Regina Hill, a city commissioner from Orlando, FL, is facing significant legal troubles. She has been indicted on multiple charges, including elder exploitation, personal identification fraud, and mortgage fraud, involving the alleged misuse of over $100,000 from a 96-year-old woman's funds. Additionally, a civil case has been filed against her for similar accusations of financial exploitation involving the same elderly victim. These legal issues have led to a civil injunction and a public response from the city acknowledging the ongoing investigations but noting that they do not have authority over elected officials (Orlando Weekly) (West Orlando News).

Most of the 21 are minor drug offenses college kids get away with daily. I can totally see why young people would have voted for her droves to give her a second chance. I blame the complicant actors that bring in and scan palettes of ballots in the middle of the night, that tamper with inspected and sealed voting machines, that fake fire alarms then pull out suitcases from under the tables after everybody leaves the room, that stuff thousands of ballots into different mail-in drop offs around the county - all on f'g'n camera.

We moved to metro Atlanta in 2012. The sheriff of Clayton County, Victor Hill, had 27 charges against him but won re-election soon after we settled in. Couldn’t believe it. The good news is, he was finally found guilty in 2023 of six of seven federal charges and was sentenced to three years and ten months in prison.

My father was convicted of armed robbery as a juvenile. He spent a year and a half in the California Youth Authority. When he got out, he stayed clean for over a year before committing a series of robberies. He was convicted of three armed robberies and sentenced to three consecutive fifteen year to life sentences in California State Prison. He was paroled after serving five and a half years. He was never in trouble again. People do sometimes reform. However, the odds are not in their favor. Despite the fact that my father cleaned up his life, I would not have voted to elect him to public office.

@@myrtlealley He was around twenty seven when he was paroled. He did not enjoy prison and had no desire to return. That does not mean he turned into a good person. He did not. He just kept himself out of criminal trouble. It has been decades since I took a sociology class. If I remember correctly, recidivism rates in the U.S. average somewhere north of seventy percent. Voting for an ex-con is generally a bad bet.

Jyuan Lyndum has been disbarred, charged with 8 felonies for threatening 4 different judges, found incompetent to stand trial, and is currently at a Florida psychiatric Hospital. They didn't exactly settle for less, it was more rigged from the get-go for the people to vote for. A psycho criminal or a criminal was basically their choice. They should have people better to vote for next time since I don't see how they could have many people worse than these 2 here.

I understand the sentiment. And on the surface I would agree. But what would that really do to our Democratic Republic, if we still have one...? We enjoy something that most countries can never have... The country being run by the people's choice and not by authoritarianism and tyranny. If Trump is found guilty for a bunch of trumped up accusations, yet the people want him for President, then he should be allowed to lead our country. So I think it is a slippery slope when we force outcomes. Rather, I think it would be better to get back to focusing on the nuclear family and the health of the family. Healing the hearts of people like you and me who had bad parents or poor parenting that left our ability to make good decisions twisted and distorted. Also, I personally think, in my humble opinion, we should bring both the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer, back into our educational system for moral compass and ethical awareness. Its okay if you disagree. At least that is the freedom we hold dear, to civically disagree with one another.

I’m a recovering alcoholic with 29 years sobriety. I don’t have a criminal record myself but in that time I've met many others who have turned their life around a full 180°. They are now some of the best people I know on both sides of the Atlantic. This is a slap in the face to every one them and feeds the 'a leopard doesn’t change its spots' narrative.

There was an incident a few years ago where 17 federal congressmen were arrested at the same time. While arrested is far the same as convicted, there is a least one currently servering congressman who initially got her job while lying about where she lived to run in a different district. She has been relected. There are also a number who have been in congress for ages who have violated similar laws about where you are allowed to run (ie, you actually need to live in the district, not just have a house there). To put into perspective, the only real consequence I have seen of a person getting into real trouble for lying to win an election, was a guy who lied about his life history, but did not actually break any election laws (he got fraud charges).
