The top speed of EVs are restricted to optimize the range the battery has to offer. Anything above 107 kmph, it is going to severely bring down the range that the battery has to offer. This is a common practice everywhere unlike the high-end Tesla models where the higher capacity batteries are used. While reviewing EVs, you would need to mention the specification of the battery as well, its chemical composition, etc. of course, the drive in the EVs would be great as its powertrains are simple and robust
Exactly, none of the reviewers are telling the actual buyers that if you go in 110+km/h speed you won’t even get half of the so called claimed range. We can achieve the claimed range only when you are using the pedal like feather and way below 60km/h, which no one want to drive it in as its not a 50cc moped bike!
I cannot comment on the possibility of fire in EVs. It is too early to make any sort of comparison with the fire incidences of IC engines as of now. We shouldn't forget that IC engines are catching fire even in these modern times. It is entirely down to how well battery management system and cooling system has been designed and implemented. The western countries have been fairly successfully in the EVs all these years. There is one famous video shot somewhere in China, of Tesla wading through 4-feet high floodwater. I feel Citoroen and Tata are all too big and reliable manufacturers that one would expect them to have the BMS well sorted out. Let's see.
I think the problem with Citroen is that they work a lot on their suspension and engine tuning however what they are failing to realise is that in the Indian market, features such as electric adjust of orvm’s and decent door handles matter a lot as they should.
I think thier focus is fine, not good as market demand is features but still if you see car is to drive and not watch movies or connect phone devices. Unfortunately others focus more on market and less on drive.
This eC3 is a shitbox. It might eat Tiago EV sales to an extent but i honestly think it can't even touch/dent Nexon ev sales. If I want to go for Nexon EV, i shall go for it. Cheap looking, 2013 features embodied, not so great doing and ready to pack bags Citroen will never be in consideration also
I own Citreon eC3(Top Variant) and along with Petrol Hyundai Grant i10 Asta(O) (Top Variant ) .. Now I had 6000 kms plus drive in my EV .. Had Highway Trip to Bangalore .. Single day 450 KM .. acheived Highway millage of about 250 Km to 280 Km per charge on Eco Mode with full load (5 adult and 3 kids and boot space full of heavy lagguage ) Ac and Music system , chageing of phone on my 8 hours plus Journey . Fast Charge Power delivery nearly 38kw .. quick 40 mins 20 to 90 plus percent reached. Comfort in Top Notch .. Suspension was very premiem and steering control view of road and ease drive is wow.. for me .. I excepted some Cross SUV type of Car over Hatchback for funky look..for second car. I am happy with my choice
Kindly open your eyes on the cheating done with your cells in the battery pack of your EV cars EC3 is not offering the range of 320km** once you charge the car to 100% it only offers a range of 230km and in real use it comes down to 180 to 200 only. Make a note once you charge the EC3 to around 60% it shows the range of 210. rest 40% charge only added to 20km of the range. Its because the cells in the battery pack are missing. This should be taken to court
@@thangavelkannant81 now 52,000 km , Negligible Battery degradation .. 14 months now ... Very easy to drive and control ..5 service completed till now , waiting for 6th service .. Very good for me and family ..
Citron Car design and the mechanicals are OUTSTANDING. Tyres are Very good, Battery is from CATL who is the world leader in EV battery supplying to BMW, VW, Benz, etc.. What missing are fancy items ( Car play infotainment, Electric fordable mirror, Stereo, Sun roof, cruise control, etc). In my opinion, those fancy stuff are not required ( I am not buying car for those fancy items; I rately use items like sun roof..!!!) ; so in my opinion CITRON EV is very good provided if you have Citron service network accessible in your town.
I'm not sure the lack of basic features like rear window power buttons in the rear door or the lack of electric adjustable mirrors can be called as "fancy" features not being available. I would hate to even sit in the car because it screams cost cutting right into my face. I would rather buy a maruti hybrid if I have a smaller budget, even if it means I might die in that tin box.
@@yomamasohot6411 well, if you compare with TATA Tiago 1) it has a spare wheel which is essential 2) it has a wireless android auto and wireless apple car play, which you can effectively use it 3) it has better suspension 4) it has better range 5) It has better bootspace 6) It has better ground clearance and rear window power buttons are accessible to rear seated passenger as well What I am missing over here is 1) pre-cool feature 2) 12 V charger for rear passengers 3) top light for rear passengers 4) rear ac vents Considering all the above, I can ignore it does not have automatic mirrors.
If anyone considering this car, It has air cooled technology to cool the battery which is outdated. These days liquid cooling is the standard. Because of this there maybe quick battery degradation. Better to go with Tata, MG EVs
It is not meant for highway driving, overheating of battery will not happen in city driving conditions but definitely climbing in hilly areas will suck
@@mdanaszaimkhan5105 not meant for highway but can Citroen stop its customer not to ride on highway? This car is full of cost cutting just like the ICE C3. I will call it a missed opportunity.
So no one is going to talk about cheap battery pack just hanging below the car dangerously. Overall tiago ev is much better for both price point and safety.
@@sjb371 Same all over Kenya, and kilowatts per hundred kilometres tends to be cheaper than litres per hundred kilometres here. It's why a lot of the safari tour companies are switching to electric landcruiser conversions.
Trunk = luggage space in the rear of a car Bonnet = lid of the engine bay (either front or rear) Engine bay = wherever the engine sits (either front or rear) FRUNK = luggage space in the front of a car Its not called Frunk if the front end has engine (ICE or EV)!
Haven't tried on highway, also drove in Delhi traffic in last 20 days..though never exhausted complete battery but basis the calculation with AC running 90% journey in city giving range of 200 and if with 50-60 % on AC its giving 245 range

Thanks for the video, hope you did the first drive review of Mahendra xuv400, could you please tell me, which one is best interms of driving dynamics and comfort??
Faisal, why are EVs FWD ⁉️ Especially this car which has MPV ambitious ‼️ Besides the natural advantage of leveraging the added weight of an EV, RWD would free up precious cargo space under the front bonnet ‼️
@@Mafiaboss0088 Dude, I don't understand the analogy but an axle mounted electric motor will not leave a hump on the rear desk like an ICE would (Tata magic iris), it need not be a Tesla motor 😅.

Kudos to Citroën for entering market with such a banger car, damn someone at their research department must be high or something 🤣🤣 Kudos to their guys for entering such a market with such a boomer car 😂
Nice car but can't beat Tata Tiago because tata motors sales service and indian brand no issues for future services Citroen will out from India after some time 🙂
one thing - RELIABILITY Citroen being a global player, i expect those expertise to have the effect on this and TATA is making amazing cars, but the reliability issues are just not acceptable, so many of them, in case of emergency if it goes kaput, who will it feel, tata needs to up the reliability game
@@sumergill1351 don't talk bullshit even French or japan, German didnt matter An effective BTMS is required to maintain EV batteries within upper and lower temperature boundaries. If the batteries get too hot or too cold, their performance can be diminished, and they can experience permanent damage. Designers can choose between a variety of passive and active cooling technologies to manage the thermal environment of EV batteries. In the longer term, higher-performance BTMS will be required to enable the use of XFC technology.
Citroen obviously makes some flagship level cars especially with their unique suspension tech......but that's only in France. In India they're offering cheap quality cars except C5 aircross and there aren't even many service outlets. Just look at the battery pack, they didn't integrate it with the platform just did jugaad with the current C3 which btw is an old C3 cause they're already selling the new one in the international market. I don't think Citroen is going to last in India if they keep doing this.....
They are using LFP batteries They are very stable and good as it doesn't generate heat as it happens with lithium ion so air cooled is more than enough
V should not make lots of charging stations v should have only required number of charging station at remote areas houses should be allowed to b made as pay chargeing center's

Faisal tell me what u think? It wud be a hard earned 10lacs spent if I buy this car. What do u guys think??? Faisal, ur honest opinion pls?
Tiny electric cars make no sense at all with barely any range. At this cost people will be wanting just 1 car for all their needs and this car leaves a lot to be desired. Citroen should consider bringing in the larger Evs here to get some popularity
Devastated by how much Citroen has cheaped out on this car! Could've been a killer vehicle if it weren't for the features,or the lack there of. Now the competition will eventually kill this vehicle. The tiago for sure is going to be a hit and the incoming punch will be an even greater hit, literal hit to the eC3.
Other than Nexon, none of the Tata vehicles are selling well. Literally I have seen more Citroen C3 in Chennai than Punch…Harrier and Tiago combined together and that’s the reality! Except Nexon nothing is working out for them at present because of their amazing after sales service and so many flaws in the product. Safety alone won’t sell the vehicle…so Punch Ev or Tiago ev isn’t gonna kill this unless these guys provide proper product with after sales service!
@@thelionking3321 Are you serious? Look at their sales figures last month. They surpassed Hyundai to become second largest car brand of India. Not just Nexon, even Punch, Altroz, Tiago was sold in huge numbers. Numbers don't lie and biased people should have a look at it.
@@vijayreddy8513 lol what successful, I can count on my fingers the number of C3's I have seen on Pune roads, and I travel ~45km everyday. While I can't even count the number of Nexon ev, punch, tiago I have seen. The number of regular Nexon is even more. If tata launches ev forms of the rest of their lineup then they will eat up the majority of ev market and also the eC3.
Fyi This car has Prismatic Lifep04 battery aircooled. Reps told it also uses AC air to cool the battery along with external air cooling. Poor review by Faisal. When it comes to ev you need to be specific abiut range battery and tech specs. The cells is made by SVOLT company in china. They claimed to make worlds first nickel cobalt free battery. Nickel cobalt not only polutes but also is costly. Say no to Mahindra XUV400 in this case. Poor choice of battery. Some may say Tata has liquid cooled and has 8 years warranty on battery and motor This has onlyy 7 years on battery and 5 years on motor. With extended warrant you can get motor covered by 2 another years..where tata cars extended warranty extends the base warranty So its like 8 vs 7 in citron Plus Tata batteries also carries same compoosition. But they have tried and tested cylondrical cells packed in a boxy shape and kept in back of the car with liquid coolant which can have safety hazard in case of crashes from rear side. As we all know liquid doesnt go well with lithium batteries. On the other hand prismatic cells are costly as of now. As they are pretty new to market . BYD uses these batteries in their cars. As time passes these batteries will become cheaoer than cylindrical shaoed batteries. Also to mention. The prismatic cells is placed below the chasis with large surface area resulting in better cooling when in normal temp like 25 to 35. But if the air that tocuhes the battery is hot. Then expect reduction in performancr. Although citroen tells they tested this cars for over 1 lakh kms in india for 6 months. Real life user reviewers says ..wheb u drive rash like 80 to 100 kmph soeed. Deplete the batteey fast abd you have reached the oercentage around 20. You wanted to charge in realy hot environment. Then the charging soeed will be drastically reduced. It wont charge kike 23 to 25kwh as claimed by citroen Real life reviews shows max it acheived was 17 to 18 kwh through zion charger. Expect 1 hr 20 mins to charge from 10 to 80 percentage. But if you drive at reasonable speeds say 55 to 65 kmph. Your real feel temp is not beyind 45 degrees. You can exprct better speed. Both Tata and Citroen both has their own share of disadvantages. In the long run Prismatic cells will be cheaoer to make abd replace..although if a single cell fails it may affect whole batteey unlike cylindrical cells in tata. But the complexity of assembly in cylindrical is high .although you can reolace bad cells in cylindrical assembles..am not sure what Tata are doing to replacr batteries. Few told they are replacing bad batteries in the pack. But it has to be done very carefully. Its always good to replacr and recycle the old ones..rather replacing bad cells in the pack After comoaring both. Citroen has good susoensuon .but lack of features Tata has given good features. But not that spacious in tiago. Make u tonwiat for tata punch obvuously will be in alpha platform maling the cost of tata punch to be more than nexon prime.would cost min 13 to 14 lakhs for base varaint.. ON other hand BYD has proved Blade prismatic cells with air cooling is far better than liquid cooled cylindrical ones. But i am not sure what type Of prismatic cells SVOLT has made for the ec3. I am eying on ec3 cos of its price abd spaciiius cabin. Waiting for shine ec3 variant with all the leftout features like alloy wheels electric ovrm , rear camera abd telematics and a solid 1 lakh price cut. I am ok wirh 107kmph..as i am not gonna race woth my car. If the shine varaiant costs 13 lakh on road then i gonna buy this. suspension is the best in all the Ev which costs less than 20 lakhs. I am kind of guy who do hyper miling..im amn damn sure i can extract 250 to 260km rangr from this one. With tiago one can easiky get 220 to 230km at constant 60kmph speeds. This can easily fo 250 to 260 with decent speeds.
> car with liquid coolant which can have safety hazard in case of crashes from rear side. As we all know liquid doesnt go well with lithium batteries. Water is not used as the cooling refrigerant in EVs with liquid cooling, it is standard alcohol based coolant (ethylene glycol) alcohols are non conductive compounds since they are organic in nature. Further, the conductivity does not matter anyway because the coolant is closed loop ie it never comes in direct contact with the individual cell. The cell itself has a aluminium covering and the coolant runs in similar copper or aluminium pipe network around the cells. Even in case of collision, it is unlikely that the case of the cells and the cooling lines will break simultaneously -- so in all probability, firstly, there is no way for coolant and the lithium in cell to come in direct contact with each other, and in the unfortunate accidental event when it does, the insulating properties of the coolant won't cause any further escalation like fire or blast
Handful of info. Just wanted to confirm this 1) where do you get the info related to prismatic cell? 2) I do read that there no shine variant for eC3 as rear wheels and rear camera can be added via addons. But automatic ORVM gonna miss. What do you mean by Telematics? I can see Citroen Connect app will display info about the driving, is this you are referring to ? 3) Price cut? Really? I dont think there will be any price cut as this car sales are good. They are doing almost 300 numbers a month and for new brand it is good. Please reply if you have confirmation related to eC3 shine and price cut from official sources.
No liquid cooling for battery, which is 100% essential for a EV car in Indian climate .. All the two - three wheelers have air cooled battery and that ends in 3 years. Citroen also have air cooling Battery warranty 7 years , TIago 8 Motor warranty 5 years, Tiago 8 No adjustable regen braking - which is a must for Indian roads No cruise control - which helps to save battery in highway low power compare to Tiago ================== yes C3 is better than TIago EV !!
