Thank you Henry for sharing I am retired and have been looking at properties in both Rapid City and Sioux Falls. I have not decided yet i'm going to visit both to get a feel can anyone share if you grew up in both cities. Thank you
This is wild: I'm watching "Comedy Monster" by Jim Gaffigan on Netflix right now and I got his biker convention super spreader event joke only because I watched this wonderful walk of yours earlier today! I mean what are the odds?
I like this side of Sturgis. I'm pretty sure I would hate it in August. Way too many people. I have a mess of suggestions for your trip. Near St. Louis are the Cahokia Mounds. Small and possibly too short to walk, but well worth a visit for educational purposes! In central NC, check out Jordan Lakes. Lots of walking paths and gorgeous scenery, then of course Ashville and the Biltmore would be stunning. Finally, in Cint, I'd check out the Cincinnati Zoo, one of the best in the country. Still, I'd probably do Eden Park for walking trails, with fantastic views of the city and the Ohio River Valley. The Riverfront Park is a short and easy walk. However, Devou Park across the river in Covington may have better views of the City.
My son and oldest daughter lived in sturgis. the drugs are there like any gathering but they are making it a family gathering now. And it's not half bad. You were right when you said that there was the parting place but if you want the music and partying you need to go out to buffalo chip. Kid Rock plays there a lot.but of course he own the buffalo chip. And again not as rough as it used to be. My daughter worked at the convenience store for several years. The guards have a heavy presence there and throw out the rally. Sturgis also has the Mustang rally there around the end of August or the first of September. The black hills also has the Corvette rally in early summer.
Hi Susan, Thanks so much for sharing this local knowledge and bit of a fact check. Glad to have the details on these rallies. It's such a beautiful area. All the best. -H
@CityWalks, do you know what kind of wildlife are there in Sturgis. I noticed that when you said you was on Willard Street, near the downtown area, there were mountains there. I am considerating relocating. But, I have no desire to live among animals. Especially the dangerous ones. I do not want to go for a morning stroll among the wildcats, bears, alligators, crocodiles, coyotes, snakes of any kind, etc., etc., etc.,.
Thanks for the question and for watching. However, it is a small town in the mountains, so if you don’t like wildlife, I think that it’s probably not a good match.
