Hey, you are probably not going to read this but Im currently going through a really rough patch in my life and Im just sad most of the time. But your opening lines always make me smile for a few moments. I just wanted to say thank you - in a weird way.
Hope things turn around for you, man. Life can get really shitty sometimes, and it sucks. I went through a really, really rough patch myself. I lost my job, became homeless, which resulted in me losing ALL my stuff. Because of my financial hardships, I fell behind on child support, which resulted in my license being suspended. Didn't know it was suspended until I got pulled over for 5 over ( 🙄 ), so got arrested for driving under suspension. Because I couldn't bond out, my car was impounded. Because I couldn't afford the impound and storage fees, I couldn't afford to get my car out, so they auctioned it off. Fortunately, I found help in a shelter. Got a good job on the bus route, saved up money, got an apartment, license back, new car which led to an even better job, etc. It'll get better, just hang in there. 😊 An excellent movie quote: “The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!” ~ *Rocky Balboa*
I went through a really bad place a few years back. Sparing you all the details, I woke up most days, things out of my control, wishing I hadn't woken up. In the past few years I've lost my job, applied and interviewed for countless jobs, been turned down several times for reasons that could have triggered legal action (i.e. I'm not a diversity hire). Today I have my own business, it's progressing nicely, and I love the work. When life pushes you down, look it in the face and prove you're too tenacious to quit. You'll get back up and find your victory, however you choose to define it. And may I suggest regularly working out-- it's in your control, and it brings all the benefits to combat sadness and depression. Trust me, hit the gym religiously 5-6 days a week and see your attitude change. You got this!
Suleiman’s bonuses to captured cities and grand bazaar are extremely underrated. Imo best dom civ. Also Barbary Corsair is extremely strong in naval maps. Ottomans never have any big issues with loyalty if they have at all, captured cities are productive immediately, bazaar is super useful for strat resources and happines, İbrahim is a god tier governor, barbary corsair’s free pillaging gives insane yields easily. Like they have crazy amounts of great bonuses. Only real issue is if you don’t have niter around they’ll struggle. I didn’t even mention the obvious stars: Bonuses to siege units and broken jannisarries.
Good tier list! I’d like to make the case for a higher Greece (both), but especially Gorgo. The hoplite is available after bronze working, just 2 techs. It’s v quick to build, just 1 maintenance and resource free. Swordsmen are later to unlock, need lucky iron access, cost 1.5x to build and 20 iron a pop. FAR slower army to get out. AND the hoplite army is stronger… First off, base 28 str dwarfs the warrior 20. Next to another hoplite gives +10 for a whopping 38, (+str from cards!) destroying them. It’s even 3 ahead of the swordsman’s 35. (Both do get a +5 for infantry vs anticav mind - but 2 cards negate that. Plus the first hoplite promotion will remove it. The 2nd prom actually flips it!) Gorgo takes this further. Oligarchy is faster to rush with her culture from kills for another +4, putting them at a huge 42 strength, but she also gives +1str for each military card, and she gets a free wildcard. That’s a possible, +3 at base or +4 in oligarchy, for an eye-watering 46 combat strength on a 2-tech cheap unit. That’s *before* any promotions for +5 each. Quicker to tech, quicker to build, cheaper to keep and even stronger than the swordsman rush, the staple rush in any dom game. That has to warrant at least A tier. Negating cav rushes too to boot; and covering all culture needs through kills (but having a cheaper theatre district anyway!) Just the cherry on the cake. Early game powerhouse ahead of even Gilgamesh or Rome, but Late game her policy card effect gets stronger with more cards and only keeps her strength edge. A tier for sure.
I'd have tossed our german boy up to s tier. He's an s tier civ by default for versatility through production, but the ability to mass produce early on and easily capture some non-combat city states for a boost is insane. I'd have settled for A tier as gaul-lite in this regard. He may not have many specific dom bonuses, and a useless-ish unit, but production can't be understated
In my oppinion shaka should be S tier in my openion. The early corps are very strong and he is very consitent in domination . The cav civs are very good if you get lucky because if the enemy gets walls you are screwed. Shaka has also very little problems with loyalty because he has extra loyalty for cities with a garisont unit. You also get a corp when you take over a city with a unit. And the ikanda is very good as a good sorce of sience and gold (you get +2 gold and +1 sience for buildings inside the Ikanda) so you can skip commertial hubs and just build a few campuses.
I need to play Hungary again but I think he's S-tier for domination. The suzerain/levy/repeat strategy seems almost full-proof to me. I want to see you play Amanitore and see how you keep your Pitati Archers alive when on the offensive. I'd swap him with Philip. Conquistadors are one of the best UUs in the game because they are melee units. The units you promote into Conquistadors will probably have multiple promotions by then. Combine with corps/armies and you can completely ignore infantry and their annoying oil requirements. I have Pachacuti a tier higher. The production bonuses are nothing to scoff at and there are few problems a trebuchet/knight rush can't solve.
In my experience, Victoria + Redcoat rush = win. I only ever actually finished and won a game, with Victoria, domination, and I did it twice. She's good before redcoats and unstoppable once she gets them imo.
zulu should have been low S, just getting constant armies and corps makes it so you're just better than most other civs in terms of units by default. Plus getting free upgrades on city takeovers, and with the ikanda giving you good resources, and free loyalty. The only thing thats wrong is that impis are kinda weak in this game by comparison to last game
Kupe domination grade changed to D tier after realizing his Toa is only unlocked by researching not with the Iron Working tech but with Construction, which requires both Horseback Riding as well as Masonry. At least the Toa doesn't require Iron, has no upkeep, and is better than the sword, but it is 1/3 more expensive than the former, plus you have a very small opening to take advantage of these Pā Fort charges these units have to offer. Other than that, you are actually one to two techs away from reaching the Man-at-Arms tech!
Whenever I go domination I usually have “frontline cities” because I am constantly needing fresh troops at least on deity. Suleiman is literally my best friend for that shit. Constant fat damage buffs, bonus unit production, and when I capture a capital I got another powerhouse city that’s already producing shit for me at a regular rate within like 4 or 5 turns.
Just dropping a comment to say chandragupta can declare territorial expansion early in the classical era. It is part of his bonus. Curious to see if it will bump it up in your list
I think Vietnam should have been S tier just because of the benefits of having a strong militaristic infrastructure and pared with the Secret Societies or Corporations and Monopolies the amount of gold is enough to build up a strong late medieval army and steamroll most nations. On another note, if Vietnam is attacked a good player can struggle to defend their territory at first but then once they start going they'll crush the attackers.
Just to try it out, I ran a Jadwiga Domination, and with Crusade and backing up some Apostles with Gurus, those Winged Huszars are NAAAAAAAASTY. Had a solid 50 turns of just hilariously unopposed conquest before I started running up against more and more walls. With better planning I could have run that into a total victory (as it was I just used my huge new collection of cities to accidentally win Culturally).
Khmer and Russia should be bumped to A tier with the simple trick of: Dance of the aurora/river holy sites Work ethic to spam out units Grand master’s chapel to REALLY SPAM units Unique units for decoration
love the vids, im a pretty casual player havent attempted deity difficulty yet, for my first try what do you think will give me the best chances of victory, im familiar with: rome ,australia, germany ,and mansa musa as civs as of now, theyre the only ones ive won with.
Apple Pie. Gaul feels like mid-A rather than S (let alone ahead of Gran Columbia) as most of their military advantages stop applying fairly early and will still need Iron + $ for early Man-At-Arms.
joke aside but gandhi is truly troublesome enemy cause if u fight against him u get 25% + war warriness and that shit truly fked up cause it usually go unnoticed early but in the late game ohhh boii imagine building aqueduct for 50+ turn cause you in war with him
Using Gauls or Babbylon is easy mode in Civ 6. They get too many unfair bonuses, too many being the ability to instantly receive the Apprenticeship tech. Also Firaxis needs to remove/nerf Man at Arms
domination is not about power its about loyality only........ the only domination civ in game is suleiman due to not losing population after capturing a city also loyality boost.
@@friedrichnietzsche883 if you blitz every city using superior technology as Babylon or bust through their walls with fast cavalry as Byzantium loyalty doesn't matter. Suleiman is strong definitely but not the best
Started off great but quickly lost me... Egypt. Basically an X-bow that trades just 5CS for more movement that's HALF PRICE. No reason at ALL to be bellow c tier
Would be nice if you could learn how to pronounce their names properly (or at least close enough). They literally say their own names when they introduce themselves.
