly test cars , why do they all want to be the Hammonds And Clarksons of this world . If he had been given a bonus free hotel and food for weekend this would have been the best car in the world. You will not beat a Citroen for good value and without doubt the best engine ever made .just be honest why find fault .
