Thanks bro....I replaced the ignition switch after days of mis-~diagnosis. Tested battery, relay and starter and all were good! Then i saw this video. Spot on for my situation. Thanks again...
Good vid. Had the same problem and fixed it before I saw your vid. I used a right angle screw driver to remove the 2 screws holding the switch. I took the switch apart. Cleaned all the contact points. Reassemble everything.
nice video...photos move kinda fast but descriptive. mine lights up all over but no sound from the starter at all. if I put a remote start switch on the starter itself will I bypass any key problems to determine if the starter is good or will it require key to work also??
So I’m having a no start no crank issue with a 2007 civic ex. Changed starter & starter cut relay. I do not have power on the yellow wire on ignition switch sensor so I Bought a new one and still same thing. Neutral switch seems good as it changes in the dash.
Good evening, I'm having an issue with my Honda civic. 2011 The car turns over but won't Start the neutral switch doesn't work Could you possibly give me some info
Thank you. Very informative. I have a similar situation but lack certain tools to diagnose my issue. While driving my 2013 Honda Civic, my car suddenly started losing power with low engine oil flash. I pulled over to the side. I have had similar indicator come on before too but when I would check the oil, it would always be upto the level, so I assumed it was a bad engine oil sensor. Anyways, now my car is a no crank, no start situation. I had the car towed home. Any suggestions? I would do a diagnostic check by am assuming a bad starter wouldn't stop a driving car. I could be wrong. Kindly guide me. I'd rather do a check before towing it to the mechanic.
Unfortunately that sounds very different as you suggest. I'm guessing you had low oil pressure which may mean the oil pump failed. If the sensor was not the problem then it likely is the pump and you may have serious engine trouble ☹️
thank you for the video. I am having the same issue I believe. It happened twice before. I thought battery was dyeing and jumped it and it worked both of the times. Today it finally gave up. Before all this, when I turn the car on, it felt like it was hard to turn the engine on. So I do think its a starter. What do you think, or anyone?
I have the same issue but sometimes when I floor it (sometimes) it gets it going any ideas? Currently not even flooring it is doing anything. It also only once day. If I get it going once the rest of the day is fine. All electronics work fine
@@worldcoach6887 unfortunately you will have to go through the whole diagnostic process in the video. Likely it's the starter. Flooring it was probably just a coincidence since that's not related to the starter circuit.
Hi J Squared Repaired, my car won’t start.. when turn on the ignition key its only click sound that you can hear and no crank.. 2006 hinda civic- thank U
I have the same car. Was at the gas station yesterday. Turned the key and the car barely turned on, so I turned it off and tried it again just to see what would happen and nothing. The battery is good. The day before it didn’t want to turn on, but I had the key turned for like 5 seconds and it started up like normal with no cranking noises. Could it be the ignition switch or the starter?
Unfortunately it could be either. You'll have to go through the diagnostics in the video to determine. Unfortunately the starter is pretty common to fail on these cars. Good luck.
My girlfriends 06 civic is having this problem every other day and it won’t end up starting and we tow it to a shop and they say it starts up everytime and then they give it back to us and it runs fine and then the next day doesn’t start again, we’ve gone through this process 2/3 times, they say the starter is going bad but still works because it cranks fine, we had the Ignition switch replaced and the battery is newish and didn’t have problems before so idk what the problem is should I get the starter replaced? Or could it be something else
@@roughroosterknifesharpenin5531 There's more things that could be at play then what he simply tells you to diagnose and trust I wasn't being lazy so idk why you're talking smack online, I worked on that car for hours. I was just asking if anyone had a similar issue and maybe there's something I'm missing, I ended up solving the issue.
Great video I have the no crank no start problem with my civic I have taken the starter off and had it bench tested and it worked could it still be my starter ? I know it's not the neutral safety switch as it wont start I nuetral
If they did a good job testing the starter than I would say it's ok. But when a starter goes it usually only has a few bad spots so that it will work much of the time but if it stops on a bad spot it won't function. If your starter is older and you checked everything else I would change it since you've went through the effort of removing.
@@jaysonreid4160 you really need a meter or test light. But if it's an intermittent problem then that will be hard to diagnose until it completely fails. Starters are unfortunately a common failure. If you want to start with less expensive things you can replace the ignition switch but replacing without testing is a gamble.
My civic does this once every two to three weeks but after letting it sit for a few hours it turns back on. The ac and lights turn on fine when the key is in so im confident it isnt the battery. Any idea what i should look at first?
Unfortunately you have to go through the whole process to find the root of the problem and intermittent problems are tough. Most common is going to be the starter unfortunately. If it's the starter you may be able to rock the car while trying to start or tap on it with a hammer to get it to work a single time but once they start acting up it will fully fail soon ☹️
@@weksos4423 battery terminals were rusted and dirty had clean them off (disconnect battery first then use sandpaper or a metal wire brush), after that the problem stopped. Could also be the starter, the battery itself, or the alternator
My Honda Civic 2007 no start flashing green key on dashboard, it was programming but saying immobilizer abnormal, we change it yet it didnt start. i need help pls.
ben thanks. As you know intermittent is always hard. It will tend to get worse and then be easier to find but then you might be stranded! Unfortunately these tend to be the actual starter. Does it happen more often on hot restarts? That is a sign it's the starter.
If it cranks but only slowly it's likely a weak battery. It could be a poor starter connection as well. You can have the battery load tested for free at most auto parts store a. Good luck.
J Squared Repaired hopefully that’s the case.. when the car is cold is when it struggles to crank. After driving it, I turned it off for 20min and it started right up with no struggle.
When I let my car sit overnight then I go to start in the morning it’s total black out for 3-5 seconds when trying to start. Nothing comes on. Once It starts it’s fine the entire day. It’s like when the car goes into sleep mode it takes a while to wake up. Any ideas? Again throughout the day it fires right up only happens after a overnight park.
I haven't seen that one. Do the lights work immediately? Does it not crank at all and then suddenly crank quickly like normal? Or once it starts cranking is it slow?

@@johnbugman1 I would check that you have full battery power as in you can turn on your headlights before attempting to crank. Either way I haven't seen that. Please let me know if you learn more.
@@myholmiestreams9287 oh sorry to hear that bro. I'm still pretty sure you'll find something on here that can fix it or you might as well just take it to get it fixed
