I been benge watching your videos and can't figure out how you don't have more subs and views. You are very entertaining and eat at so many different locations. New subbie here
A good barbecue joint doesn’t serve their meat with any sauce applied. It should be able to be enjoyed solely as is, smoked with seasoning or rub. I’ve always said that the majority of bbq places serve horribly cooked meats with sauce masking the the garbage you’ve paid for. I wish Old Hickory House in Charlotte was still in business… Hands down one of the best briskets I’ve ever had. And their sides were great also.
@@blankmandastankman Most people don’t know good barbecue from burnt meat. They also like cheap prices. The crappy places always seem to thrive because of this. The quality bbq joints serve a great product, but it’s costly to the business and the customer. Most customers will complain instead of appreciating what’s made
I'm sorry but no meat should be dry to the point you have to sauce on it to taste like something.... supposed to be juicy tender and then when you add BBQ sauce it makes it more exciting
When you said you got your order in 6 minutes I knew they already had it sitting there for a while which I get you can't wait all day for something that takes hours to cook but I figured it'd be dry.
As a Native Texan who moved to Cincinnati, Ohio a few months ago.. I just tried City BBQ last night for the first time and wanted to see someone else’s opinion on it, so I searched on YT I thought it was decent also. Obviously I’ll always be biased towards Texas BBQ, but this wasn’t bad for being in Ohio
as a fellow texan who now lives in NC I will say most places have texas beat on pork and chicken but I have yet to see texas be dethroned as the brisket king of the USA
Oh naw to the flies! A 97 sanitation grade with flies 🤦🏽♀️ I got takeout from the drive thru the day you made this. A colleague raved about the food. Love all but the pork bbq. Sides were really good. Not returning until the flies leave. 😂 How will I know though 😐
i like the even handedness of the review. I'm going to try the one here in Ga, you have definitely been helpful! I will watch more of your videos for sure. i always like the good the bad and the ugly. The flies....eeewwww lol. I'll still try it...
They allow you to pick your sauces. But the ribs are good without any sauce. The chopped chicken is good, o like the vinegar sauce. The veggies are good too.
City is Colorado base. We have several in Chicago land. My friend has won several local BBQ tastes & had City face - face @ a park festival and his trophies stole the crowd. Food is ok but spicy sauce is good. The local location near me is same - ok but a more cleaner. Staff tries.
I make brisket, ribs, chicken etc on a smoker at home. I have no idea how to keep this food moist all day and still be safe for human consumption. I guess that’s the quandary of a barbecue restaurant. At the end of a work day, how do you sell a product that’s not dry as hell and safe? I have no idea. I serve it after resting it, then vacuum seal the leftovers.
Next restaurant you should try there's a open there's a old barbecue joint on highway 55 going into ameant to Apex been there a long time I used to live out that way but your black guys working in there make the best barbecue I've ever had
I have genuinely never had dry pulled pork from city BBQ ever. I’m in Indiana but like my location always has juicy ass pork. The rest of the menu about the same tho can’t lie. Brisket is so dry

When it comes to brisket you can order lean (dry) or fatty (juicy). Great bbq doesn't need sauce. An ounce of sauce covers up a multitude of sins. Anthony Bourdain.
North Carolina can't touch BBQ in Texas. Based on your review, you gave a lot of points for the food being hot, heck that should be a given at any restaurant. The chicken and pulled pork needed BBQ sauce in order to enhance the flavor. In Texas, BBQ sauce is on the table for Northerners and/or aesthetic purposes (it's almost an insult to the Texas Pit Master to put BBQ sauce on the meat). The bottom half of BBQ restaurants in Texas would rate at the top half of NC 'so-called' BBQ joints. Come to Texas where everything is 'bigger and better' especially regarding BBQ. To quote Arby's commercial tagline 'We have the meats'!
I still can't believe they're opening one up on 68 across the street from Country BBQ. IDK whose decision this was, but I'm here to tell you it was a terrible idea. Mark my words, Country BBQ will crush you.
Never liked this place. Way too expensive for shit food. Awesome channel though and I like your vids. 336 all the fuckin way! And yeah same memories at that steak n shake after basketball games growing up late at night! Tokyo Grill right behind this place next to Target is pretty good also. I think it's by far the best hibachi in town (I would imagine there's no way you havent been there already though)
Visited City BBQ University Area Charlotte NC. My food was terrible. Very expensive. Ribs were small and dry, pulled chicken was dry, okra was greasy and toast was burned. Did not enjoy my meal.
