The city is threatening to remove orange tents that have been donated by a business owner to Chicago's unhoused population. FULL STORY: abc7.ws/3Nasww4
better looking than those tents you see everywhere else. If you aren't going to spend money to help homelessness then might as well let this guy do this
They are spending money to help the homeless just like they said in the story. Only the city is spending money to move them into housing, not on helping them to continue to live on the street. The problem is that too many of the homeless would prefer to live in these tents on the street, instead of dealing with the responsibility of maintaining a home.
@@jlv3x the city is really quick to use money to pay off victims of police brutality from the same budget that should be helping the community. This is how the police unions deplete the budgets of whole communities, by stealing money from the citizens.
“I don’t know if it’s promoting living in the streets.” 🤦♀️ yes Ma’am. Some tents on a hard concrete sidewalk is promoting homelessness. Because what else would otherwise housed people want other than to live in a tent. That’s the dream. So appealing. I’m sure the folks in the tents are thinking “if only I could stay here in this luxurious tent forever.”
That was an actually clean looking area compared to some of the homeless places I've seen. Disgusting how the city's treating them I bet you there's not even a wooded area for the pitch their tents at that isn't considered private. And people who have just an innate hatred for homeless people not all homeless people are there because they want to be homeless some of them have fallen on really bad times.

@@tobybeasley2079 I know what it's like to fall on hard times and to live out of a handmade shelter because it's safer than some of those in City shelters. -which by the way are super unsafe- -so many bad things happen there that aren't reported-
@@justdrive5327 yes but are they close enough to civilization for them to be able to reasonably get to a store and back to their campsite on foot? Not to mention I don't know that particular area all that well but the area that they're in looks like it's a city area and humans are creatures of habits so they end up staying around places that familiar with which probably doesn't have any wooded areas. (And before you say slap them all together just no. There's some real crazy people out there that are intense because they have no family or because their family can't handle them and they can't hold a solitary job because they're insane you'd be putting people's lives in danger)
Wow, bless this man for his actions. Also, why did it take a single business man to do something productive for the homeless? What good is government? Smh
A lot of times I go pass these homeless people and wish I was rich and could just help get these people off the streets and help they life. Meanwhile the self rich folks of downtown just go pass them everyday without a care in the world.
@@las9582 Some people just need a vacation because these jobs for minimum wage do not give vacations or sick leave. These people have the right to see the world and enjoy its beauty too and take some time off work if they need it. In these jobs taking time off work means going homeless because they do not give money for savings. You do not need to see Dave Ramsey if you have a minimum wage paying job.
This man is a blessing. Imagine not having proper shelter in a Chicago winter.. Support this man and his efforts. The people run the government, not the other way around folks.
The people absolutely do not run the government. We were intended to run it, but then ended long ago, due to the lack of inclusivity created by those who renamed bribery
How somehow this wonderful reporter failed to mention everything about this man the name of the tents where to buy the tents how to send this person a million dollars so he could buy more tents absolutely nothing whatsoever
No one wants to see people who are old and crippled not able to feed or fend for themselves that’s heart breaking. But these are not old and cripple people…these are lazy drug users…they have two arms and two legs and speak English. Stop with the excuses. Illegal immigrants come to this country daily….they are not out on the streets asking for food and handouts…they find a job and survive..some even send money back home for their family and they still not on the streets in this country. There is no reason if you have two arms and two legs that anyone should have to do anything for you..get a job and stop being a bum.
@@P2Feener305 That's true but some people I seen aren't able to work and those are the people I would help. I have seen the druggies and I will not contribute to that but I will still try to feed them rather than give them drug money.
Pain of others is living in a country where there is no food and no work. Having two arms and two legs and speaking the language of the land it’s not pain it’s laziness and years of grooming to not worry or work..other that work will provide for you…smh
It’s not simple…but it’s also not impossible. Again, if you have two arms and two legs AND you speak English. There is no reason you should be a bum. Unless you’re lazy and a drug user….which is what most of these people are.
@@P2Feener305 You can have 2 Arms & 2 Legs and speak 180 Languages if Mental health issues plaque your Mind none of the former matters if the engine is shot. Again like you, if it was that easy.
Soooooo, we only have enough resources to help immigrants that come to our city who need food/shelter/medical, but not those who actually live here, without resources 😳😢

We have literally abandoned churches all over this city. We have dozens of programs and every single neighborhood for the homeless. I have zero sympathy for them
Where do you expect these people to go? You tell them to move they’re just going to pitch their tent somewhere else .what are the solutions for these people? These tents look clean well organized and in better condition than all the tent cities that I’ve seen.

Those tents look great but should be organized in parklike areas....other cities should adopt similar strategies.....give these tentpeople a sense of pride and community and keep area clean and crime free.
That’s the cleanest homeless area I’ve seen. I can understand complaining about the shat hole ones but these people aren’t in anyones way it’s under a bridge. I saw a dude today who built a very nice house with flowers out front and the news reporter called the cops on him and ratted on dude. Then they interviewed him. Now he has to move by tmrw. He’s not blocking the street and the ordnance says he just can’t do that on a business street which he isn’t. No one around gives a 💩 either. Dude did a really great job too it’s actually a nice aesthetic place and very clean.
Why is the City picking on the poorest people out there? Jeez, Chicago is a ridiculously expensive place to live. If the City won't help, then let this guy do his thing.
I’m fenced. However, I think the homeless should pack up their tent homes before they are discarded. At least they can always pitch it somewhere else..
@@LoveandContentment do you have critical thinking skills? If so, apply them. If not-don’t ask me nothing bc I don’t explain myself, especially to strangers. Girl BYE!
@@loveyuyu6208 u can't explain because what you said makes no sense. Wherever they go there's going to be a problem. We are entering rain and soon to be snow season. There are little places they can go for coverage.
So let me get this straight. They're sending migrants to $100/night hotels in the suburbs, but telling homeless Americans they can't live in tents? Incredible. Disgusting behavior.
Remove the tents but the people will be out there cold. This is cruel it’s clean out there leave the people alone. It should be a switch up with the immigrants they should be in tents in homeless should be in hotel because they are citizens and immigrants should went to tents. This is sad. I sincerely and deeply hope God tremendously bless the man who provided those tents to the homeless. I mean that with all my heart. He deserves everything good ever coming to him. Karma and God is going to treat him exceedingly well
Karma is a Hindu demonic teaching, but God will bless him. U right on that. Whether u do good or bad, it makes no difference bad can and will still happen to u. Vice versa for good too. Look at the people who rule the world, wicked pedophiles but they are blessed with riches. Their punishment waits for them on the other side.
Damn that's actually a huge improvement it actually looks 100% better then individual tents and they want to remove it because it looks great I'm actually confused
Every time someone comes up with housing for the homeless the city of chicago wants to tear it down, they had a small house that could sleep two in bunk beds thats it no more room with heat, what happened the city dismantle them all, anything to help the homeless chicago ain't having it!
Well think about it. You pay to live and you pay to die. You never have freedom in a sense even in today's society where prices rocket sky high meanwhile still recovering from "COVID" so why should anyone have to pay to live and pay to die?
Greetings Everyone Blessed morning thank you for helping and blessing the homeless. 🙏Maybe he should buy a building for the homeless so they can have shelter. Enjoy your weekend everyone.
Every city is going to have to make a legal place for homeless to camp, and then enforce illegal camping ordinances elsewhere. These sanctioned areas need on site supervision, services, waste removal, restrooms, and intervention with those unable to make informed decisions to behave safely.
How do you evicted the homeless off the streets. If better and clean shelters, and emergency housing wereprovided the tents wouldn't be there. Smh leave them alone.
This guy is AMAZING. And if anyone thinks that there are enough homeless shelters for all the homeless there, they are on crack. This man is using money out of his own pocket to do a service to the community. Mostly the homeless, but to the entire community as well. Just look at what he set up. I've seen homeless encampments, but none of them looking like this. Of course the city, and the mayor, and the city council, will probably try to shut him down. Which just goes to show what kind of people they are in their hearts, and that they in fact don't care about the homeless population. I hope one of their relatives never become homeless due to any circumstance. Because if they can't get into a shelter, they won't even have a warm tent to go into, will they? And believe me, no one is untouchable when it comes to drugs, or other unplanned hardships. This man has decency. Something a lot of the comments here don't reflect.
Only thing I want to correct in your statement is that. it doesn't just show how much they care for homeless, it shows how much they would care about people in general
So I guess that does not include you since you are a woman women don't have rights in the Bible oh well sucks to be a woman I guess what I don't understand is why you are advocating for men if you're not allowed to have the same rights according to your religion not according to the law but according to your religion
What's sad is that this should not even have to be. Why can they not open out the vacant schools for the homeless like they did for the undocumented immigrants. I'm not saying do not help them. I'm saying that if we have resources for that, why can we not do it for our own people? Please enlighten me.
They wont go, what you are describing is exactly what the city shelters offer. Half the shelters here in CA lay empty because you cant get high there so people would rather stay in tents. You gotta stop thinking of the homeless as rational decision makers, vast majority have mental health issues or/and are addicts. And legally you cant force them into shelters
So showing up for the homeless with compassion to keep them warm is somehow promoting homelessness 🤦🏾♀️.. how does that make sense.. people lack of humanity is getting out of control
The city of Chicago should just leave everybody alone. these tents look better and actually work. getting rid of tents won't solve anything but just create more problems.
Chicago says "We have Programs." Yeah programs that have been proven to NOT work in a meaningful way, and are laden with unnecessary or cumbersome conditions. If people REALLY wanted to solve the homeless problem, they'd send out UBI, that way people could get themselves off the street. But since you don't wanna do that, the next best thing is to make Campgrounds with Public Transport, so people can get a foundation under them. You'll find, that once you stop treating people as "Hopeless", they'll stop seeing themselves that way, and actually start moving forward.
Most homeless need rehab. It's a sad situation but it is what it is. The situation won't fix itself it will only get worse. All the money being wasted on tents and throwing away tents and bs should be spent on rehab programs that work.
Imagine spending 35 million dollars to help 1800 people. Democrats are real good at wasting money with questionable outcomes. I've seen how these programs spend their money. Better oversight is needed. More accountability is needed as well. Our governments answer? Send more money to Ukraine. 😳
"It's promoting living on the streets" is the most privileged white person thing to say about this and is telling why the 🇺🇸 has a homeless problem amongst so many others 🙄
The city wants to clean the area, and are telling these people to move the tents during cleaning and they can return after cleaning, read the full story link above, here is the quote, "Full Statement from the City of Chicago These notices are to relay to owners of the property that there will be a cleaning on the noted date. It is important to note that no resident is being relocated as part of this project. Once our partners at the Department of Streets and Sanitation (DSS) conduct the maintenance and cleaning necessary for this location, individuals can return to their location with their property. These notices are posted at least 7 days in advance, and DFSS engages with residents at encampments in the days leading up to cleanings to connect individuals with shelter, housing, and other services."
Right connect them to various places that have little to no shelter, don't have enough money to keep them running properly etc etc. Look alot of you have a good heart and I see that although you are definitely naive af to think that your local shelter has anything to offer besides (sorry we're full because we do lotteries). I tell you from experience, there is little to no help for those who seem to have lost it all including their minds. I lost myself let myself become homeless because I had nothing. I unlike many who may not be able to pulled myself up and out of that mess. Again NOT MANY HAVE THAT STRENGTH and having people that are too naive or not helpful at all doesn't help at all.
@@AhJodie I'm just tired of hearing how there's always something out there. Which sometimes there is though they are limited in what they offer for help not to mention there's still those who abuse the system homeless and the workers.
Chicago is the most selfish and money hungry cities there is. These people who want to take these tents need to feel what it's like for their families to be in the street with nothing. This city has no empty for anything but the almighty dollar bill. I wouldn't vote for the this mayor as the next dog catcher. Anybody has to be better than her as she and her current officials live in the lap of luxury, compared to these people. You warm every night, you can bathe and have regular meals. You want to take the only home They have, but you don't come with a solution. Only destruction. You all, including the mayor and her family, need a good comeuppance. They've forgotten, that by the grace of God, you could be walking in their shoes.
How many of these homeless people have "hit hard times"? I bet you slim to none. The majority have mental health problems and addictions. Tons of homeless people don't want to get back into an apartment/work because they feel a sense of community with other homeless. One moment they're in section 8 housing, and the next they're back on the streets.
In Chicago in particularly, a large percentage of the homeless people ended up homeless after hearing one of their family members or someone close to them get shot and killed, with an example because a father who gave up on paying rent after his son got shot and killed and was unable to handle the mental trauma afterwards.
The city gave me an apartment a year ago. The entire building was infested with bed bugs and roaches. I d wake up with bed bugs in my panties. The roaches would crawl in my fridge. I called 311, the Alderman, and Lawyers Committee for Better Housing. No one helped me. I ended up homeless again.
@Marie Campbell While I have sympathy for you and your situation- you still had a lock on your door and a roof over your head. If you took a shower, went to goodwill and found some decent fitting clothes and found a job I bet you could've eventually afforded a cheap better apartment. It would have sucked and have been miserable but at least you had a place to go back to if you needed to, at the minimum to shower and keep up with your appearance while you worked
I’m like the more you do the more they take , turn you’ll see them in your front yard. I’m not a bad guy but enough is enough, if you want the he’ll give to the place that’s help. It’s out of control
EVERYONE THAT WISHES THEY COULD HELP that is pissed about this would take ONE MOMENT TO EMAIL CALL TWEET OR POST ON FACEBOOK TO THE CITY OF CHICAGO. YOU WILL HAVE DONE MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE. ALSO WHILE YOU ARE AT IT DEMAND MORE SHELTERS.
