It keeps a magical hold on our imaginations and numerous artists have romanticized its beauty and mystique. And while it may be all those things, it is also a place where local residents live, and shop for groceries, and have coffee and socialize. If you can take the time to get there early or late and off the beaten track, you can begin to enjoy the simple beauties of Venice.
