Civic VTi D16y8 Ph16 Rebuild Series Part 1 Dyno Run Inside

We kick off our new series with the usual inspection of the car and engine health including compression test and also a dyno base run! this way we know and see a proper starting point before we rebuild the engine and restore it to its full health potential
Ofcourse we will do a final base run after the rebuild this way there is no dubious claims or guesses but factual and actual results just for you guys.
Prior to that final stage we will take you along with us on this whole rebuild and share all details that help generate good power and or efficiency or "both" as we prefer it usually!

Sir is the D16Y5 the same as the local VTi engine?

The 2000 VTi-RS i just bought has the D16Y5 engine. I dont think the car has undergone an engine transplant

great video I used a larger throttle body off b20 and port matched intake both sides healthy motor at 200 psi would go another 20 years

Funny yet so true another 20yrs looks like it can handle at the boredom of the owner hahahahaha That’s a good move usually the b20 tb is cheaper than the b16 but same size 😫 on the next episodes we’ll talk about the changes I would do, I want to reach the “ram air” power of 106whp on stock airbox lol

this technology is 20yrs ago, another proof that honda is 1step ahead. will be watching this series again! thank you for the always informative videos. btw i own a vti also so i might definitely get some ideas HAHA

True on 20+ years and notice the airfuel ratio/tune it’s well tuned! Stock ecu! Tbh me and my colleague we were also super surprised!

@@SRDmotorsports that's so true man, I must say the car came out nice. I have an I/H/E and ported head, z6 head, vtec controller and Uniq after market chip, the car made 102KW(136hp) and 163nm, she runs nice and strong in an EG9 sedan... I wanted to know by you, if it's worth porting the intake and throttle body, and then getting a bigger cam and Rev kit, retainers. Because the next thing I'm doing is modifying the gearbox. Hope you have a great day bother.

I like the idea to actually test the power of the car. Even stock when reaching higher revs it sounds wonderful. Overall a very nice and well maintained Honda. Drop by my friend, long time no see. :)

@@SRDmotorsports true, just proves that regular PMS really is beneficial to an engine's longevity and performance looking at the engine bay the only part not OEM is the radiator,, ang linis pa rin tingnan can't wait for the tips and tricks ☺ hahaha

@@SRDmotorsports that's right, sir. I have the same model 1999 vti sir body, manual tranny. Are they really just the same as the ph16? I believe this is our version of the d16y8 or the vtec-e. No actual cam profile with higher lift. It only changes a bit when it reaches a certain rpm (I think 2500 or 3000?) Number of valves engaged past that rpm? I still don't know for sure so I will definitely follow this build!

Once a car company can make motorbikes and small engines they will produce good cars and not much car manufacturers can do that, I've seen Honda engines and transmissions last longer than the car itself

Definitely agree! And it’s why maybe more than 90% from the Japan yard once it comes into a different country? All those engines get to live a second life And ALOT of times a new “race”’life lol

@@XilenTMedia oh man all questions are welcome here at the comments etc Feel free man, though there might be times I’d be a day late in replying but a lot of times the first few days of the vid I check it every hour cuz that’s when the comments are hot from the oven lol! And I agree the owner here took well good care of this knowing all 3-4 of his siblings and he learned to drive in it so it’s def a family member Maintained well

@@XilenTMedia oh thanks brother! I mean in all honesty we can’t lie I mean the channel is to help the shop gain more local customers and if it does? Then great! As I feel there are customers out there that can spend a good coin but are only left with the “Social media heroes” local to me lol So this can show them where it’s safer to go And on top of all that? Back in the forum days? It was exactly like this, we post stuff and others post a reply etc and next thing u know? We’ve come up with 3-4 different set ups in mind hahaha I feel quite a few never got a chance to go thru that as that was the early 2000s so this is what it is for now

For the VTEC EKs in Australia at least VTI is d series, VTI-R is a b series engine.
