Don’t let this be turned into Cuba. The city shouldn’t punish the many for the actions of the few…. With all the environmental funds they take in they should do their jobs and just enforce the laws that have been on the books for ever and hold the litter bugs accountable… That’s what used to be done when this was a civilized society.
Sad that adults are so dirty! BBQ on the island, leaving Beer bottles, Cigarettes and junk where we all live! Shame on these people for not caring about environment.
Hey buddy you should say something about the trash just laying in the streets here in miami and the city does not clean it up!I have many videos !you wanna see?the islands is just something they (the city)wants for themselves don’t you think?
@@johnsterling1020 I didn't know that, that's horrible as well if that is the case. They need to hire more for street sweeping and more cleaning crews. Us as people need to respect where we live too its sad that people are just careless and dirty.
It's the same with street trash. I have never figured out why people throw stuff out the window and then pay people to go clean it up for them. An unending cycle of wastefulness!
They are inconsiderable period. That tells you a lot about who they are, by the way I am a boater myself, never ever leave trash or dispose in the water.
Juan, I am Cuban, but my parents did not raise pigs these Hialeah rafters destroy everything they touch. They’re doing the same thing in the Florida Keys. It’s embarrassing their attitudes and disregard for other people.
@@OmarLopez-yh2lx yup I live in Miami and I see trash everywhere, and Cubans drive like psychopaths. I prefer them over the Venezuelans any day though !!
@OmarLopez-yh2lx Yes, they come to the Keys and leave their garbage. I've seen construction workers throw trash on the ground standing 6 feet from a dumpster.I just can't understand it!
Sarcasm, fwc should have enforced the the people trashing the place instead of hassling young families in rental boats. And even more importantly the locals should have enforced the Aholes trashing there islands
The truth the very cops and officials who's jobs are to enforce existing littering laws which they haven't done now its easier to push the blame on the public and just restrict even more acces to public land why isn't ball harbor all trashed ohh because they will ticket you to death around there
just to be clear yes its true in florida are animals but the majority of these problems are from dirty tourists That come down to Florida and treat it like a hotel. Trash the place and then leave
As a boter for over 45 years I completly support this descion. There is nothing worst than having the people that enjoy our waters the most be the sole responsibles for trashing our islands and bay. I rather this type of meausre than seeing so many irresponsible people that don't appreciate how lucky we are to have our natural resources. Hopefully this will raise awareness and consciousness, specially for the boat owners and captains who are ultimately responsible for the safety and behavior of their guests. My personal view when being on the water is to leave with more trash than what I come with. I carry extra trash bags to take all trash that I find even if it is not my own and I teach my kids the same. That is the legacy I strife to leave behind.
Exactly what I do in my area. I have garbage bags on the boat and I ALWAYS leave the ramp with much more garbage than I generated. I even have a special net with an extra long handle to fish stuff out of the water.
Very commendable you guys scoring those brownie society points by picking up more trash then you generate. The box of cookies is on the way. Here's a crazy idea how about enforce the f--king littering laws and that way they don't have to shut down something that is funded with my tax dollar. Just a thought geniuses
Open it up, put covert cameras and undercovers out there. When littering occurs, use the registration and fine the owner $1,000. If not paid confiscate the boat. Post signs of the fine and who will be fined so it’s nice and legal like of course.
It's amazing how many people are so ignorant that they are on here advocating for more rules and government control of the spoil islands when we already have littering laws just have cops do their jobs and enforce those laws
@@stevenmeadows6917Yeah….they really should be because basically these days people suck. Remember three weeks ago the boys dumping trash out of trash cans into the ocean? If they hadn’t dumped it in the ocean they would have left it all where they were partying. Yeah, people suck nowadays and cannot be depended on to do the right thing.
GOOD FOR MIAMI!!! FWC needs to be out there writing tickets to those who try to trespass. Lock them up!! It's about time the dirty part of Florida gets tough......
Perfect, Shut it all down. People are pigs in that area. Boating 3 times a week on the SW Florida, very rare is there anything to pick up on the water.
Selfish people, the worst of the worst are South Florida boaters, Help you dock? Forget it...Get to close to their boat..omg, big problems. Hope this is enforced forever
It never ceases to amaze me how a small group of boaters ruin it for everyone, rather than being responsible boaters and adults. There, I fixed your post for you. Learn some personal responsibility Peter Pan
@@doggonenomads I agree, there should be FWC and Marine Patrol on the islands citing the offenders. It would generate a revenue stream and it would definitely teach the litterbugs and all the onlookers a lesson.
The video shows the garbage cans that the City / County has had on those islands for years. They collected the garbage every Monday. That told the boaters that there is garbage pickup service on the islands, so many left their garbage bags there. But what about the responsible boaters that don't litter? Why is it OK to ban them from the islands? Why was there no public meeting or public hearing before closing the islands to everyone? Why is it possible for the police to enforce an island closure, but not inform and enforce the new "leave no trace" policy? It's very easy to take away a personal freedom, as long as it's someone else's personal freedom.
I applaud the city of Miami for shutting this down. It’s way overdue. The people that visit and trash those islands have no business going there. Hopefully this shutdown is permanent.
Keep applauding the government exercising more control over you we have littering laws enforce them but the government ain't nobody to restrict access to something that's paid with my tax dollars period
@@rickdiaz4559 hey Rick, how are you doing? The raft is fine. I’m having a new gel coat put on it and by the way that somebody help you type this in English you might need them to help you read this in English.
Paradise lost because of slobs. In the 60's and 70's we carried out our own trash. What's so hard about be a responsible adult and protecting what God gave us?
As much as I worked against the bottle bill in Michigan, it has helped with littering. If the abandoned deposits could be credited to retailers who exchange the bottles that would be an improvement. People trash our lakes too, but there is always lots of pier pressure! (Get it, Pier Pressure?)
Congrats L Aguirre! You have been instrumental in in making a difference. This situation has gotten progressively worse. I've been a boater for many years. Back in 90's we used to go to a cove close to Fisher Island. We finally took action and would bring trash bags once a month and pick up trash others left. We would leave with 2 or 3 full bags per boat. I rather the islands remain close than seeing how poorly other boaters trash our treasure. Bravo!!!
Imagine if this was done countrywide 😢 people are such pigs compared to years gone by 😢😢😢 How about enforcing litter laws, it would be a great way to collect millions of dollars annually, thus allowing us who respect nature to enjoy nature.
Gotta get rid of all the charter boats coming out of the Miami river. They don’t show no respect to the environment with their trash and the balloons hanging off the vessels.
Yup, as a south Flo resident Gr8 move! I have a sister that visits & I can follow her around the house with her trash trail, peeps just are not responsible for their actions.
Was walking around Virginia key by the old Flipper set. Several people on the tiny little beach were leaving by boat. They left every single piece of trash. Beer boxes, hotdog packaging, and left the little fire going. Then a boat pulls up and throws 2 garbage bags of trash off the front onto the beach. Right in front of us. Don't know where they were from. Speaking Spanish.
It’s so about time. People are horrible to these islands. Tons of trash. I’ve paddled boarded to them and had to leave because it was so heartbreaking to see trash everywhere
Not defending the people who trash the islands, but they always do the same thing right before the property is sold to developers. It raises the sale value of the property.
I live in Baltimore County, Maryland and have a condo in Miami Beach @ 55th and Collins. On one side is a gorgeous beach, on the other side is Biscayne Bay. The beach now has greater public access which is good. But, (BIG but) litter / trash on the beach has become really bad. I kayak around the Bay side and even THAT has become trashy. Sad. Happy that the islands are now closed to drunken boaters!!!
This boaters in Miami not boaters in general. We have an island in Pensacola that boaters go to every weekend. There is not so much as a buble gum wrapper. There is no police presence. The law is for the lawless.
@@OmarLopez-yh2lx I am not in Miami, actually Minnesota. My point is that if you provide garbage cans people get trained to leave garbage next to them when full. The islands we have do not have garbage cans and nearly everyone is responsible and packs out what they bring in.
@@rack9458 Different class of people up in Minnesota too. The people down here are entitled, foolish pr*cks that don't care. So glad to hear there is another place in this country where people are still courteous of their surroundings. Not down here though. Which is why Florida is becoming less and less desirable of a place. The people inhabiting it are ruining it.
This is fantastic. They need to close the Keys from these MiaUbans that come down and act like they deserve to do whatever they want anywhere they want!
I thought they should charge everybody $500 that would Shirley pay for cleanup I can't believe how some of them live like such pigs do you ever wonder what their home looks like
@@patrickwhelan5703 I think they should put a lot of cameras up hiding I think they should charge $1,000 a vehicle you leave garbage no refund I can't believe what pigs some of those people are I've always told my kids you do not throw garbage out the window you put it in the bag and we'll throw it in the garbage can whenever we went in the boat and went fishing the only thing that went in the water was a bobber and a minnow
They should close all spoil islands in Biscayne Bay to boaters especially sandspur island (beer can island) west of the Haulover sandbar , the one's they don't close will see triple the garbage left by garbage from south of the border.
How about actually enforce the law and give tickes? The bay has fwc and each city has several boats in the water. I boat every week, unfortunately if there's no consequences ppl will not do the right thing and pack their trash with them.
Lots of people that have absolutely no stake in America. These people just do not care and have no manners! This isn't just Miami, it is all over America!
I don’t think they should shut down as the video shows the trash was in there bin most of the trash was not pick by county maintenance I guess they trying save few dollars
Im sad that responsible people will not be able to enjoy it, but it had to be done, people are out of control they need to learn we need to take care of the environment
Most of the trash is from tourist. Plus the city should empty the trash bin more often. But it's easier for politicians and media to blame the residents.
The trash is 99% from the locals that are pigs and if the trash bins are full, you should always bring a plastic bag in your boat and pick up your own garbage and take it with you when you leave get a grip man
