I’m a 75y/o male with long term cardiovascular issues. I started taking 1000mg L-Citriline after watching Dr Brewer video. It has been 4 years and my latest cardiac tests show that my obstructions have receded. I now have cardiac appts once yearly instead of every 90 days. Dr would NOT aggree with me that the L-Citriline was the cause. Dr Brewer is awesome.
I’m 39 and healthy - thin and very active - but had been noticing a substantial decline in the frequency and quality of erections the last two years. Started taking 3 grams of L-Citruline two weeks ago and am already noticing a massive difference.
Thank you very much. Our detailed science & protocol video just dropped. Check it out!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-riM_3NUMPFE.htmlsi=Vq5_UmoWqxduWzYF
I had heard about citrulline for some time now. About three years ago I was awakening in the mornings with high systolic numbers. Generally in the 150's. I started taking 3 mg of citrulline twice a day, and after only two weeks by pressure was down in the 118 to 125 range consistently. I have been on it now for over 2 years and everything is fine. I work out with weights 3 days a week and it helps with my workout endurance. I do HIIT training and it helps noticeably. Also I am 72 years of age and am able to maintain my strength levels just as when I was much younger. I will continue to take it.
Wow !!!!! Thanks Doc ! Thank you for a wonderful explanation for lay persons......the clot image is devastating ! You got my attention with the "cracked tennis court" analogy. I am a 60 year old certified tennis instructor and once again I realize INFLAMMATION is a KILLER. I am very healthy but never forget to realize how magnificent and delicate of bodies truly are.
Also I would like to ad this there is absolutely a quality issue . I've heard people say all the aminos come from the same company or the same place ,but I've absolutely noticed a quality difference this has to do with how it's broken down or refined ,and where or how it's kept . Temperature is critical with some i would say all of these aminos .
I am 67 yr old male with occasional high blood pressure. I take citrulline 2 to 5 grams early in the morning. Heart rate in the 60's and never had that. It works really well. I will continue.
I am 57 years old and a die-hard cyclist. I took l-citrulline tablets 750 mg and increased it to 1500 mg per day. Wow. I cycled around and did not feel tired at all. I did not feel muscle pain that i usually do. I was not panting for breath anymore. After cycling I felt like I could cycle twice more the distance I did whereas under normal circumstances I would have felt dead tired. So, L-Citrulline improved my physical performance, made my heart feel stronger and also improved my erection. I felt like I was 25 years old! It's just amazing!!!
Yeah, I'm with you there! I'm 62 and an experienced and die-hard cyclist as well. I've been taking 1,000mg of L-Arginine per day for about 10-12 years. At this point it's hard to tell if it makes any difference, but I'm assuming it has and still does. I increased my daily dosage to 2,000mg about 4-5 weeks ago and then about 3 weeks ago I began taking 750mg of L-Citrulline per day in addition to the L-Arginine. In the span of only a few days, I noticed the exact improvements in my cycling performance that you've reported. It's as if your muscles function more effectively and the lactic acid dissipates more efficiently allowing you to sustain high efforts for longer intervals. Off the bike I've noticed that the blood flow to my toes has improved as I have been suffering from some peripheral numbness in my feet for about 7-8 months. I'm not sure if these improvements are solely due to the addition of L-Citrulline or the increased amount of L-Arginine or the combination of taking both. I suspect it's the combination. I am also considering doubling my daily L-Citrulline dose.
I lowered my blood pressure by going vegan. Those leafy greens, specially spinach and arugula work pretty good. It has taken 6 weeks to work, but im willing to take l citrulline .
Dentist here. Great summary Doc, and thank you for repeatedly mentioning periodontal disease, diabetes and atherosclerotic artery disease in the same breath 👍
A couple years ago I decided to do 100K push ups in 1 year. I started using Citrulline as well as other supplements to aid in recovery. Throughout the year, I would sometimes forget to take my supplements for a few days, and I started experimenting with different ones. I was also taking Arginine, Glutamine, creatine, and some other nutropics at times. I was able to make a very clear distinction that when I was taking Citrulline, I was able to do push ups in reps of about 70+. When I forgot to take Citrulline, my reps were closer to 50. I tested numerous times, and the difference was obvious. It would take 2-3 days to see the benefit of Citrulline, and also in the reverse, if I ran out or forgot to take it for a few days, it would take 2-3 days for the effects to wear off. Citrulline became probably my favorite supplement, because the effects on my muscle endurance were very clear.
I recently started taking two grams of l-citrulline twice a day and my blood pressure went from 145 over 95 to 125 over 85. It has never been this low my whole life.
But that's only because the citrulline is working on the high blood pressure,,, it will probably go back to normal when you stop taking the citrulline,,,
I discovered your channel last week and I became subscriber! I hope you are still alive and will continue your wonderful job for as long as you get a healthy life🤩
I have Neutropenia (HCC) , Erythrocytosis, Thrombocytopenia (HCC) and Undifferentiated spondyloarthropathy. I also suffer from chronic fatigue. I have been through all medical tests to reveal the reasons but no diagnosis yet. I have tried Citrulline malate for two weeks now and I started to be very active immediately. I go 6 days a week to the gym now! I used to go two three times a week. So, yes I think it works.
Wow, I have CFS and really appreciate all the positive notes in this comment! I bought it but haven't implemented yet, will add it to daily regimen immediately!!
I’m 72 , I lift weights and am still working as a carpenter. My familia genetics are long lived. I take L-citraline (sp) because I put my trust in the studies and research . I hope they are right. I also take Creatine because of 20+ years of research and studies avowing it’s benefits. Thanks for your research and sharing.
Citrulline and creatine are natural substances already in food. They will help if you have a deficiency. Essentially the same as taking a protein supplement.
After listening to your presentation, I bought L-Citrulline 750mg. It has been about 2/3 weeks now taking 2 doses in the morning and 2 in the evening. I am 72, I have had issue's with bowel movement for years, lots of diarrhea. Since taking L-Citrulline, I have had a a consistent bowel movement with well formed poop. I have also had better and stronger erections.
67 year old healthy male. Out of all of the products that I have tried for restricted urine flow, citrulline had an almost immediate effect. Within 20 minutes of taking it, I would have a piss reminiscent of when I was in my 20's. And one dose a day was all that was needed. Yes, my better half noticed an improvement in me as well. The bulging veins you have in your lower legs in the morning? 10 minutes after citrulline and everything is looking normal. It also helped with inflammation in my joints and my workouts were immediately more intense with that robust good kind of tired I used to have in my younger days. Since then I have amped up my water intake as well and swap out between citrulline and nutrulline, which has similar results although somewhat muted. I have also started taking a multivitamin as well and started counting calories and macros. But citrulline literally 'woke me up.'
@@johnizitchiforalongtime Why are you asking the same question to every comment? Why not just do a Google search on where you can get it? It's simple.
Amazing knowledge Dr. the deeper knowledge of arterial anatomy helps me understand it more. I follow yall that push for better health I feel like the Jesus of nutrition I only hope we can save more people. I will continue to educate myself so that I don't misinform or misinterpret this valuable knowledge that you are giving for free. You guys are angels. I've also read some of Lustigs books and watch Eric Berg. I kinda veered off the path but I think I'm ready to get back to it. Thank you for your time.
what a great video! one of the most informative I've seen on RU-vid. thank you. I've heard from many sources that watermelon is an excellent source of Nitric Oxide. thank you.
I train 5 - 6 days a week weights and some cardio. I take 6gm of Citrulline Malate, 6gm of Argenine ketoglutarate and 3gm of Glutamine Peptides every morning. I have seen a good reduction in blood pressure and increased blood flow (pump) during weight training sessions. I recently stopped taking these during 3 weeks of suffering from Coronavirus. At the latter part of the isolation I started to get Atrial Fibrillation, with my heart racing at about 130bpm then dropping to about 30bpm. I immediately started re taking the above items and within days the condition lessened and is now completely gone. Obviously this is just an anecdote but surely science begins with anecdotes and patterns.
Your channel is awesome! Keep up the good work. I love citruline! Helps for good muscle pumps in the gym! A video on arachidonic acid would be awesome!
I had severe ED and viagra kind of things gave hot flashes, headaches and a unhealthy feeling. I started with Citrulline Malate and within days I felt much better in that departement. 😊
I found it to work quite well when starting a new excersize regimen after an extended period of inactivity, the recovery is noticeable versus without the supplement, in my personal experience, pure form L-Citrulline seems to work the best and quickest towards recovery and mental focus for the following hours after excersize rather consistantly.
Hello doc thank you for your videos.I use citrulline malate as my preworkout substance and there is not a single day for last 8 months that i do not get a pump during workout. Thank you again.
I'm a 50 year old gym rat and former college football player. I started taking L-Citrulline two weeks ago and immediately noticed that my performance in the cardio section of my workout instantly improved. I've also noticed improvements in the bedroom as well (I don't have ED, but I do struggle from time to time). It could very well just be a placebo effect, but I doubt it (any placebo effect, I think, would have worn off by now). In my experience, this stuff works.

I'm 64 and have been training hard core all my life, I have quite a clean and natural diet and have my specific natural supplements I take but have noticed when I use l citruline on my big workout days I feel a difference in my ability to go longer for the burn.
HI Dr. Ford. Thank you so much for your informative videos. I use L-Citrulline in my work outs. It increases strength and athletic performance quite significantly!
I have been taking this since quitting adderall 2.5 months ago and have had both expected and unexpected benefits. I did lots of research and found my optimal dose to be 6g/day, powder form dissolved in water. My energy is now stable and plentiful. My Raynauds attacks are practically non-existent, which I wasn’t expecting (but makes sense given the vasodilation effect) and is remarkable given the freezing winter temps. I am able to do some exercise now without fatiguing in 5 minutes. Great stuff.
I’m a Vietnam veteran and a life long cyclist. My exposure to the exfoliate Agent Orange in Vietnam has caught up with me and affected my blood pressure. The BP med prescribed is Losartan 50mg daily, but the side effect of fatigue has drastically reduced energy and my cycling. I’m going to try this supplement soon and, if it helps, good or bad, I’ll report back with honest results. I’m hoping it helps, and thank you for sharing this information.
I wish you well brother. Wish there was a chat/posting place for this product that we could talk about results. After a couple of weeks of researching this, then seeing this video with all the great results, I am going to order this...good fortunes to you...
That doctor that wrote the book about using Arginine to get NO in your system was jumping the conclusion. He used it in liquid form and injected in the paient. You can't eat enough of the powdered form to get it to work good enough to do what he did. L-Citrulline is a precursor to Arginine and it takes a different path to achieve the goal. That is why it is working for a lot of people. I'll be 74 this month and I mixed it with Creatine and I was really surprised how well it worked the first time out of the box. I had been taking Creatine for several years and that was a real push forward as well. If your dieting you might want to add HMB as well. But I did take the L-Citrulline with Malate 2:1.
I use l-citrulline along with L-Arginine and it helps me a lot it stabilizes my blood pressure my memory has come back I get around a lot better I seem to get sicker a whole lot less and I'm 56 years old so those two in combination have helped me dramatically
Had a huge pump in the gym today. I use L-citrulline malate and I felt super energized today. Felt great. I'm going to order beta alanine to take with it along with creatine.
I've been taking 1,000 mg of L-Arginine 2 times a day. I ran across an article about nitric oxide and ED. I must say that it helps. I have sex everyday usually and I am 71 years old. I've also been taking medical grade fish oil 20 years ( 2 grams 2 × a day). I don't work out in the gym but I walk about a mile and a half a day. I stay away from sugary things like cakes candies and ice cream. My weaknesses Pizza and Cheesesteak Hoagies. I feel happy and grateful.
I hear you I'm Italian 64 and I eat all that stuff as long as you detoxify your liver and you keep your stomach enzymes strong you can eat anything it's just a matter of cleansing your system bone appetite
Thank you so much for covering citrulline! I’ve been taking this for 8 years, before my workouts and I certainly feel more of a pump and focus than when I don’t take it. It’s very evident, though not science but I find these studies are all very mixed anyway and only a handful of studies are clearly backed my the majority (like creating)
I have taken both L-Arginine and L-Citruline, both work for me personally. O just started taking the L-Citruline a few months ago and I have not been disappointed. My pumps are insane during a workout. I'm 58 years old and I enjoy the results of this amino acid. Back in the day I would drink watermelon juice or eat some prior to working out. Watermelon works very well too!
I started taking L citrulline about 90 days ago as a replacement for amlodipine (5mg). I was having several effects from the amlodipine, like feet and ankle swelling, tremors and palpitations. My blood pressure is in the normal range of about 128/72, which is lower than with the prescription. I also take losartan/htzc. I am 73 and walk daily about 2 miles. I take 750 mg on an empty stomach before breakfast. An added benefit is that the supplement helped with erections.
Hey Doc, I''m glad to have found your channel. I haven't tried Citruline yet but I have tried Agmatine and I can defintely say that it works at increaasing performance and Nitric Oxide. Please do AGMATINE

I use a flavored citrulline with regular brewed tea and creatine. I did that for 8 weeks and felt really good over previous exercise with using only water. I weaned myself off the mixture over a week and then started another 8 weeks with just water. I could finish the total body exercise routine but felt whipped. On an occasion I felt okay but not like I did with the supplements. I completed the full 8 weeks even though I didn't want to. I restarted the mixture and on the second day I noticed that I was doing better and perceived that my exercise exertion and results were better. By the end of six days I knew this was the mixture that I'd continue to take and still do. Testimony not science but I feel it works for me and that's all I need.
Okay here's how to eliminate mental and physical fatigue I swear by it I've been doing it for two weeks and it just will flat-out works before you go to sleep at night take a teaspoon of glycine powder taste almost like sugar I've tried putting it in my mouth hole and it'll just dissolve fast it's great for your gum line it gets rid of ginger vitus Now when you take this at night time you will sleep better you will go into a deeper rim sleep wake up more refreshed have more mental focus and so much energy you won't believe the difference because this balance is blood sugar try it One teaspoon what about 6-8 oz of water right before you go to sleep
I use citruline malate for pre-workout for last three years along with coffee l carnitine and Beta analine I get the best pump and stamina while training
Dear Doctor, very informative videos, thank you very much for that. Is it counterproductive to supplement L-arginine malate with varicocele? Because I read in a report that varicocele patients had more NO. Is that right? Can L-citrulline malate even negatively affect the varicocele? Thank you in advance.
I am a tour guide in a Lighthouse - this means I need to talk immediately after climbing stairs. I take a single citrulline capsule and 2 beetroot capsules with breakfast and have no trouble. If I don't take them, it takes a minute or more for my breath to normalise so I can voice the information. I Just read down the comments and read choline is also related to NO, I also take choline in the morning with these as it helps my concentration.
I use citrulline. I'm type 1 diabetic 51yrs. I now take it every 2nd day as I think the body demands more if used daily. I use it for slight ED and vascular health
It increased my work out duration, and made my forearm vains pop out more also my calf’s veains pop more. I can feel it flowing through my vains and heat in the first few weeks.
I've been taking Citrulline Malate 3g twice a week prior to the shutdown of Fitness studios here in Mainz in Germany. I spent two hours, thrice weekly in resistance training. I also take 4g twice weekly of Creatine Monohydrate and 4g of Beta-Alanine after the training studio closed I stopped. The Beta-Alanine makes my skin tingle for half an hour after ingestion. The most notable effect is that they have caused growing disinterest in supplements when not training. Now I'm obsessing about diet. I'm 66 years old. Eating lots of fruit & veggie smoothies with Beets and broccoli sprouts.
81 and in very good condition, except for what seems to be age related endothelial dysfunction. I would get BP at night up to 150 and bad leg cramps and lower leg tingling, I think due to reduced circulation due to vasoconstriction. Normally, I pump iron and walk/jog as a lifelong lifestyle with normal BP. I find that taking a tsp of C malate normalizes the nocturnal problem. I have enough experience with this to say that it definitely works in this case.
Beautiful splendid well explained terrifically said clearly to understanding Hard-worked relentless n to the POINT THANKS BEING EMPATHETICALLY CARING HUMANE BEING …..!!!
I've used Citrulline Malate for a long time and I can definitely say it makes a big difference as far as my althletic performance. Especially when I go cycling. As far as helping with erectile dysfunction, I can't really say I saw much of a difference. But for athletic performance, yes it definitely improves my cardio.
I found that the ED drugs I was using had stopped working most of the time. I wanted more nitric oxide in my system so I started eating about 2 oz of arugula every day. it worked after a day or two, the ED drugs are back working better now than they have in a few years. I am 58. I think arugula is one of the best ways to get nitric oxide into your system and only 4 dollars for a 3 day supply
Citrulline 8-10grams greatly improves my performance. It’s one of the few that you can tell it’s working. If I work out for 1 hr with weights, the last half hr is drastically different. I can perform more total work load. I think that it is its ability to clear ammonia rather than increasing NO.
@@lightbeingpontifex if you want to get rid of lactic acid check out Benotiamine That's a fat soluble B1 this is the answer for pain balances your blood sugar and a highly recommend taking boron like 10 to 40 milligrams with as much as 600 to 1200 mg of B1 fat Benefothimin do the research Believe me it works
Hello doctor....I am new to ur channel....was searching for reports on L arginine and L citrulline... I have one question ....will it Spike the insulin into our system....my glucose levels are good.... please reply
It reduces my fatigue and increases my endurance. Nothing hugely substantial that I can tell but nevertheless, I can tell when I have taken it vs not. I think the trick is to take it well before working out and consistently. I think of it as something that helps my blood flow better and reduces overall "slugishness". Could be a placebo, sure, but I don't think it is.

I take 8g of L-Citrulline Malate (2:1), 2.5g of L-Arginine a-Ketoglutarate (AAKG), 5g Creatine Monohydrate, and 1.2g of Beta Alanine as part of my stack to start my active day. I am a 59yr old vegan.
When you mention nitric oxide and citrulline we need to mention acetylcholine. That is the main neurotransmitter that binds to its receptor on the endothelial wall to start the process of NO production. Taking dietary choline along with citrulline and arginine is like making your own nitric oxide power plants in your body. Choline is mainly found in egg yolks. We need about 500mg per day.choline will combine with acetyl coa which is a product of glycolosis and that combo forms acetylcholine which circulates in the blood and when the endothelial wall is stretched with increased blood flow it signals acetylcholine to bind to the receptor. The nitric oxide is then formed from arginine and the nitric oxide causes the blood vessel to dialate
Hey Doc 👋 can you do a critique of astaxanthin sometime? Ive been taking that for like 15 years, great stuff, its kept me young, 52 and no glasses no grey hair, good knees despite being a heavy duty mechanic for 25 years. 🙏
Thanks for the great info . I had two heart attacks ( myocardial infarction) and have two stents . Im still on medication for bp and cholesterol, not high doses as my numbers are not to bad . Should i be concerned about using a product like this concerning the stents ?
I'm a diabetic and certified personal trainer. L Cit definetly works for me and my clients. Greater pumps and increased cardio conditioning are for real.
very informative, thanks! I use L- Arginine 3000mg as a daily supplement and i find it helps me lower my heart rate on my easy to tempo workouts both on my runs and bike, swim is currently negligible as there isnt an accurate way currently to monitor hr data in water. Also find that it helps with sustained erection quite evidently, however its not viagra or cialis.
82 yo with OAB. Strong urgency problems. Started on citrulline two weeks ago and within two days I noticed less urgency episodes. I think this is the only supplement that I have ever taken that actually worked for me. So far, I’m a believer. Bill Nichols
I had a hip replacement due to a 4 metre fall (smashed my hip) and even 8 months on, I noticed my lower operated leg was different to my non-operated leg, the skin looked dull and lifeless, had a scaly skin appearance and different in color. JUST one week after supplementing with Citrulline Malate (6gr) I cannot believe the difference! The color is back, the scaly appearance has gone and it now looks like my non-operated leg. I lift weights four days a week and I had to double check I was picking up the correct dumbbells because they felt lighter than usual. One other thing I noticed; I use to get mid afternoon slumps, just a tired and flat period; but they have gone since taking CM. Unbelievable stuff!
Doc can you do one on the relationship between sunlight-made vitamin-D and the use of cholesterol in the production of Vitamin-D. Perhaps more sunlight exposure would reduce cholesterol.
Who told you that? Sunlight won't make a lick of difference with cholesterol, and neither will vitamin D. Diet is #1 then exercise. After those supplement like black seed oil, and citrulline will help further reduce LDL and blood pressure.
