Ben Lin's transmission is broken on the Evo from Gridlife Midwest, so Ben Thorn compete's alone with his civic at NJMP.
Following a disappointing finish at Gridlife Midwest, Ben turns his attention to NJMP. With a new suspension setup and help from sim training, there's a chance of victory. The closest competition of the season so far, battling for thousands of a second against his arch nemesis, Grant Davidson in a nearly identical car.

Might think about bringing extra wheels and tires. Seems like your run into these types of issues a lot. Small inconveniences that could easily be fixed if you brought extra sets

I had an extra set of wheels with me, but they were the oiled set from the last gridlife round. I didn’t want to buy two brand new sets for this event because I couldn’t spare the money. Brought the oiled set as an emergency, thankfully I was able to just buy one new tire instead.

Enjoyed this one more than some of the recent Civic track videos. Seeing the front lip come off the Integra and then you removing the rear bumper, chasing that extra speed was awesome!

Ben's Civic looks a bit too loose compared to the Integra at 9:10 and 10:48. Could be loosing some time recovering from the slide. Ben's driving has improved dramatically! Great job.

Being that you're so close, do you think it's just the overall car in general? As much as I LOVE hatches, we are taller and less aerodynamic than a sedan like the integra. I know the interior is stripped pretty bare, but have you guys considered lightening up the roof and if needed, adding ballast as low as possible? Loving these time attack videos. 💛💛

I race a K-powered RSX in endurance and have found that it is faster around the track without the rear wing (NRG carbon wing with 5 degree angle of attack on custom mounts). But my drivers prefer the wing for a more stable feel at high speed. Lots of variables, and differences, I know, but just an FYI. Great effort on your part! enjoyed the video.

I was thinking the same thing. Easy to get rocks and dirt stuck in the bead when you drop a wheel off track. You can usually just dismount, clean, and remount. I figured it was just an ad for tirerack.

I think you might have been running a little too close to the guy who took first place in the last session. As much as the slipstream helps on the straight the lack of fresh cooler air might have hindered your ability to power out of the corners and the dirty air creating less downforce. You were sliding around quite a bit behind him. But that's my opinion.

Get a junkyard bumper and modify it to have a medium downforce splitter. Get some aero to cover the suspension. I think trying to reduce turbulent flow as much as possible off the back is the only thing that will let you punch through any faster.

I've played around with the rear bumper a lot and taking it off slows the car dow quite a bit. It needs to be cut, drilled with holes, or a under tray/diffuser

Love this series and watching what you have done with this car, and how you have developed as a driver, Ben T.! What are you using for datalogging? I'm building an EK hatch, hoping to run GL Street class for a few events next year, have a GSR swap for now, but will probably go K24 sooner than later.
