@Cyndi Rothrock Yep, but you gotta love this guy, he tells it like it is in spite of being ordered by some higher up to do it. My solution? Stay at your desk and play card games while the real workers (like this guy) do it all.

December 8: 6:00 PM. 2006 It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love the snow December 9: 2006 We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a lovelier place in the Whole World? Moving here was the best idea I’ve ever had. I shoveled for the first time in years, felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snowplow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life. December 12: 2006 The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment. My neighbor tells me not to worry; we’ll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we’ll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I’ll never want to see snow again. I don’t think that’s possible. Bob is such a nice man, I’m glad he’s our neighbor. December 14: 2006 Snow, lovely snow! 8″ last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didn’t realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I’ll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldn’t huff and puff so. December 15: 2006 20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a I bought snow tires for the wife’s car and two extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that’s silly. We aren’t in Alaska, after all .December 16: 2006 Ice storm this morning. Fell on my ass on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The wife laughed for an hour, which I think was very cruel December 17: 2006 Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for five hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I should’ve bought a wood stove, but won’t admit it to her. God I hate it when she’s right. I can’t believe I’m freezing to death in my own living room .December 20: 2006 Electricity’s back on, but had another 14″ of the damn stuff last night. More shoveling. Took all day. Goddamn snowplow came by twice. Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they’re too busy playing hockey. I think they’re lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower, and they’re out. Might have another shipment in March. I think they’re lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he’s lying. December 22: 2006 Bob was right about a white Christmas, because 13 inches of the white shit fell today, and it’s so cold it probably won’t melt ’til August. Took me to get all dressed up to go out to shovel, and then I had to piss. By the time I got undressed, pissed and dressed again, I was too tired to shovel! Tried to hire Bob, who has a plow on his truck, for the rest of the winter; but he says he’s too busy. I think the asshole is lying. December 23: 2006 Only 2″ of snow today, and it warmed up to “0”. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What, is she nuts!!! Why didn’t she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did, but I think she’s lying. December 24: 2006 6″. Snow packed so hard by snowplow, I broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the son-of-a-bitch who drives that snowplow, I’ll drag him through the snow by his balls and beat him to death with my broken shovel. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at a an hour and throws snow all over everywhere I’ve just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was too busy watching for the Goddamn snowplow. December 25: 2006 Merry fucken Christmas. 20 inches of that shit tonight. Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God, I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think she’s a fricking idiot. If I have to watch “It’s a Wonderful Life” one more time, I’m going to stuff her into the microwave. December 26: 2006 Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. She’s really getting on my nerves. December 27: 2006 Temperature dropped to -30, and the pipes froze. Plumber came after of waiting 14 hours for him; he only charged me $1,400 to replace all my pipes .December 28: 2006 Warmed up to above -50. Still snowed in. The BITCH is driving me crazy!!!!! December 29: 2006 10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cave in. That’s the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?December 30: 2006 Roof caved in. I beat up the snow plow driver. He is now suing me for a million dollars; not for only the beating I gave him, but also for trying to shove the broken snow shovel up his ass. The wife went home to her mother. 9″ predicted. December 31: 2006 I set fire to what’s left of the house. No more shoveling. January 8: 2007 Feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

It got worse and worse lol kinda how I feel her in Canada. The weatherman warns us of snow coming and nothing happens then it snows 2 feet worth the next day only off by a day weatherman. Snow so deep my car not visible takes 20 minutes to uncover it. Then the bitch dosnt start so gotta dig out the jumper pack that’s back in the house. Find the dam thing get the car running but now it’s almost impossible to drive cause the snow plows do not touch the street at all it’s not a main road not important. Takes me 30 minutes longer then usual to drive anywhere with these roads snow so deep if you stop you get stuck. Thanks city this is why we pay taxes for you too do nothing.

I don't know where you live but when graders plow my rd they are traveling roughly 15 miles per hour. With their 12 tall V blades that is fast enough that it pushes at times wet salty snow 15 - 25 feet into my drive and up to 5 feet deep. Once it has a chance to freeze in about 20 minutes it's almost impossible to move except with my tractor and its snow blower. I am 72 years old and not able to always start my tractor let alone drive it because of my legs and feet being so bad. I have a spinal injury that has taken the feeling from my legs and feet so I can't hardly walk or push pedals on my tractor any longer. So don't call everyone lazy I have been doing this this before you were wet behind your ears.

Would people be willing to pay extra to have the city clear the end of your driveway? They make trucks with a collection that melts the snow and then they dump the melted snow down the sewer. So instead of plowing to the side it gets plowed in the middle then another system comes by and picks up the snow.

What happened to the old way? They used to plow everything into the centers of the roads. Then, when they had the time, they'd come along and truck it away. You know, actual snow 'removal'. Never had blocked driveways. But now, at least where i live, they don't even go out until AFTER the storm has passed. So that they can save money, by only doing it once. But, what this does, is by then, all the traffic has packed it down, and now there's 5 inches of solid snow-packed ice on the roads.

If the homes are really close. There is nothing you can do. But if there is a large gap between driveways. Rotate the blade to cut from the driveway side. Then rotate it back to dump the extra snow. After decades of clearing everyone else's snow. Only to return home from a 12 hr shift and be plowed in myself (with plow packed snow) I empathize. Another thing I would do is shift the blade over to just leave the driveway alone. At least it won't have hard packed snow in front of it.
@ilikerealflight
@ilikerealflight 6 лет назад
I fail to see how you would get snow infront of driveways anyways. In my community (outside of Edmonton) they plow all the snow to the middle of the street, then use a large snowblower contraption to blow all the snow into a semi trailer. Leaving very minimal snow left on the street, and no giant pile infront of driveways

My neighbor works for a town municipality and complains when he has to work over time. But he gets paid extra to do so. I'm not being ignorant I'm a DOT plow operator and we have as much fun with that game as you guys do anyone that's puts snow on my road gets it back. I love my job and take pride in making the roads I look after as safe as I can for the public and my family that travel on it. I will help anyone who tries to keep snow out of there driveway. A good way to keep snow out of your driveway is to clear a spot out on the left hand side of your driveway to make a place for the snow to go and your driveway will stay clear or keep putting it on the road and the operator will fill you full every chance they get stay safe out there.
@robward155
@robward155 3 года назад
But sometimes it is just lazy plow operators. I would get my driveway plowed shut when I was the only resident on my side of the street. Other side had no driveways or pavements and no parked cars. Could easily turn plow other way and eliminate plowing my driveway shut every time it snowed enough to warrant plowing. Complained to township and asked if they could talk or train their operators to avoid plowing driveways shut if they could. Obviously, if driveways and parking on both sides, this is not possible, but in my situation, easy to do. When snowed heavy, it was common to plow 3’ of snow blocking my driveway. Could not drive over even with my 4WD pickup, and heaven forbid I didn’t get out and shovel that mess to clear my driveway before it froze and closed it till spring thaw.
