A federal jury has ruled that the city of Seattle and police officers have to pay four graffiti protesters $680,000.
The jury determined police violated the protesters’ rights by arresting them at a demonstration during the pandemic following the murder of George Floyd.
Four people sued the city of Seattle for their 2021 arrests for writing "peaceful protest" and anti-police messaging in sidewalk chalk during a demonstration outside the Seattle police east precinct.

@@lorietaylor4665 You are missing the point, which is, it's not a crime to write on a sidewalk with chalk and if you want people to be arrested when they haven't committed a crime, you are not realizing the danger in that. I agree that destruction, fires, etc. are a crime and people should be arrested for that, that is not about free speech, I'm sure we both agree on that. But we don't want police and our justice system to go rogue.

Whether or not it's your property or not it's the people going against the government which is usually what the Republican party calls for constantly. But no, I wouldn't be mad if people wrote something on chalk on my house, if it was cute or fun I'd leave it up, if it was hateful I'd just pull out the hose.
