Hello Filip. Sadly it's not possible to permanently disable the Stop-Start system on newer cars of all makes because these have to default to 'on' in order to meet emissions regulations to allow manufacturers to sell cars. Thanks for watching, enjoy your car! It soon became a habit with me; get in, plug in my 'phone for Android Auto, switch off Stop-Start, away you go 🙂
Mine never use to come on, but I selected it one day and didn’t like it so I’ve disengaged it! However now it automatically comes on and I have to manually turn it off! How do I keep it off at all times like before???
Hi Richard. Most cars now switch on their stop-start functions by default every time the vehicle is started. It's necessary to meet ever stricter emissions regulations. Several criteria need to be met for it to work though: 1. The stop/start system is not manually de-activated. 2. The engine is at running temperature. 3. The driver’s door is closed and the driver’s seat belt is fastened. 4. The battery is sufficiently charged and in good condition. 5. The engine coolant temperature is not too high. 6. The engine exhaust temperature is not too high, e.g. after driving with a high engine load. 7. The ambient temperature is not too low. 8. The defrost selection does not inhibit a start/stop (including heated windscreens). 9. The climate control system does not inhibit a start/stop. 10. The brake vacuum is sufficient. 11. The self-cleaning function of the (if diesel) particulate filter is inactive. 12. The vehicle has moved since the last start/stop. So there are many reasons stop-start may not activate! Cheers for now and thanks for watching
Same, I turned it on for fun to test it becouse I have never tried it before and now I need to turn it off everytime i turn the car on 😅😂 I bet there is a way to turn it off for ever again… let me know if you found the way.
Mine not flashing but start stop not working. Its switched on but not working. Citroen trash. Fuel consumption on 1.2 ccm 82 ks is fucking abnormal 8-10 litres!
Just a personal preference really. Waiting for a gap, at a roundabout for instance, you need an instant response to pressing the throttle, even a very short hesitation can be very annoying, as can the constant automatic starting and stopping in heavy traffic caused by the Stop-Start system.
Long story short: because it's ruining your car. And if you live in a hot climate it's also auper-annoying in traffic since it's turning off AC every time the engine stops.
