Have you ever done a game where you try to win a religious victory just by passive pressure spread? Zero active spreading or religious emergency combat shenanigans. Just strategically placed fat population cities, feed the world, the spread power or spread range belief and trying to get the win before the AI. I think Khmer would be good for this type of game.
For all intents and purposes that's impossible. If you can't use units you can't firmly establish in your own land or clear out corruption when the AI tries to take your cities. Even if you could flip some neighbors, you only get to 50-60 percent in their cities which isn't enough to further propagate or take over Holy Cities. Even with a small clustered map and a couple religions it would take too long to happen before other Victories
Theoretically you could do this, but a lot of war would be needed. Probably declaring war and razing any cities not following your religion, hoping a moderately sized civ exists so you don’t accidentally win another victory, then using religious colonization as the way to spread religion, granted this could be considered ‘actively spreading’
I tried it with Gandhi with 300% pressure on trade routes and it takes way too long to convert even a single city. And all the AI has to do is make one apostle and undo all your hard work. I even tried only using religious units in my own land and it still wasn't even close.
Indonesia is very strong and a pretty good map roll (not where you spawned, but just the map haha) for mostly naval domination. Another illustration of how having X number of cities by turn X and this yield etc doesn't really matter when you have a good strategy. Being behind early isn't nearly the scary problem that our minds can make us believe.
Wow never knew how ridiculously strong Jongs can be. Nearly battleship strength with those bonuses. Cannot be stopped on an Archipelago map. And the religious pressure exploit is a good one to keep in the toolbox. Makes me wonder how Basil could take advantage… Good show!

Awesome game with my favorite civ! Loved the sneaky religious plays, never considered using an emergency like that, and I've never seen the no-movement embarking come in handy.
A religious victory attempt by way of murdering everyone else who might oppose your religion. Are you sure you didn't just want to get a Domination victory and changed your mind?
I've heard of people using free cities as science farms - get a city with bad loyalty, when it flips you pillage the campus, retake it, fix campus, flips to loyalty pressure, then you start all over again. Something like that. Too cheesy for me and not sure how much it actually helps.
I wonder do people here like games that aren’t grand strategy I would be interested in hearing what games ursa viewers like for me I really like RPG’s but I would like to hear what other people like here
