Cittadella is a medieval walled city that is home to part of my extended family in the Veneto, Northern Italy. I thought you might enjoy a walk around the historic town centre.

Hey Reginald, nice video and great trip to Italy! One question to you as expert. I recently bought a litespeed Flint frame (with T47) for building up my very-longterm-gravelbike. Which mechanical groupset (single 1x12/13) you would recommend me for a good longterm choice? (GRX820/SRAMx/Ekar/?) Thanks much :)

Thank you. 🙏🏻 Hummm that’s a difficult question. I’d probably go Shimano, it’s relatively inexpensive and reliable, the less you spend on a gravel bike the better if you ask me, they are supposed to get gritty and dirty. Also if you later realise you got the gear ratio wrong it’s less expensive to replace stuff. The only 1X set I’ve ever considered for myself is the SRAM RIVAL 1X11. Again, it’s cheap, well thought out, reliable and gives you the advantage of being able to run a 30mm spindle. That’s a better fit for your BB shell than the shimano 24mm. The gears you choose will depend on the conditions you ride. Do you do a lot of hills? Chunky gravel? Or is it mostly dirt tracks or even roads? On my gravel bike I have a very flexible system, you might think I’m joking but I’m actually very serious when I recommend a Triple chain ring. I have a 11/30 cassette, with that I have a 50T for when I’m on the road, with that I can keep up with the roadies. Next I have a 40T-ish that actually works well on any gravel paths and small hills. Then when things get really bad, I have a 30T. With the 30X30 ratio I have enough to even keep up with MTB riders on MTB tracks and climb steep gravel slopes. But that’s just my personal experience. You will need to ask yourself what you need for your location and activities. All the best and congratulations on the new bike! 👍🏻🙂

@@reginaldscot165 Thanks for your advice already, Reginald. My terrain is the hilly pre-Alpes area and in future (when my fitness increases) I consider also do some Alpes gravel sporadically. But yeah, normal roads are included as well and I also want ride long distances with that bike. You convinced me so far with going for Shimano (despite the spindle disadvantage). Currently here on the market there are several options for the GRX mechanical which have nearly the same price... rx820 1x12 and rx810 1x11. According to your experience with 12s and 11s, which you would go for? Basically as I build a new bike, 12s sounds logical (no matter if I need the extra gear or not) - just the microspline freehub bothers me somehow, but there should be 3rd party cassets from SunRace to avoid it. On the other side many say that 11s is more reliable due to a thicker chain and a not so tight cassette..... What would be your choice? :))
